McDonald’s Adult Happy Meals

To not understand the point in the silly cartoon Friends toys? I thought McDonald’s was trying to cut down on plastic waste? Surely make the kids happy meals better with decent toys rather than the adult ones!

Well you’re a misery aren’t you OP ?
My DS15 loves Friends and has a plastic Joey on her vanity. They’re only similar to the POP figures that teens seem to like nowadays.

Needmorelego · 05/02/2026 12:46

They've bought back the better quality toys (ie plastic) for the kids meals.
The recent Playmobil animals were brilliant.
The ones for "adults" are just a bit of fun.
Some people like collecting novelties.
Who cares?

TY78910 · 05/02/2026 12:47

You’d be very surprised how many adults enjoy collectibles or certain popular culture franchises (friends, strangers things) the lot and will enjoy this. As always with these things - there must be a market for it since it exists, if it’s not to your taste then decline it.

ArtificialStupidity · 05/02/2026 12:49

I think we have two accept that businesses are always going to have a financial imperative that they put first and that many people are too selfish to put the environment first. We need laws to stop endless unnecessary waste like this.

All we can do is not give into the endless consumption and hope other people will do the same but really it's going to take legislation I think

And in all honesty the McDonald's target market probably didn't consume anywhere near as much carbon as someone flying regularly throughout the year does or someone who owns several cars and houses

Notsosweetcaroline · 05/02/2026 12:50

You don’t need to understand the point, as you don’t need to buy it, it is not mandatory. There are many things I don’t like, cullotes, trout, milk. I accept other people do like these things.

DaisyChain505 · 05/02/2026 12:50

The difference with the adult happy meals is that you opt in for it and pay more for the toy. You can buy the exact same meal for cheaper without the toy meaning they’re not just being given to everyone and potentially just thrown away.

Hopefully the people purchasing the happy meals are doing it because they want to toy and will actually keep it.

CandiedPrincess · 05/02/2026 12:52

I think it's great. I got Ross yesterday and he's happily sitting on my desk.

I've been long wishing McDonalds would bring back decent toys in the Happy Meals, the pointless cardboard crap may be recyclable but it's such a waste of money and resources, equally wasteful. At least people collect the toys (and believe me, they REALLY do) whereas the cardboard cutouts of dinosaurs go straight into the bin.

soupyspoon · 05/02/2026 12:53

I dong think people eating at Mcdonalds are that concerned about the environment!!!

And that's ok.

Gowlett · 05/02/2026 12:59

Adult Happy Meals? Never heard of them! Sounds like fun.

My kid loves Happy Meals, likes to get a nice toy or plushy.
We always say “no book please” he never wants the book…

FMLGFastMovingLuxuryGoods · 05/02/2026 13:00

Wait what - we can get adult happy meal toys and they’re friends ones?!

This is good news indeed! Thanks OP!

HeadyLamarr · 05/02/2026 13:01

DD and her university mates all got the Grinch socks Happy Meals.

This is the most fabulously random list of dislikes…

Snorlaxo · 05/02/2026 13:02

I think it’s good when HM toys are high demand franchises like Minecraft and Friends rather than an old random film release. Adult HM toys will be less likely to be thrown away imo as people who aren’t keen on the franchise will buy the cheaper meal on its own.

Is it? How we've been that it's okay for anyone to not give a shit about our planet that we are destroying is beyond me.

Sometimes wish all the ones that don't give a shit would just fuck off and die in toxic fumes. And the rest of us can work towards building a better world.

ShetlandishMum · 05/02/2026 13:07

I would love one!
Sadly we relocated out of UK last Christmas and McD doesn't sell them here.

At least 50% of us at work were wearing them at one point 🤣

Because not everyone has to think the same way

I dont use Mcondalds, Ive probably visited around 3 times in the last 4 years or so, usually for a coffee, most recently because I needed something very quick in the drive through

The drive through is incredibly packed all the time I drive past and look. Full of very expensive cars, car park full of expensive cars, often electric cars

The phrase 'not that concerned' is not the same as 'not giving a shit' as you phrase it. People have priorities. And that is ok.

I have no car. Never travelled for more than 2 hours on a plane. No summer holiday abroad this year or last year. I buy second hand clothes. Have a small home and try to save on the water ... can I go just this one time to McD? Or?

Getting off the Internet would be a good way to give a shit ;)

I'm sure we could also pick apart aspects of your life and show how you "don't give a shit" about the planet

Bathbrushes · 05/02/2026 13:14

cullotes, trout, milk

😂😂😂

ShowMeTheSea · 05/02/2026 13:16

On the rare occasions I go to McDonald’s I always have a happy meal because I don’t want massive portions. I know quite a few people who do this. I always select ‘no toy’.

Several years ago I wrote to them suggesting they do happy meals designed for adults containing useful things like a little pack of tissues, or a sewing kit, or some cotton buds, or a mini notebook.
I got a fairly frosty message back saying they never take people’s suggestions. 🤷🏼‍♀️
I’m guessing it’s because they don’t want people saying they should be paid a cut of the profits for their idea. I wasn’t bothered about getting any credit, it would just be nice to have a happy meal with small portions, marketed at me as an adult. Appreciate this is a tiny ridiculous non-issue. 😊

Snorlaxo · 05/02/2026 13:23

I hope that none of the posters using the environment as a stick to beat others with aren’t the same people who reply “ask AI” to posts.
