He had nothing to apologise for. A prophet is never welcome in his own time. The leftwaffe will flap and should just be ignored.

I’d like him to apologise for his lies. How about you?

The numbers might be wrong. And he might not be a good guy. But many people agree with the overall sentiment that there has been too much migration and it is unsustainable

I think a lot will agree with what he is saying

His numbers are wrong, not 'might be' wrong

That was not an apology.

Furthermore he is not a UK resident anyway. He campaigned for Brexit and moved to Monaco.

This. He's a weasel.

cardibach · 12/02/2026 19:52

BlueJuniper94 · 12/02/2026 19:45

Numbers and data can be interpreted in all sorts of ways. People are allowed to make claims and these can then be debated. People don't mind misinformation when it's coming from their side and benefits their tribe. I never ever hear anyone calling on out their own side and demanding accuracy. And it ain't cause it doesn't happen!

No. That’s not true about an absolute number. He was out by 10 million. It’s not a matter of interpretation of data. You know this, surely - so why are you arguing it? What’s your line?

Allseeingallknowing · 12/02/2026 19:52

PandoraSocks · 12/02/2026 19:28

I think you need to sit down and really think through what you have just said.

Didn’t say I agreed with him, but plenty do!

BatchCookBabe · 12/02/2026 19:53

I don't know whether to click YABU or YANBU, but you're right that he has not apologised.... But also, I don't think he needs to apologise. He is entitled to his views. It's a free country, and the left-wing opinion is not the default one that everyone should adhere to. There should be no groupthink. People should be allowed to have opinions that others do not like.

cardibach · 12/02/2026 19:53

BlueJuniper94 · 12/02/2026 19:48

I am saying what I said.

So you are saying lies don’t matter? That’s right, yes?

BlueJuniper94 · 12/02/2026 19:49

The numbers might be wrong. And he might not be a good guy. But many people agree with the overall sentiment that there has been too much migration and it is unsustainable

And that opinion is fine. But you can’t argue it by inflating immigration by 10 million. I don’t believe you can’t see this.

Yellowshirt · 12/02/2026 19:54

cardibach · 12/02/2026 19:22

What he said is demonstrably incorrect. His figures were out by about 10 million. Immigration has always changed places. Ask Wales. It’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Edit: a lot of people are on benefits because twats like him don't pay high enough wages. We are subsidising him. Like with the massive loan we gave him for some reasons I can’t quite understand.

Edited

The minimum wage in this country is more than £12 per hour. That's not a poor wage.
If the government changed the tax system and dropped energy bills people in work would not be struggling.

DuncinToffee · 12/02/2026 19:54

Allseeingallknowing · 12/02/2026 19:51

I think a lot will agree with what he is saying

With his incorrect, lying figures? And still want us to respect their opinion?

ilovesooty · 12/02/2026 19:55

Is anyone surprised? It’s football.

It's nothing to do with football.

Maybe he should fill his Man United squad with British Born player only ?

Maybe he should not be asking taxpayers to contribute money to the new stadium he wants to build, if he’s concerned about how much he a payers are forking out.

Or maybe he should actually do his job and win a game?

Of course he’s entitled to his views. But he’s not entitled to lie - which is what he did.

What do you mean? He’s stating what he thinks is right. If his figures are wrong he should be corrected, but the essence of his statement is something he thinks is right.

That’s all a bit irrelevant. A huge chunk of benefits go to working people because big businesses dont pay a living wage.

Ok this is getting silly now!

£12 an hour is a shit wage when the rent on a one bedroom flat can be £2000 a month depending on where you live! Where I am, East Mids market town, a 2 bed terrace will cost 140k + Try getting a mortgage on that on NMW, not going to happen. So you rent, except that rent is too high on NMW so it is topped up by housing benefit. So what happens is that tax payers are putting money into the pockets of those who have more than enough, and punching down on NMW earners for not working hard enough to earn more instead of getting angry with people like Ratcliffe and other big businesses for not paying a living wage.

What do you mean? He’s stating what he thinks is right. If his figures are wrong he should be corrected, but the essence of his statement is something he thinks is right.

But his opinion is, apparently, based on incorrect figures. So when he knows they are incorrect his opinion will change, surely?
Or - he knows the figures are incorrect and his opinion isn’t based on facts at all but he wants to manipulate others into agreeing with him, assuming they won’t check his figures. He’s saying people are stupid and won’t check his lies.

AmberDreams · 12/02/2026 19:19

He never said he was apologising. He simply stated he could have used different terminology but his points remain the same.

What he said is demonstrably correct. It is an indisputable fact that immigration has totally changed some areas of the UK. Whether you see that as a problem or not is a matter of personal opinion.

He also stated that having 9m people on benefits is not sustainable. I’d argue that is also true.

I think it’s a good thing that an influential businessmen feels able to speak up. The notion that everything is OK and that we have an unlimited capacity to absorb more people is ridiculous.

Very well put, fully agree, wish I’d written that 👍.

wiffin · 12/02/2026 20:01

Being concerned about immigration and the benefits bill does not make you a racist or ignorant.

Making up numbers that vastly inflate reality is however a sign of a liar. Talking about colonisation and feigning surprise that the word has racist connotations is disingenuous. Implying everyone on benefits is a skiver is ignorant.

Words matter. Mans a weasel. He thinks farage is great.

You vote for brexit? Your choice. But to do it, fuck off, pay no tax and expect your words to matter? Deluded.

but we aren’t allowed to say they are ill informed or a bit thick? When they base their opinion on falsehoods? Or feels?

Very well put, fully agree, wish I’d written that 👍.

You agree that a tax dodging liar who is an immigrant and accepts benefits (massive loan for his business despite being a billionaire) has the right to lie in order to manipulate people?
Wow
