If anyone is observing the carnage in Minneapolis.....

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/live/2026/jan/24/minneapolis-shooting-live

Guardian is running a live feed, and a good unbiased source is Agenda Free TV on YouTube also running live feeds from the streets there.

Obviously multiple versions of events being thrown about as it's very fresh.

Sending solidarity across the pond to any US Mumsnetters in the locale and protesting the awful actions of ICE and disregard of your constitution by the "President".

"The closest to it would be that when one officer disarmed him, he accidentally fired prompting the others thinking it was pretti shooting....nah, that doesn't make any sense. They surely would have all seen that the gun was in one of the officers hand, not Pretti."

I don't think most people would be that clear-headed in that scenario. They are all focussed on him on the ground, someone shouts "Gun" then a shot rings out, they start to step back , assume it came from the guy on the ground are unsighted because of all the other agents, and instinctively open fire.

I imagine in cases with actual armed assailants split second delays can be fatal...

If they start shooting having seen the man being disarmed and on such a flimsy basis as that, they have no business doing that job. This is why we have really careful training in the use of firearms by police officers in the UK.

Greenmouldycheese · 25/01/2026 09:58

I think ICE are doing a worthwhile job and the agents are extremely brave, but I just watched that video and its clear to see it was murder. The gun was taken, he was already in the floor surrounded. There was no need to shoot this man no matter how rabid he was behaving.

The agents work in a high stress job, they have been doxed and had their families threatened. They are obviously in high alert, but this was a man who didnt pose a threat or need to die. They need to get out of there before more murders happen and concentrate in other areas.

Shakeoffyourchains · 25/01/2026 10:00

Reminder that Kyle Rittenhouse showed up to a protest like this and the Republican/MAGA lot called him a hero.

Amazing how cowardly and spineless the "don't tread on me" crowd actually are.

What is going on in minnesota is intentional disruption to try to distract people from the democrats' billions of dollar fraud, funneled through the somalian daycare centres. I hope there were posts on here about that.. though I can't say I saw any. 🤷🏻‍♀️

There were plenty of threads about it. You should try the search facility but I guess that wouldn’t suit your narrative.

This is political, if he wanted immigrants out he’d target Florida or Texas but that wouldn’t do as they’re red 🤔

But yeah keep making excuses for state sanctioned murder.

thepariscrimefiles · 25/01/2026 10:01

2021x · 25/01/2026 07:56

This is a good example. Rather than asking me why this is what I saw you are jumping straight to an perception that I would excuse murder.

This is exaclty why Trump is winning.

No, Trump is winning because racist, uneducated, ignorant and spiteful people voted for him because he hates all the people that they hate, e.g. immigrants, trans people, Muslims, people of colour and five year olds in hats with bunny ears and Spider Man backpacks.

" 77 million Americans voted for Trump to sort out illegal immigration. He’s carrying out what he was voted in to do."

Good grief. I don't think any sane person voted for it to be OK for citizens to be murdered in the street.

I think many did , and just didn’t give two fucks because they lack the empathy to care and are full of hate. The sad fact is that a not insignificant amount of people get their kicks out of other people’s suffering in life, especially when they believe those people are subhuman.

Same reasons we never learn from history and it keeps repeating over and over again. People were warned about this exact thing happening before the election, they don’t get to play innocent.

The prospect of anything close to this happening in the UK in three years time is petrifying and my WW2 veteran grandfather would be spinning in his grave. I just hope the world wakes up soon!!

HighStreetOtter · 25/01/2026 10:05

Walkden · 25/01/2026 09:50

"Otherwise why not fully involve the Minneapolis police?"

I'm not familiar with all of us law but if considered a federal crime don't the FBI take precedence?

Plus of course trump would say that the justice system in the us has been politically weaponised against him and he seems to have done the same against democrats hence Joe biden pardoning his son so the checks and balances have broken down somewhat

The FBI agent assigned to “investigate “ the last shooting of Renee Good has quit citing pressure to clear the ICE agent. Seems it’s very hard for people to actually do their jobs. It’s a total dictatorship.

Help me out here... Are you saying that to distract from fraud, left leaning citizens are deliberately getting themselves killed? If this is the case, couldn't ICE be a bit smarter and not kill them, hence no distraction

The democrats invited ICE in to murder civilians?

If this is about distraction (rather than a blatant political violence) then it's probably on the side of who started it. The Trump administration.

Wonder what they want to distract from?

I've known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy. He's a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side

Or maybe distract from the fact that the president has a literal conviction for fraud...

HighStreetOtter · 25/01/2026 10:09

So imagine Reform win the election and Farage sets up snatch squads on the streets of the uk. Turns a blind eye to courts, appeals, judges, human rights act, etc and just puts people in deportation centres and then onto flights out the uk.

I imagine there would be quite a few people in this country who would be delighted. They’d initially say oh well they shouldn’t be here illegally. And then anyone who looked like they might be from another country starts getting stopped in the street and then suddenly a few more people start complaining.

I never thought what we are seeing in the USA could happen in a civilised country so am now concerned it could happen here. I’m so upset at the deaths and stories like that 5yo boy who has been put in a detention centre, Snatched out his garden on the way home from school.

Exactly. I don’t doubt that there’s no shortage of people over there who are still majorly pissed off that lynching isn’t socially acceptable anymore. Those were the days, eh!?

Brefugee · 25/01/2026 10:12

i don’t understand how the same people so vociferously defending their 2nd amendment rights now somehow seem to think carrying a legal weapon while recording ICE means they have every right to execute you on the spot.

in an interesting twist the NRA and the GOA (Gun Owners Association) who never make a peep when it's pre-schoolers being murdered by a person(with a gun) have asked for an independent investigation because the nurse's 2nd, 4th and 14th amendment rights have been violated.

When you are ICE and the NRA is not on your side, you need to seriously think about what you are doing.

Terrifying thought. You are right though, it's a creep that escalates quickly to the point where anyone who doesn’t look or talk in a certain way should be very, very fearful. I think more people need to be reminded of how this has all happened before. It can't be allowed to get to that point again.

They deserve the doxing (but not threats, especially to their families)

Because they are accountable. People who voted/support Trump have blood on their hands. Every. Single. One. Of. Them.

We have a relatively independent judiciary and separation of powers so constitutionally a totally different set up to that of the US. Our constitution means it would be very difficult to degenerate into what's happening in the US. The President has pretty much unlimited power - he should be impeached or retired on grounds of ill health.

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 25/01/2026 10:16

The revisionism, blatant lies and shameless gaslighting on this thread are amongst the most sickening things that I have ever read on MN.

It is abundantly clear from the video footage that an innocent man has been brutally murdered in the streets by federal agents, but some posters are choosing to ignore the evidence and make up shit that is evidently untrue in order to discredit this man's character.

You are fooling nobody by seeking to defend the indefensible. History will judge you. We judge you. One day, perhaps, you will come to your senses and judge yourselves. And I pity you, because the shame will be unbearable.

That’s why Farage is hell bent on getting rid of ECHR, workers rights, equality act etc. It’s all designed so there is no recourse for any of us against anything that reform do.

He’s already said in the past he also wants the UK to repeal its gun laws. Whether people can carry guns or not won’t really matter though, there could still be a lot of unlawful violence.

Oh and the OBR is another he wants to remove as well, so that he can just rip the country off with no oversight.

It’s all so blatant and yet people can’t see it.

…and it’s even worse than that. American citizens are not even safe from deportation. Plus, they don’t necessarily deport immigrants to the countries from whence they came; they’re happily dispatching them to a third country. It’s beyond heartless.

Or perhaps because you don't win elections by demonising a lot of everyday decent people with slurs.

As a previous poster said 77m people in the us voted for trump.

100%

I was getting riled up by certain posters on this thread but at least I know I won't be looking back in 20 years time wondering why I was happy to lie about an innocent man who had just been executed in cold blood by the state.

This is the problem with some of the left. Its very clear from reading comments like this that there is so much hate. No one should be doxed! Its incredibly dangerous and we all know there are insane people out there who would try to cause harm to the family. These agents are in a high stress job and constantly have people being hostile towards them. Mistakes this this are going to continue to happen unless people actually protest peacefully.

Ginmonkeyagain · 25/01/2026 10:23

On the Renee Goode thing, and the people excusing her shooting on the grounds that ICE officials feared she was going to drive at them.

Perhaps UK law enforcement officials are better trained, but we recently had an incident where someone was clearly deliberately driving a car at civilians and emergency workers. The police not only managed to stop the car but also extract the perpetrator broadly unharmed and remove him to safety in an understandably volatile situation.
