Have we got nothing better to think about than Greenland??

I cannot believe this is dominating the national discussion.

The NHS is fucked
Thousands of undocumented people are entering our country (directly causing an increase in racist sentiment)
The UK is seen as being on a downward spiral in general

Let Denmark work it out.

Surely we have better things to be focusing on!

Indeed!

It's like Kofi Annan's joined Mumsnet. What did we do to deserve this?

Critical thinking skills proudly on display here OP.

If Trump does manage to wrench control of Greenland, Canada will almost certainly be next on his shoplifting list.

Not that it's the main point, but he's already demonstrated his dismissive arrogance by insisting that a country that's actually bigger than his 50 states combined should just become one additional state.

Didn't we used to have a MNer called UterusUterusGhali?! I don't recall seeing her on here for a while, but if she's still around, we really need her now!!

The NHS is not fit for purpose.

It took me 18 months to get a diagnosis for something relatively straightforward.

And how long do you think it will take when we are at war with the USA?

I mean, you probably wont have to worry if I'm honest, if we go to war with the USA -it will be nukes - and the whole world will be a barren wasteland, but you will probably be more worried about your radiation sickness than whatever other issues you have now

Jellycatspyjamas · 19/01/2026 14:13

Mranke · 19/01/2026 13:55

Im not saying it’s not a concern.

Let Europe work it out.

It’s NATO that will potentially need to work it out, and if the US invade a NATO state we’re truly up shit creek. At least we won’t need to worry about the NHS, but if you have children of fighting age I’d be concerned about Greenland.

We are a part of Europe

Imdunfer · 19/01/2026 14:16

Are you completely unaware of the international implications of Trump taking Greenland by force?

A clue - it will probably affect your life a damned sight more than a broken NHS if Trump dismantles NATO.

I think it's really scary how Trump doesn't just desire to own/control other countries and territories; but that he assumes he already does.

How bad does a guy have to become before he doesn't still get an automatic pass as 'one of the good guys'?

I’d bet my house on the last part, why else mention immigration.

Charlotte120221 · 19/01/2026 14:20

Wow.

Explains how someone like Trump can get elected. People genuinely don't understand a political situation as massive as this???

OMG the UK is part of Europe!

Angry Looney Tunes GIF by MOODMAN

But, but, but Brexit! Surely when the 52% voted to leave the EU the country actually moved a lot further out into the Atlantic? What was the point of it otherwise?

My son is serves with the British Army.
Potential conflict and the huge impact Trump is having in the world - in Europe - occupies many, many of my thoughts.

Alright there Chamberlain.

Tryagain26 · 19/01/2026 14:23

It is very, very important. And no Denmark shouldn't just be left alone to sort it out.
If Trump is allowed to just take it over who knows what he will do next?
And things that happen overseas have a huge impact on what happens domestically
I'm worried that some people don't seem to understand that.

NautilusLionfish · 19/01/2026 14:23

i agree with you op. Let Trump tak Greenland. Putin take Ukraine. If Argentina wants Falklands, let them have it. Oh if Trump wants to kidnap Starmer or Nato's Rutto or whoever let him do it. Dont even report it. Lets focus on Nhs and undocumented immigrants and report that and only that. Oh and the downward spiral. The spiral thats seen the lowest crime rate in a decade.

btw, who didnt document the immigrants?

Exactly. I’d bet OP voted to Leave Europe because they disliked pizza.

lunar1 · 19/01/2026 14:23

the utter ignorance of the bigger picture is exactly how these megalomaniacs become elected, even if he was removed from power this afternoon it would take the US decades to undo the damage caused.
