I might take dd to the cinema to see and then to Nando’s and to a bakery for a cupcake. Will need to find a flower shop to buy her one red rose

I hate that it’s on a Saturday, I really don’t wanna see young teens out on dates while I’m chronically single 😂

will you do anything? No judgement if not, it’s just me and dd so I like to do this stuff

plus, when someone’s son decides to take her out when she’s older, she won’t be thrilled by literally the bare minimum!!

edit to see either Gaby’s dolls house, zootropolis 2 or The Goat (kids cartoon) - not sure which 🤷‍♀️

Valentines Day is nothing to do with children, what nonsense!

Ihatelittlefriendsusan · 11/02/2026 21:24

Really?

Kids get Christmas, Easter, birthdays why exactly do they need valentines too?

aneelli · 11/02/2026 21:24

It’s become so commercialised it’s ridiculous, valentines is for couples, not for you to celebrate with ur child bc ur single, what happens when u get a partner? U don’t need to do anything at all on Saturday, of course your going to see couples, were you expecting bouncy castles for children

Is this a new thing? Valentine’s Day used to be for couples.

Im 35 and my mum "sent" me a valentines day card every year till i was like 18 😆 🤣

Mumstheword1983 · 11/02/2026 21:25

Nothing. Is this a thing? They did do a valentine's fun task at school but I personally don't give treats or do anything with the kids.

Globules · 11/02/2026 21:26

Of course you can ask.

My answer is nowt.

Empress13 · 11/02/2026 21:27

What kind of silliness is this? In answer to your question Nowt

This is another of those things that would seem really strange if it was a father doing something like this for his daughter on Valentine's Day, imo.

Strong disagree

Burntt · 11/02/2026 21:28

My dd said she was going to make me a valentines gift. I said I’d love any gift she makes me but I’d like it just as a “I love you mummy” type gift not for valentines because valentines is for romantic love which is not an appropriate celebration for young children. Maybe I’m ott buy it bothers me

I was going to add Baggy Trousers, but to make it more relevant to the topic - It Must Be Love

Nothing in Our House 🤣

JaneVtwaddle · 11/02/2026 21:33

We get our girls some flowers and chocs

Now that really is weird.

Breadcat24 · 11/02/2026 21:34

my father started sending me anonymous valentine cards it made me feel a bit queasy
Obvious handwriting
Missed my brthday though and Christmas
suspect he was being a bit of a stirrer.

No it is not normal to do valentines with your children

HoobleDooble · 11/02/2026 21:34

I usually get DS a card and chocolate orange from the cat. Just so he doesn't feel left out 😁

JaneVtwaddle · 11/02/2026 21:35

Death cancer war Putin ,israel /Gaza / stabbings / political turmoil / on and on...
.

Yes we do a teeny thing for our girls on a a dark wet February day that cheers us all.
Oh and our Xmas decs are still up

CompetitionMyArse · 11/02/2026 21:35

What?! Is this a thing now?

OhDear111 · 11/02/2026 21:35

Nothing. I like them to give me something on mothering Sunday. Valentine’s Day is about romantic love. Not family love.

Way to take the fun out of it for her.

Londonrach1 · 11/02/2026 21:36

Nothing. Sorry did I miss something. It's for couples.

AgnesMcDoo · 11/02/2026 21:37

When did this become a thing?

Sally2791 · 11/02/2026 21:38

Tiddly squat

You made it weird. Valentine’s Day can be about ‘love’ in general.

tinyspiny · 11/02/2026 21:38

Valentine’s Day is for couples / people romantically involved not children

AnonAnonmystery · 11/02/2026 21:39

I’m going to do some baking with my step dc - both my dc are older and not around . I find it a bit wierd doing things with kids for Valentines tbh but they seem to have that tradition so am embracing it as it involves cake! Will be getting some heart icing bits tomorrow :)

mrbeanthesecond · 11/02/2026 21:39

We will be doing the usual Saturday endless sporting activities but I’ve got dd a little card and a little soft toy that says something twee on it like ‘you are my little gem’. Might let her pick something nice for dessert. My own mother used to do something similar when I was a kid.

It’s not harming anyone and as pp said, it will make a miserable and no doubt wet, February feel a bit brighter! I do firmly draw the line at Christmas Eve/boo/easter baskets though.
