McDonald’s Adult Happy Meals

To not understand the point in the silly cartoon Friends toys? I thought McDonald’s was trying to cut down on plastic waste? Surely make the kids happy meals better with decent toys rather than the adult ones!

Personally I probably won’t get them, I don’t get McDonald’s often. I’m a massive friends fan though and it’s a cute idea for older kids and adults. 🙂

youalright · 05/02/2026 16:04

I love it i have phoebe and Ross so far I want to collect them all. Friends is one of my favourite TV shows and I want to display them on my windowsill

MyCatLovesCardboard · 05/02/2026 16:06

I wouldn’t worry. War and conflict will get us all before plastic.

I dong think people eating at Mcdonalds are that concerned about the environment!!!

And that's ok.

It’s really not ok.

Uck. The phrase Adult Happy Meals just makes me think of adult nappies. I think this must be because they seem to be aimed at giving adults a sickly kind of thrill by infantilising them.

(I mean, obvs most adults using nappies aren't doing it for the thrill, but the guilty-junk-food context of a MacDonalds meal pulls the idea of depraved pleasures to the front of my mind.)

Wtf 😳 nobody else is thinking this your own twisted mind has thought that up all by yourself. Adults like these for the nostalgia nothing else.

Trainup · 05/02/2026 16:16

I have a friend really into collectibles who loves these. It’s really not very kind to look down your nose at something others will enjoy.

suki1964 · 05/02/2026 16:17

Im over 60 and I will use McDonald's and will eat a happy meal, its enough for a lunch and I can join the grandkids

Before the GKids, I could join the kids. Back in those days the toys were always collectables , but also going to McD's was a treat - hence the collectables - pester power

The grandkids haven't seemed to be bothered with the toys for goodness how long so I guess they arent clamouring to be taken again, and at the same time going to Mc D's is no longer a "treat"

There used to be another hamburger place that I can no longer remember the name of, they did a jacket spud with sour cream which I loved whilst the kids had their happy meals

1000x

I always pour my cup out to a proper one if we have taken the food home. Paper straws are useless.

Particularly for their smoothies. The straw has completely given up by the time I’m two thirds down the drink.

LifeisLemons · 05/02/2026 16:55

ADULT Happy Meals. 😳

Goodness, I initially thought that this was some new sex related thing. 😂

TBF, I live very rurally so never visit McDonalds or other fast food places. We don’t even have takeaway shops nearby.

If we have to visit the city, we often stay overnight in a hotel and I’ll get a takeaway (usually Indian) as an occasional treat.

Glitchymn1 · 05/02/2026 16:57

Yes pointless crap- but some people like it.

LionKing88 · 05/02/2026 16:58

I think its genius of them - allowing adults and teenagers to be nostalgic for happy meals. Although i do agree about the plastic. At Christmas they did a grinch adult happy meal that had a pair of socks as a gift - that was a really cool gift!

I think they should aim for more things like that.

Tableforjoan · 05/02/2026 16:58

All these people thinking of sex.

You’ve all had too many HAPPY ENDINGS 🤣🤣🫣

If McDonald’s suddenly start offering those we got problems.

On the rare occasions I go to McDonald’s I always have a happy meal because I don’t want massive portions. I know quite a few people who do this. I always select ‘no toy’.

Several years ago I wrote to them suggesting they do happy meals designed for adults containing useful things like a little pack of tissues, or a sewing kit, or some cotton buds, or a mini notebook.
I got a fairly frosty message back saying they never take people’s suggestions. 🤷🏼‍♀️
I’m guessing it’s because they don’t want people saying they should be paid a cut of the profits for their idea. I wasn’t bothered about getting any credit, it would just be nice to have a happy meal with small portions, marketed at me as an adult. Appreciate this is a tiny ridiculous non-issue. 😊

You order from the Saver menu for a smaller meal tbh

TenTenTenAgain · 05/02/2026 17:01

@Tableforjoan They're not bad for the environment so many on this thread would approve.

A McNugget meal and a happy ending please 🤣🤣

Tableforjoan · 05/02/2026 17:03

Just hold the plastic toy 🤨😉

Moonlightfrog · 05/02/2026 15:06

I think it’s supposed to be fun? 🤔

I love the idea of it, a shame I am on a diet and the grilled chicken wrap isn’t a part of the adult happy meal 😭.

I remember when happy meal toys used to be really good. I still have the beanie babies from the late 90’s and I remember them doing mini/travel games. They kind of went down hill and became plastic tat before they started doing books and cardboard rubbish. The friends mini figures are pretty cool and I enjoyed the grinch socks at Christmas.

There are Dobble games in the Kids Happy Meals atm

LaurieFairyCake · 05/02/2026 17:04

They live in our camping box. Nice and small games.

Newsenmum · 05/02/2026 17:04

Unfortunately this makes me want to go and get one 😳 And I dont eat macdonalds normally. Gahh. You are not BU but it’s very clever.

TenTenTenAgain · 05/02/2026 17:07

There seems to be a weird idea on mumsnet that all plastic is 'plastic tat'. I would argue that if I get a friends figure with a meal and add it to my collection for display then it's not tat at all.

Same, perfect for taking on trips

Tableforjoan · 05/02/2026 17:08

My mother still has the Wombles mc Donald’s toys and the Ty beanies.

Dh still has his Pokemon cards from McDonald’s and the cinema.

GreenIsTheColourOfMyHoliday · 05/02/2026 17:08

HAPPY meal might explain why so much of MN is against it 🤣

Maybe they would approve of the Yungblud unhappy meal they did in America 😅
