Have we got nothing better to think about than Greenland??

I cannot believe this is dominating the national discussion.

The NHS is fucked
Thousands of undocumented people are entering our country (directly causing an increase in racist sentiment)
The UK is seen as being on a downward spiral in general

Let Denmark work it out.

Surely we have better things to be focusing on!

I can’t believe that anyone would start a thread like this. Apart from the tens of thousands of people who have been murdered in Gaza, I can’t think of anything that is more important than what trump is trying to do - in Greenland and elsewhere in the world.

Crikeyalmighty · 19/01/2026 14:25

I’m afraid ignorance of trade and security and international affairs is huge in UK ( USA too) - the fact is all these things impact what gvts have to spend and what options they have on priorities.

HPFA · 19/01/2026 14:25

How the so-called "patriots" expose themselves.

Fermenting division, littering our built environment with tatty old flags, now they want us to abandon our allies to the lunatic in the White House.

Even Farage knows this is a loser, which is why he's suddenly disappeared from the airwaves.

NautilusLionfish · 19/01/2026 14:26

but OP is thinking about thousands of undocumented immigrants, at once.

uuuuuh may be that's the problem. Thinking about everyone of those immigrants leaves op no space or energy for Greenland or anything else

Let Europe work it out.

The UK is nearer to Greenland than most of Continental Europe is.

Exactly. We may have left the EU but we are still part of Europe and nothing can change that.

Mranke · 19/01/2026 13:55

Im not saying it’s not a concern.

Let Europe work it out.

We’re part of Europe 🙄. I’m assuming this thread is just for shits and giggles cos if you genuinely don’t understand why this matters so much then god fucking help us 🤬.

You for got that the education system is also fucked. As evidenced by your post.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

CitizenofMoronia · 19/01/2026 14:28

Are you actually so dim as to think this will stop at Greenland?? Do you know anything about history? Remember that time Germany invaded Poland? They are part of Nato who were set up exactly to stop this sort of thing happening.

Where do you think Britain is OP? Africa?

I’ll give you clue. It’s between America and Denmark (EU) Which also happen to be our two biggest trading partners. Both of which have nuclear weapons. And lots And lots of guns.

Does it feel any more relevant now you ignoramus?

This Op has made me wonder what Nigel Farage thinks about Greenland. Here are his thoughts as per GB News (two birds with one stone 😀) (For the record, I would never vote Reform and do not watch GB News, before I get slated!)
Nigel Farage slams Donald Trump's 'outrageous' Greenland threats as US President ramps up bid for territory

He’s Trump’s best mate - can he not have a word? 😬

You do realise that the UK is in Europe don't you?
Brexit took us out of the EU not Europe. That is impossible!
I'm not sure if you are being deliberately provoking or whether you are just ignorant !

cocopopps75 · 19/01/2026 14:28

Seriously? You can't see why it may be a little problematic?

I can’t believe you actually posted this OP. Surely you cannot be this clueless.

I think it's pretty clear what party OP votes for. I'll refrain from commenting further...

AnneLovesGilbert · 19/01/2026 14:28

Assuming you’re serious, if NATO crumbles and we have to prioritise defence spending over everything else do you expect things to improve in the NHS?

BlanketyBlankBlank · 19/01/2026 14:28

Mranke · 19/01/2026 13:51

The NHS is not fit for purpose.

It took me 18 months to get a diagnosis for something relatively straightforward.

It’s just saved my life! The service I received was second to none and I will
remain grateful for ever.

Exactly!

We’re not in Europe…. Well last time I looked at an atlas we were!

snowlaser · 19/01/2026 14:30

The potential start of world war 3 is absolutely the key discussion right now.

Wind yourself back a few years to think how it would sound to say "Is Hitler invading Poland and rounding up Jews really our biggest national discussion right now? We are still recovering from the great depression here in 1930s Britain!"

PurpleFlower1983 · 19/01/2026 14:30

Wow. Just wow. You need to do a bit of reading about the ramifications of Trump’s next moves OP.

Meadowfinch · 19/01/2026 14:30

Don't be ridiculous OP, the very security of Europe is being threatened.

The NHS, while important, is a local issue.

Well if you mean completely destabilising the western world by fucking NATO and making world 3 more much more likely????????Yeah who cares about that shit. Not important at all.

For the record, immigrants don't make Britain more racist. Racists make Britain more racist.
You know, much like women don't make rapists more rapey?

People said much the same about the Sudetenland in 1938 I believe.

Brilliantly noted.

Far-right parties in Europe are now abandoning Trumpism - even though parts of the Trump administration have been trying to cultivate them.

Literally this whole crisis is down to Trump being pissed off at not getting the Nobel Peace Prize.

It’s critical that the UK focuses on the Greenland issue because it directly impacts uk national security (and other stuff but let’s say national security is the most important for now).

The Arctic is a critical region for collective defence from Russia and China. Bad players.

Trump messing about trying to ‘buy Greenland’ is preposterous and scary. So people in Europe are working together to stop his craziness. 🤞
