To think there needs to be a points strategy for voting.

As we are all aware, there are some seriously concerning political views held by some of the nation.

In a bid to make sure that the vote is done fairly, and more substantiated by people with the intelligence to vote properly - I think it should be along the lines of this.

2 votings points to those who have completed university or a degree.
1 voting point to those who have completed GCSE of 3 C’s and above.
0.5 voting point to those with anything less than that.
0.25 voting point to members of society who have been convicted previously.

One person one vote - seems fine to me, let's stick with that.

SnackQueen · 29/01/2026 17:30

So will you be eligible to 1 voting point or 0.5 voting points? I’m assuming the latter.

maydayjun · 29/01/2026 17:31

All we need to do is encourage everyone to actually use their vote.

I’ll be entitled to 4 votes

Far too many people don't vote at all. We need to encourage everyone to use their vote.

minipie · 29/01/2026 17:33

If we’re going to have restrictions, I’d rather see people have to demonstrate that they have at least read the main parties’ manifestos (maybe by passing a short quiz?) before they are allowed to vote. That makes more sense and at least ensures the vote is somewhat informed.

As you are 12, you can't vote.

Aww shit, I'm only on three points. Can I have a couple more for being a veteran please? And a couple more for each of my two daughters who were brought up so well they went to uni?

Thanks in advance!

Oh, hang on. I wasn't born in the UK - does that take some off?

Edited to add I'm also a homeowner (mortgage free) and do not have any debt.

Is that because you have had 16 previous convictions?

No it’s due to having 2 for university and 2 for home owner

You go girl! I follow the Tower Hamlets Playbook when it comes to voting so I expect to have 39,533 postal votes to work with.

A wendy house doesn't count.

sprigatito · 29/01/2026 17:41

You explain to me how you are going to remove all the barriers to educational success - racism, sexism, poverty of opportunity, just to start you off - and then we can have a conversation about your brilliant idea (and we can tell you all the other ways in which it’s horseshit).

Too many spelling mistakes.

I think you get two of her points, one for speed and one for wit.

Oh but surely Oxbridge is 6, Russell Group is 4, Redbrick Universities are 2 and ex Polytechnics are only 1?

Does a static caravan count as a home owner? Shouldn't 4 bed detached and bigger get more points?

Unfortunately, you need to deduct 5 votes for the inability to use punctuation.

JonesTown · 29/01/2026 17:45

@BlackCatDiscoClub

Yes, the University of Dundee is elite for certain subjects like law and medicine.

Having Dundee on the list would also ensure more equal geographic representation of these university voters.

There's also an argument that newer but high-quality institutions like Strathclyde, Warwick or Newcastle could be grouped together into constituencies.

Their graduates would then have a greater say than the general population, but not as much as Edinburgh or Cambridge alumni.

JonesTown · 29/01/2026 17:47

@sprigatito

Females outperform males at all levels of education, so I'm not sure how you can argue sexism is a barrier to educational success.

loislovesstewie · 29/01/2026 17:49

Do I get more for having additional professional qualifications?

Oh come on, I know this is a joke thread but the art of good satire is to make your comic creations at least vaguely plausible. The 'No Adults Allowed!' sign on your bedroom door in your parents' house does not make you a home owner.
Since you're probably thirteen the alleged degree seems far-fetched too. I doubt you even qualify for the GCSE points.
I am, however, willing to conceed that you have probably thoroughly read 'Baby's First Guide to Irritating strangers on the Internet', so, congratulations on beginning your studies at least!

Right. I must have missed that but no I do not agree with that.

You actually quoted it yourself and agreed with that poster. Read your post at 3:15.

loislovesstewie · 29/01/2026 17:52

I am finding this thread quite amusing. I had forgotten how silly a 12/13 year old can be.

Lmnop22 · 29/01/2026 17:54

Everyone gets a vote if over 18 and we accept that not everyone agree with us?!

I've got my 25m swimming badge, do I get more for that??
