How many times do you use your towel before washing it?

Whatinthedoopla · 18/01/2026 23:11

I use a pajama once, then wash it. Does everyone do the same?

With towels, I use maybe twice or three times, But I'm not really sure if it shouldn't be this way?

Menopause.
That's why a lot of people, inc myself, change them every day.
And how come in Italy? Temps in the summer there are insane, surely Italians get hot and sweaty even if some use a bidet?

Edited

People don’t sleep in pyjamas in hot climates unless they have AC and then they are no longer sweaty.

Turtlebed · 19/01/2026 11:47

I dont have a set routine, but wash when they start to smell. (For sure longer than a week) And I've definitely gone a lot longer than 6 weeks not washing my bedding, but I am a bit gross.

WilderHawthorn · 19/01/2026 11:49

Bedding and towels all changed weekly, PJs do 2-3 days each.

we shower every other day on average

Catza · 19/01/2026 13:23

@Happyjoe: I presume your flat share means that you were young for those 10 years, no menopause, money to buy lots of clothing and too busy out working/having fun? I was probably the same in those years.

So, basically, you are saying that those who wash PJs and towels every day need to get a life? You may have cracked it!

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 19/01/2026 13:34

Towel when it starts to smell a little musty. Could be a week, could be two.

Don't wear PJs to bed, sheets get done about once every 10 days on average

I am menopausal but wear a breathable, short sleeve nightshirt/ t shirt nightie.

I wear a very loose fitting vest over PJ bottoms or shorts and have a fan pointing at me all night long. But some of us are drenched with hot flushes, some of us just get a little hot, people experience menopause different ways. I get drenched, about 7 times a night (wakes me up). And yes, am on HRT, it's even worse without it.

No way would I wear those night clothes again the next night.

Maybe, or standards just lower when young?!

Wingingit73 · 19/01/2026 17:11

Nightwear once. Towels 2-3 times.

Lulu1919 · 19/01/2026 17:15

I'll wear a night shirt three or four times before washing
I bathe before putting it on daily

Towels very few days ..it dries on a heated towel rail in between
Face flannel daily

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 19/01/2026 17:21

Bedding, PJs and towels all go in the same wash, once a week.

But I'm poor and live in dread of the electricity bill, so I try to economise. Also don't have a tumble drier so don't want wet washing hanging around all the time, putting it all on the heated airer at once is more economic than washing and drying a few things several times a week.

Fill it all up, it's cheaper!

We all have different standards.

Amberlynnswashcloth · 19/01/2026 18:18

We typically use towels twice before washing but sometimes I'll wash after one use if the bath/hair products are oily - I don't want to dry myself with musty, residue-y towels.

All the people reusing towels 7 times does your house not stink like a wet dog?

TheCryingTheBitchAndTheFloordrobe · 19/01/2026 18:21

I wash towels twice a week and pjs probably 2-3 times a week? Depends if I wear them out of the bedroom, then I always wash them.

narcASD · 19/01/2026 18:24

Towels once or twice a week, I don't wear PJ's, just knickers & vest which are clean on every night.

EBearhug · 19/01/2026 18:32

No, because towels are not dumped in a corner on the floor, but hung up, usually on a heated towel rail.

Not even remotely

Towels and PJs every day?!?! People must be doing nowt but washing!!

JaceLancs · 19/01/2026 20:44

Everyone sticks to their own towels - I probably use mine 3-4 times before washing, DP twice, DS 5-6 times

TeenToTwenties · 19/01/2026 20:46

I wash towels after looking at them. I can't believe people actually use towels that have been looked at, that's disgusting.

Scarlettpixie · 19/01/2026 20:47

Towels are washed weekly. PJs every 3 days or so. I wear knickers with them.

momager1 · 19/01/2026 20:51

towels... about two uses max, Husband sleeps in his boxers and I have alot of light cami type nighties that I change daily . However it is 30 degrees here most of the time. Same reason I change the sheets on our bed every 2-3 days. When we lived in a cooler climate.. husbands towel daily as he worked in a greasy hot enviroment. Mine maybe 2x a week.. sheets 1x a week.. my pj's maybe 3 wears before washing (with clean pants on under of course)

Exactly. I bet all of many of these people washing towels, pyjamas etc after every wear have a tumble drier (and can afford to run it daily) or live in a country where they can hang the washing outside daily.

yes I live in a hot country where I can hang out. we have no tumble dryer but an oversize washing machine. I wash the towels and sheets together, and alot of times I wait until there are 2 sets of sheets to wash (we have 6 sets)

maggiesleapp · 19/01/2026 20:59

DH uses a bath towel, washed weekly. He wears boxers in bed so daily obv.
I get into shower on waking, use a hand towel to dry off, I then use towel to dry around basin etc and strait into laundry basket. I blow dry my hair and put on a clean pair of PJS and usually have 1.5 - 2 hours before getting dressed to go to work. Love that me time in morning, DH leaves house at 6am for work I leave at 9ish.
Will wear morning PJs that night, tshirt only in bed then repeat next morning.
