Yeah you're being unreasonable.
You don't have to like her latest music, although you are obviously in the minority given the record-breaking streams it has. She changes style a lot from album to album, so I think it's inevitable that sometimes a new album won't hit everyone's sweet spot. Retiring from her latest music seems sensible if that's how you feel.
The rest of what you say is wildly unreasonable, though. I can't think of another artist held to such standards tbh or who has such obvious rubbish claimed about her. Let's have a quick look at the main ones
She hasn't spoken out on x,y,z issue (insert preferred issue of the moment)
Given the death threats against her and her fans recently, and the fact that little girls were targeted and murdered simply for being at a Taylor Swift dance class. I suspect we will not see her speak out publicly again tbh. I think she has realised that she puts a target on her own and her fans' backs by doing so.
She's a MAGA
She isn't; she very publicly encouraged people to vote for Kamala and has consistently supported progressive causes. She's marrying a man who is famously liberal in his own industry and whose family are loudly Democratic.
She's a billionaire (therefore evil)
She has created music so beloved that its value makes her a billionaire because she now owns the rights to it. I would have to ask who the objectors think should own the music that she created. Who is more deserving of being the beneficiary of its value than her? She also seems to be pretty decent in how she chooses to spend that money; she is notorious for making sure her employees all have insurance, rare in the industry, and in paying huge bonuses across the board. If only all billionaires followed those values (looks pointedly at Bezos and Musk and the way they treat employees).
She was mean about Justin Baldoni
She did call him a little bitch with a tiny violin, in the privacy of texts exchanged with her close friend, who had accused him of sexual harassment. In a similar circumstance, I can only hope my texts never come to light because I was WAY meaner than she was 😂
She was mean about her fiancé's ex, Kayla Nicole
Not really true, she's never mentioned KN's name in public or indicated any interest in her (neither has he for years). One lyric from a recent song has been assumed to be about KN, who immediately responded by dancing on Halloween in a revealing outfit to a song called "he ain't man enough". Fair enough, she looked great, but KN seems to have built a social influencing career on the back of that past relationship and references it at every opportunity. File under who really cares.
She's nearly 40 and still writes about high school.
She's 36, and so what? Women are allowed to age.
She doesn't write about high school - she wrote a song about a schoolfriend who killed himself and reminisces about their friendship and regret. Most of her songs are about her feelings, or about the industry and how shitty the double standards in it are for women. (She's not wrong, is she)
I struggle to think of any male artist who is criticised in the way she is, and honestly, I am done with it. She could put out a collection of nursery rhymes accompanied by bagpipes and digeridoos and she still wouldn't deserve the shit she gets tbh. If people don't like her music, they should avoid listening to it. Everything else is just parasocial bullshit.
