To think there needs to be a points strategy for voting.

As we are all aware, there are some seriously concerning political views held by some of the nation.

In a bid to make sure that the vote is done fairly, and more substantiated by people with the intelligence to vote properly - I think it should be along the lines of this.

2 votings points to those who have completed university or a degree.
1 voting point to those who have completed GCSE of 3 C’s and above.
0.5 voting point to those with anything less than that.
0.25 voting point to members of society who have been convicted previously.

I've got my 25m swimming badge, do I get more for that??

Definitely.

Everyone gets a vote if over 18 and we accept that not everyone agree with us?!

Yep.

That's how it always should be.

BigYellowBus · 29/01/2026 18:01

You do know that there are 12 million people in Britain with criminal records (and not all by Ed Sheeran!). What happens if they also have a degree?

StarofWonderStarofLight · 29/01/2026 15:22

Stop referencing that person on my threads. This is about UK politics.

And it’s devastating to your argument 🤣 There are English people like Trump. They would have more points.

What about people in the forces? Can fight for their country but have no say in how it’s run?

Stupid argument.

Eskarina1 · 29/01/2026 18:06

I get it, I do. You see people repeating things that directly contradict widely available and indisputable evidence and it's genuinely upsetting to know they control my future. That we could lose free at the point of need health care or abortion rights because of it.

But... the alternative is worse. We cannot have two tiers of people or disenfranchise them from control. We can't have a ruling class. And since it's the remains of the ruling class that are manipulating voters I wouldn't trust them anyway.

Ah now, well, it would depend on whether or not they are a homeowner, wouldn't it?

Definitely.

what about cycling proficiency?
blue peter badge?
queen’s guide?

Judging by this thread, we'd have no way of telling whether the people with more than one vote have any grey matter with which to work out the way to the polling station.

Port1aCastis · 29/01/2026 18:09

I bagsie more points because I own several holiday let's which I inherited, as there are 8 cottages I qualify for 16 points plus a few more for having a degree 3A levels and a few GCSEs.

brunettemic · 29/01/2026 18:11

Is this a real question?

All of those. But points are deducted if:

You don't pick up after your dog.
The indicators on your car don't work.
You have fairy lights outside your house all year round.

No, it's just a teenage boy who should probably be doing his homework instead deciding to mess around on MN by winding up posters here with a poor attempt at being an agent provocateur!

Still. Never mind, eh? Gives you something to get your teeth into while you're waiting for your quiche to cook.

Yes, and, as internet irritants go, this one is pretty cute, much more engaging and, hopefully deliberately, hilarious than most of the nuisances on here. If I believed for a moment that the OP was in earnest I would be slightly disturbed but, since it's an obvious, if not terribly subtle, wind-up I am willing to be indulgent.

You mean this University educated ? - rampant socialists......but only until they themselves have to start paying tax

Best answer yet.

justpassmethemouse · 29/01/2026 18:27

Guys this idea is brilliant, we are all missing the point because we didn’t go to LSE - if only we had!

My quiche is cooked, the pastry was so awful I had to cut it off and pretend I'd made frittata. Hopefully I won't lose points for making shit short crust.

Age discrimination isn’t really a thing as they could still use their 1 point vote whilst awaiting completion of their diploma.

Voting properly means an understanding of what they’re actually voting for. Not just to jump on the bandwagon or TikTok propaganda.

Attending uni doesn't automatically make you able to do that or make one logically sound. In fact, having this sort of non-critical thinking in the OP should rank high in the low intelligence scale - university degree or not.

Not at all. You gained one for a successful cover-up.

MargaretThursday · 29/01/2026 18:38

They used to do something like this back in the middle ages I think. The more strips of land you had the more votes you got.

As someone who would get the 2 votes, I think it's a terrible idea.

BigYellowBus · 29/01/2026 18:41

Do I get more for having additional professional qualifications?

Yeah, my fire marshall certificate must count for something

DaughterOfPearl · 29/01/2026 18:44

Hang on, sod being a homeowner. What about landowners? I reckon an extra point per acre should cover it!

Only if not inherited property.

Well democracy is dead in the region where I live as the local elections have been cancelled by the Labour government.

I received a letter yesterday telling me that my vote is important yet went on to say that I would be unable to vote in the coming election.

I never envisioned a day when this would happen in our country. I am shocked and fear for the U.K.
