Is this benefitting her or women in general? I’m really unimpressed

nb: this post is about Emily atack and her latest extremely sexual photos in the press

Why why why!!!!! She’s already successful, lots of money, seemingly intelligent and has a child and partner. Why why why do women keep wanting to come across as sex dolls? I really don’t understand especially as she has spoken about her experience of sexual assault before. Do so many women feel like the most important thing to them in life is still being classed as a ‘wanted, needed by men, sexual being’ above everything else? This can’t be for money purposes.

Is this benefitting her or women in general? I’m really unimpressed

Britney was 16 years old.

She was. Being corrected on this by a PP really annoyed me. I do fact check and I said Britney was 10 years younger because Sabrina is 26 and Britney was 16 in a visible bra under a school shirt! It's important because by and large the age of consent in the US is 18.

Telling women they shouldn't dress certain ways and shouldn't be sexual because it might tempt the menfolk definitely is misogynistic

But she didn’t say anything about what women SHOULD be doing. She said she didn’t understand WHY someone would behave like that.
She didn’t say it would invite sexual assault; she said it was strange to do this after being sexually assaulted. This is different.
There is nothing misogynistic in any of this..

So after being sexually assaulted she should dress like a nun forever?

Why is it strange to advertise underwear after being sexually assaulted?

Haven't read the whole thread as I hated the insinuation that women must only act in a way beneficial to other women....

... but I LOVE the thought that Chappell Roan dresses the way she does for the male gaze 😂😂

Some Mumsnetters really do live in a bubble 😂

Well known lesbian dresses for men to look at her 🤣🤣🤣

No she definitely did say women shouldn't do it

Look at her other posts

And linking what a woman wears to being assaulted is misogyny

It’s hilarious.
The idea that women exclusively dress for the male gaze it utter nonsense. I’m bisexual and my experience has been that women are far more interested in lingerie and dressing up. There are groups of women who dress exclusively for the female gaze and actively seek out female spaces to be able to indulge this without men being present.

I have looked at her other posts.
Saying you personally dislike something is not the same as saying people “ shouldn’t “ do it.

As for “ misogyny “, I’m an old school feminist and honestly don’t look at it in the same way.

I’m afraid you’ll have to figure that out for yourself.

Sizzling in pvc🙄
Didn’t she complain about all the sexually motivated trolls that wouldn’t leave her alone just a few years ago?

PollyBell · 03/02/2026 19:57

There is endless examples on here about women desperate over men and whatever attention is thrown their way? And women who stay with awful men because 'he loves me' it is delusional but is anyone really surprised she had done this

But also why can't a women decide for herself what she does? She is an individual who can think for herself? I am sick of this 'sisterhood' nonsense

Er , well, this is not exactly a thread of respectful and rational debate, is it?

Spirallingdownwards · 03/02/2026 20:57

CoffeeMumForever · 03/02/2026 14:39

Absolutely not the case. I just wouldn’t want my own daughter growing up seeing women like her in the spotlight clearly selling herself via sex and normalising this behaviour. Surely there’s more to life? Come on women, move past the obsession of sex, regardless of it it’s for yourself, other women or men.

Could you hoik your judgy pants up any higher?

SixtySomething · 03/02/2026 20:57

Unfortunately not.
It’s a thread full of misogyny and judgemental attitudes towards women.

HateBeingInsideMyHead · 03/02/2026 21:05

I used to model in FMH wearing underwear

I have a PhD and a successful, professional career

I was repeatedly raped by an ex partner

None of these things have any bearing on any of the other. The comments on this thread are utterly shameful
