Is this benefitting her or women in general? I’m really unimpressed

nb: this post is about Emily atack and her latest extremely sexual photos in the press

Why why why!!!!! She’s already successful, lots of money, seemingly intelligent and has a child and partner. Why why why do women keep wanting to come across as sex dolls? I really don’t understand especially as she has spoken about her experience of sexual assault before. Do so many women feel like the most important thing to them in life is still being classed as a ‘wanted, needed by men, sexual being’ above everything else? This can’t be for money purposes.

Is this benefitting her or women in general? I’m really unimpressed

There is no misogyny here.
Many people quite reasonably feel that such pictures cheapen women.
secondly, that this is kowtowing to the patriarchy by adopting patriarchal behaviour and calling it ‘freedom’, when in reality it’s subservience.

Thirdly, there are many ways to make a living. Some are dignified, some are not. Reducing oneself to a sexual object with the intention of titillation is, in many people’s view, not a dignified way to make money.

None of these opinions are connected in any way with misogyny, quite the reverse.

Name calling does no favours to your pov.

Saying these photos and being overtly sexual mean you should expect men to assault you IS misogyny though

SixtySomething · 04/02/2026 13:45

HighLadyofTheNightCourt · 04/02/2026 13:33

What you have just posted is known as slut shaming. Which is a form of misogyny.
Blaming women for being responsible in some way for their sexual assault and harassment is also considered misogynistic.

So yes, there have been multiple misogynistic comments on this thread, yours included.

No it is not ‘slut’ shaming.
It is a considered and reasonable point of view.

You POV, unfortunately, relies on insults and name calling.

I am, and have always been, a feminist.
I don’t feel the need to insult people who think differently from myself.

Unfortunately, it’s not possible to have a meaningful discussion with people who deal in cliches and stereotypes, resorting to abuse when challenged.

So what was that about freedom?
Please allow me my freedom!

Boomer55 · 04/02/2026 13:47

If she’s happy, then good for her. No one else’s worry.

It is slut shaming - you are shaming them for being more overtly sexual than you like

It's telling women they are responsible for men's actions too

You are absolutely not a feminist if you hold any stance that makes women responsible for the action of men and that implies women should "cover up" around them. Or that women can't be sexy and wear certain clothing off their own decision and are only doing so to please the men (of which they might not even be attracted to!)

No one is being abusive or using insults

LoftyPlumLion · 04/02/2026 13:54

51% versus 49% too close to call.
definitely need to vote again with that margin. No meaningful decisions of any sort should be made unless a proper majority is reached.

HighLadyofTheNightCourt · 04/02/2026 13:54

No it is not ‘slut’ shaming.
Yes it is. Perhaps you might want to look up the definition.

It is a considered and reasonable point of view.
It is YOUR point of view and is considered by many to be misogynistic.

You POV, unfortunately, relies on insults and name calling.

Does it? If you are offended by being called a misogynist then maybe you should stop posting misogynistic comments.

I am, and have always been, a feminist.

How is victim blaming and slut shaming feminist behaviour?

Unfortunately, it’s not possible to have a meaningful discussion with people who deal in cliches and stereotypes, resorting to abuse when challenged.

What cliches and stereotypes do I deal in exactly? And how have I abused you?

So what was that about freedom?
Please allow me my freedom!

You have the freedom to be misogynistic. Just as I have the freedom to challenge it.

It's a written forum. You write. You don't need to wait to 'get a word in'.

You made a post with the sole purpose of generating misogynistic abuse towards a named and pictured individual. A number of people, myself included, have called out your blatant misogyny, victim blaming and slut shaming.

How did you expect the thread to develop? What responses were you expecting?

Obviously expecting everyone to agree and join in with the slut shaming

Indeed. God forbid women embrace their sexuality, enjoy sex or enjoy feeling sexy.

If you haven't noticed any victim blaming then I think you need to read the thread again. There's been plenty.

Why should anyone have respect for people who's viewpoint is misogynistic?

No one who dislikes these pictures is victim blaming or being misogynistic. They just don't like the pictures, or such behaviour.

No one has said that women bring assaults onto themselves by wearing sexually provocative clothing. I'm sure everyone here agrees that sexual assault is a crime and should never be excused or condoned.

OP simply said she was surprised that this woman, whoever she is, promotes herself is such a sexually explicit way, when she has been the victim of sexual assault.
It's the same as saying it's surprising that someone who nearly drowned chose to work as a sailor. You would think the experience would put them off working in the mileu. It's nothing like saying she has brought assault on herself. I think you should stop and think before attacking others who think differently from yourselves.

Sadly, the women who are so busy shouting insults don't have time to reflect and realise that they are genuinely liable to be considered misogynistic for defending clothing which is promoted by the patriarchy and exploits women for financial gain.

Just so much hot air and so little reflection!

Or women are intelligent enough to make their own choices regarding what they wear and how they spend their money?
