Holocaust memorial day.

I will light a candle tonight and hope others might do too.

Silent remembrance.

✡️🕯️
I will remember them.
And can I share here a lovely Kaddish?
Glorified and sanctified be God’s great name throughout the world
which He has created according to His will.
May He establish His kingdom in your lifetime and during your days,
and within the life of the entire House of Israel, speedily and soon;
and say, Amen.
May His great name be blessed forever and to all eternity.
Blessed and praised, glorified and exalted, extolled and honored,
adored and lauded be the name of the Holy One, blessed be He,
beyond all the blessings and hymns, praises and consolations that
are ever spoken in the world; and say, Amen.
May there be abundant peace from heaven, and life, for us
and for all Israel; and say, Amen.
He who creates peace in His celestial heights,
may He create peace for us and for all Israel;
and say, Amen.

Thank you for sharing 😊

I should have added, this is not an aibu, or a discussion thread.

It's a quiet memorial for victims of the Holocaust.

Thank you for understanding.

🕊🕯

then ask to move it into Chat if you want to avoid a bun fight. Or 30 Days.

If you post in AIBU you are going to get AIBU type answers. You can't dictate how people answer, unfortunately.

I won't be able to light a physical candle (for reasons too lengthy to explain) but I will light a candle in my heart to honour them. My father was one of the first British medics to witness the unadulterated evil of the Nazi regime at Bergen Belsen. Let no-one ever be in any doubt.

My Uncle Johnny was there. I'll think also of your dear father.💛

murasaki · 27/01/2026 13:17

Thanks, I will light one.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 27/01/2026 13:18

Will do.

Swiftie1878 · 27/01/2026 13:19

I was unaware but will definitely light a candle this evening. Thank you x

scorpiogirly · 27/01/2026 13:20

Very relevant considering current climate both here and the US and many other places in the world.

Thankyou OP.

Yes this ❤️

Thank you Kitty. I will be thinking of Johnny too. God bless.

With you @IWillNeverForget. My late grandfather was in a RAMC unit in WWII - he was, like @ginasevern's father and @KittyWilkinson's uncle, in with the division that liberated Bergen Belsen. He never could sleep at night after then, for the rest of his long life.

I wish we would learn the lessons from history. But some refuse to.

In loving and respectful memory. x

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 27/01/2026 13:48

Thank you. I usually do, and will tonight.

Edited

I could've written this myself REP. My father too was in the RAMC and had terrible nightmares after witnessing Belsen. He had always been a strong Roman Catholic but lost his faith too. He was essentially a broken man.

loislovesstewie · 27/01/2026 14:07

May their memories be a blessing forever.

I shall light a candle tonight and remember.

ERthree · 27/01/2026 14:11

A candle will burn bright here.

Somethingsnapped · 27/01/2026 14:16

Thank you op. I will, and I'll be thinking of them all, including my own grandfather's parents, murdered by the nazis.
