McDonald’s Adult Happy Meals

To not understand the point in the silly cartoon Friends toys? I thought McDonald’s was trying to cut down on plastic waste? Surely make the kids happy meals better with decent toys rather than the adult ones!

They will only be in "landfill or floating in the sea" if people put them there.
I can't speak for others but I don't put plastic products in landfill or the sea.
People always say that about plastic products but never expensive watches, jewellery, wholesome wooden toys etc.
Where do they go when people don't want them anymore?

Exactly! I always find it interesting how quick people are to call out the individual when it comes to environmental issues such as plastic yet miss the point how the government and big polluting countries do f all to help the situation. Instead we have have posters berating those who want a small plastic toy or use the wrong straw etc missing the point that things like paying for plastic bags is just a way for the government to say they are doing something when they are just passing the cost to consumers.

Of course we all have a part to play to help the environment and small things add up but the focus on one another when it should be all of us holding the government accountable and instead we are too busy criticising the person nearest .

Twas ever thus

Get people blaming Jane for using a plastic straw and Mary for not using a beeswax wrap and Charlie for wanting a Happy Meal toy

Look at them

Whilst over here the billionaires are flying shrot distances, buying poorly mined rare gems etc...

It's simply supply and demand though.

You, the small consumer, demand a small plastic toy in your happy meal.
They, the big supplier, now produce millions upon millions of small plastic toys.

Small demands add up to huge mountains of waste.

Of course governments and corporations should be held to account. But we are also accountable.

The 'it's not me, it's them' finger pointing attitude will not solve this. We must all point the finger at ourselves and hold ourselves accountable.

Wait what - we can get adult happy meal toys and they’re friends ones?!

This is good news indeed! Thanks OP!

My thoughts exactly, thanks and sorry OP!

I got a McDonald's the other day solely because I wanted a Friends toy 😁
I'm going to have to get more over the coming weeks as I want a Monica in her chef's hat too

If you don't understand the point, then it was never for you anyway.
Leave this stuff to people who would actually appreciate it.
