I know anyone can join and that's fair enough, I'm not actually trying to impose my wish on anyone or the site but it still always annoys me when I am reading thought a thread where a woman is posting for advice from other women and a man pops up saying "speaking as a man" or "from a blokes perspective" I always want to say I'm not interested in what you think right now, there is a whole world of "men's opinions" shoved down our throats from the time we are little girls and all though our lives on every aspect of our bodies, what we do and think. I'd love just one space like this with lots of women without it having men interject and that is before we even get to the men who pitch up looking for permission to have affairs or get their jollies from dubious posts.

There are loads of super helpful men here. And nice Dads who need and can give parenting support like the rest of us.

prh47bridge has given invaluable support on schools and family law for decades.

There are knobhead men - there are also too many knob head women!

Just deal with or ignore each post as you think fit.

OMG prh47bridge is a man?! Mind…blown. Perfect example of someone who never starts anything with ‘man here’.

Yes but - I don't want their advice. I want advice from women. I've had enough of their unwarranted advice for far too long.

I do scroll by, but I'm still allowed to say I don't like it.

Daisywhatsyouranswer · 20/01/2026 14:23

Quite frankly I’ve seen more mysogynistic mean comments from women to other women on here, so meh, no, I take no issue with men commenting, they’d have to really ramp it up to even come close to some of the shitty comments women attack each other with on here.

moofolk · 20/01/2026 14:23

I accidentally voted YABU but 100% YANBU!

although like you I don’t know what can be done about it, having men here pisses me off!

MyMilchick · 20/01/2026 14:25

What's more annoying is when women post things like "My husband just said that you should -insert manadvice here"

travelanxious91 · 20/01/2026 14:17

Yes agreed. You can often immediately tell the man on the thread as its often a cold, unsympathetic and often covertly sexist response. And agree that it's good to know that they are men rather than thinking a woman has this view, which is the assumed sex on this forum unless said otherwise.

Often it is a woman, you can look at history. Sure it’s not a given, but more often than not it’s women attacking women on here.

parenting, appearance, weight, relationships, dress, working mums, sahms, you name it, and there is often a woman just gagging to judge.

lers not pretend women all support each other in some mythical sisterhood.

But what if that advice is actually useful. Is it suddenly not, because they’re a man?

I’ll add that I am absolutely definitely a woman. 😂

That I agree with. It annoys rhe fuck out of me too. I asked my husband and he said x. Or on how much do you earn threads, my husband earns x, who gives a shiny shit.

He has been on here for years, but I think it’s easy to tell by his writing style that’s he is a man.

Oh god, worm, cans, open

Are you allowed to say woman anymore?? 😂

GOD that winds me up.

“My husband pays tax, my husband doesn’t like cheese, my husband thinks our son is a unicorn, my husband works so hard for our family, I’m so proud of him he’s my favouritest person ever.”

I would much prefer the actual husband turns up and speaks for himself.

Growlybear83 · 20/01/2026 14:29

I welcome contributions from men, although I have no idea how you can tell a lot of the time. I would never join any organisation, forum, etc thst tried to restrict its membership to women.

Placetobreathe · 20/01/2026 14:29

BriefEncountersOfTheThirdKind · 20/01/2026 14:19

Most of those are probably just women with different ideas to you being called men for that simple crime 🤷‍♀️

Some of them are women no doubt.
But a lot aren't.
I have never directly "accused" another pp of being a man but have occasionally searched a user name and found confirmation on another thread that the poster is indeed a man.

Isn't he too busy being very high up in a very important company 😁 This one was rife during covid, it seems to have settled down lately.

Tbh I’ve been accused of being a man when someone doesn’t like what I’ve posted. I promise I’m female.

Edited

I think a lot of them are women, I’ve seen people acccused of being a man and it’s not,

as said, we should not be pretending there is some mythical sisterhood here, as as much as there are women who are kind and supportive I’ve seen regularly women attacking other women on here, women who just ask for advice being ripped apart by other women, and I’ve seen it far far more than I’ve seen men do it.

pretending it must be men is silly, as I think we all know it’s not.

women posting images of other women and ripping them apart, for their weight, clothes, hair, face, women attacking other women foe their parenting choices, partner choices, lifestyle choices. Working or not working choices.

women attacking women on here is hair raising and incredibly dismaying.

There was a trend, certainly a wee while ago, for men who post on forums such as Reddit to come over and post on certain threads on MN. They would post really goady things, generally picking on certain posters. And the they would make fun of the responses they had elicited back on the other forum websites. It was a game to them .

And certainly you see posters whose viewpoints chime with a male agenda, working in tandem with each other on some threads, with the obvious aim of undermining the OP.

The raging hatred of men on MN at times definitely implies men's advice doesn't count even when helpful 🤣

WSCamp · 20/01/2026 14:15

I don't mind men posting at all. It is annoying when they preface their post with "man here!" or similar- who cares? Anyone could be anyone on here so it's the content of the post that counts.

It is so interesting that some posters hate anyone saying "man here" etc and others (up on this thread) hate it if men dont say that and just post!

TheNightingalesStarling · 20/01/2026 14:55

I agree it would be useful if some parts were Female only.

But not the Parenting, Education etc type boards.

Gahr · 20/01/2026 14:55

YABU. There are plenty of unpleasant posters on here, do you really think that the majority of them are male?

Happyjoe · 20/01/2026 14:56

Yes and no for men being here. Sometimes I think it may be useful if men read women's views on a lot of things, esp important things like sexual harassment, abuse - even just dating.
And those who come on to complain about partner, such as lack of sex, I've seen MN'rs really go to town. Lovely!

Same here. I have been told 'listen to women'. Um, I am a woman. I'm just not a misandrist.
