Have we got nothing better to think about than Greenland??

I cannot believe this is dominating the national discussion.

The NHS is fucked
Thousands of undocumented people are entering our country (directly causing an increase in racist sentiment)
The UK is seen as being on a downward spiral in general

Let Denmark work it out.

Surely we have better things to be focusing on!

Stupid

AmberSpy · 19/01/2026 13:49

Trump's threats to Greenland represent a massive potential threat to the international order! It certainly matters to us in the UK if he goes ahead with trying to annex it.

Snoken · 19/01/2026 13:49

None of those things are particualry news worthy anymore. They can't just write about the same issues day in anda day out, nobody would read it. Also, US's current actions affect us all in one way or another.

Artesia · 19/01/2026 13:49

People said much the same about the Sudetenland in 1938 I believe.

Cluborange666 · 19/01/2026 13:49

Shall we hand it over to the orange baby man then? The NHS is working better now than before btw. As for the Farage ferries, who wrecked the Dublin Agreement? Maybe get him to come up with the solution (spoiler alert: he doesn’t have one).

MidnightPatrol · 19/01/2026 13:50

NATO is meaningless if the member states start invading each other.

Hoolahoophop · 19/01/2026 13:50

You for got that the education system is also fucked. As evidenced by your post.

itsgettingweird · 19/01/2026 13:50

If i were you I’d have better things to do with my time - like educating myself about why it matters.

YABVU.

Toastythesnowman · 19/01/2026 13:50

I mean, why worry about the NHS or the general state of the UK, just worry about yourself. We don't need to concern ourselves with anything bigger than our own lives. Stop thinking although, that's better.

🙄🙄🙄

The NHS is not fit for purpose.

It took me 18 months to get a diagnosis for something relatively straightforward.

That's not how the world works.

Sprogonthetyne · 19/01/2026 13:51

A potential war between Europe (which we are part of, geography if not politically) and the US is a pretty big deal. It doesn't mean the other things aren't important, just that it is currently the most acute.

In the same way diabetes or a heart defect might be your most important health issues, but if you brake your leg, that's probably what the Dr is going to be talking to you about that week

cromwell44 · 19/01/2026 13:52

Show that you have no understanding of geopolitics without saying it..

Are you really not capable of thinking about more than one thing at once?!

Yes, all those newspapers famous for only ever printing one story at a time…

Clearinguptheclutter · 19/01/2026 13:52

It’s not about fucking Greenland. Well it partly is, but a potential trade war and/or disintegration of NATO is a huge deal.

if we lose the US from nato Putin will be rubbing his hands with glee

there are many many ways this could lead to ww3.

IAmNotPrepared · 19/01/2026 13:52

International instability is generally something to be concerned about, particularly when it involves the US and other NATO countries. We can be concerned by more than one thing at once.

TheNextStationIs · 19/01/2026 13:52

Yeah, I think the President of the US apparently being an unstoppable, power mad, petty ("it's not fair you didn't give me the Nobel Prize") landgrabbing lunatic with nuclear weapons worthy of comment.

Overtheatlantic · 19/01/2026 13:52

“Waaaa waaaaa! I didn’t get the peace prize so I’m going to invade gweenland!” Shakes baby fist in the air. Shits his Depends.

Severntrent · 19/01/2026 13:53

Its a challenge to the global order and international relations, which has serious implications for the UK as well as other countries. Tariffs would also affect us.
Also, its news - as in a changing situation and quite novel, so it will get more media attention than things which have been about for a long time like problems with the NHS.
That doesn't mean its more or less important to us as individuals than other current issues, but it is likely to get more coverage while its a live issue.

Fimofriend · 19/01/2026 13:53

So if it isn't about something that influences your life right now, the newspapers shouldn't write about it? All righty, then ...

Thats all it is though . Discussion. Bored of hearing the discussion... good to see News

Awww OP. Bless. Maybe do some research into the ramifications of this geopolitical tsunami before you step on that soap box. Naive ignorance isn’t a good look. 😅

Waiting times are reducing a lot. I had amazing treatment from the NHS including a CAT scan on entry to A&E which would have cost me thousands otherwise. Stop complaining. We are so lucky.
