Context that my dad said he couldn’t believe I was eating “all that”
don’t judge the oven food, it’s Thursday and I’m tired!

Is this too big a portion?

I bet it's not....

It sounds rank.

You could have it spread thinly on a baked parsnip for a sweet treat.

Or you could have a Kit Kat.

Apparently cottage cheese is nice with peas and mint sauce stirred through.

With what?! That’s too much internet for tonight

I love it with chilli crisp or on marmite rice cakes

I don't eat chocolate at all. Do I get a medal?

Why would you want a medal? I certainly don't want one and wasn't asking for one. You seem to think it's virtuous not to eat chocolate. Why?

YesSirICanNameChange · 06/02/2026 19:20

I don't eat smarties because I need it or expect it to be good for me; I eat it because life's too short to limit yourself to bitter tree-flavoured darkness that calls itself "chocolate".

And yet I really love very dark chocolate and don't enjoy milk chocolate much. I don't eat dark chocolate because it's good for me (nowhere did I say that it was, so I wonder why you've said that) - I eat it because I like it. I agree that life's too short to eat things you don't like which is why I don't eat Smarties.

So you answered a question no one asked.

Well done you.

The OP is only bothered about the portion size as her dad made a comment. She also mentioned she was overweight. And said the reason she made this meal for herself was because she was tired. I gave her an option for those days when she doesn’t feel like cooking to be helpful.

OP isn’t bothered by it. Why are you?! You seem like a vile person, keep your comments to yourself!

The one square of 100% cocoa chocolate is killing me…

Why? It's lovely. I do think it's odd that so many people are happy to sneer at people who like eating things they don't.

Says the person who makes a big deal out of only eating pure cocoa, rather than milk chocolate.

If I could eat chocolate. I bloody would. As much as I want, as sweet as I want, whenever I want.

Yes, yes they are. I am loving this thread.

"I couldn't POSSIBLY eat even one whole fishfinger. You must be so fat you have to go through doors sideways. Wait - unless this was you first meal since January. Then 3 fishfingers would be ok."

An adult woman needs 45g of protein a day. There's somewhere between 13g and 25g on that place. The people falling through grates need to think about the nutrition their body needs.

It's not the only meal in the day! Plenty of opportunities to get protein in other meals. And literally nobody has said they couldn't eat one fish finger. Now it seems to have become a competition to see who can eat the most and laugh hardest at people who don't eat as much.

Catladywithacat · 06/02/2026 23:01

I would have two or three fish fingers but your portion isn’t a lot at all I don’t eat much usually

I didn't make a 'big deal' out of it. I just mentioned that I liked it but it seems other people are keen to keep going on about it and making it a big deal. It's very odd. I eat as much as I want, as sweet as I want, whenever I want too. I just don't happen to want milk chocolate. It's not too difficult to understand.

But that’s why these threads are so pointless, because there are so many variables. Someone could say ‘ooh I couldn’t possible eat that for dinner’ but they have 3 Big Macs for lunch. Or someone could say ‘I can only manage 1000 calories a day’ but that’s because they don’t fucking move any where 🤷🏻‍♀️

Edited

Some of us don’t move anywhere because we are chronically ill, disabled or both. But yes, too many variables for any sense.

What’s mind boggling is that you think a meal that is 700kcal at most is ‘mind boggling’. It’s a normal meal, for a normal adult human.

I mean my autoimmune conditions put plenty of strain on the NHS but I’m fairly sure my size 16 body isn’t damaging it too much given I can do a 90 min spin class with no issues
its not JUST my thyroid but I don’t feel like listing all my health conditions. They can’t get my TSH low enough. I don’t fast as it’s not recommended with eating disorders

might be worth a trip to the GP if this would make you vomiting

Have you looked at the NHS resources lately? Because I don’t want to eat low fat spread etc
there wasn’t much help when I had an eating disorder let alone if I ask for weight loss help without triggering it again on top of balancing my medication

I hope whatever made you so vicious to a stranger gets resolved

Thanks for everyone’s replies, it genuinely was a fairly light hearted thread but I know if I hear any more about how my giant body is killing the NHS off I will end up in a mess again so I’ll bow out

You think that an 800 calorie meal is gluttonous? Are you being serious?

Ignore that poster. They either have an inaccurate and disordered view of food or they're trolling.
