How many times do you use your towel before washing it?

I use a pajama once, then wash it. Does everyone do the same?

With towels, I use maybe twice or three times, But I'm not really sure if it shouldn't be this way?

About 3 times for pyjama and towels

7 days for both pyjamas and towels

This.

Except I have stopped wearing PJs and just wear the t shirt that I wore during the day in bed. Cuts down on the washing.

Vaxtable · 19/01/2026 00:31

pJs after 3wears, towels every two weeks, so call me slovenly !

towels dry clean bodies, they are dried properly on rads,

Ladamesansmerci · 19/01/2026 00:43

PJs- I usually wear two sets in a week, so I guess I change them every 3-4 days.

Towels- every 7-10 days.

RawBloomers · 19/01/2026 00:49

Pjs change once a week or if I get them dirty.

Towels I change when I think about it, which is usually when they start to smell a bit off but could be because I spot a nicer one in the cupboard when I feel like indulging mysel.

mathanxiety · 19/01/2026 00:52

I use two towels a week and put them in with my weekly bedding hot wash.

ThatCalmFinch · 19/01/2026 00:15

Nope, more likely to be OCD.

Lol, I am so far removed from OCD.

And no, towels get a sort of coating on them, fresh towels are fab.
Just googled too, apparently 3-4 uses is it before they should be washed. Anyone who thinks their towels are still clean because used after having a wash is a little deluded.

ABananaADay · 19/01/2026 01:24

I could never cope with the amount of washing everyone else on this thread does! My timeframe for washing towels and bedding is measured in months, not days/ number of uses 🙈

vintedandminted · 19/01/2026 01:26

All clothes, pj's and towels get worn/used once then washed.

EBearhug · 19/01/2026 01:31

Don't usually wear pyjamas, but if I'm away or it's excessively cold, then when I next out a wash on.

Towels usually fortnightly, but I do have a separate towel for swimming. I have spare towels, but they're still going in the same wash.

FrazzledHippy · 19/01/2026 01:35

Depends when it's smelly! We're not precious about towels, me, DH and DD share them too! PJs are generally changed every 2 days

Ahhhblissful · 19/01/2026 01:46

lazyarse123 · 18/01/2026 23:40

Serious question. Why? Are you not clean after you've showered or bathed? What's happening to your towels that they need washing after you've used them?
Such a waste of resources.

Nothing wrong with my towels, i live alone just me.
I can't help it, its a habit i wont change it.

I was raised with a mother that would use the same towels for weeks no matter who used them.
No clean bedding pjs or towels.
As soon as I left home I made sure I was not living like that ever again.

I pay my bills so im going to use my washing machine and tumble dryer when I want.

I expect I’m going to get flamed, but I only wash my bath towels every 2-3 weeks or so. I hang them up to air dry after each use, which means they are used about 6- 9 times between washes. I chuck the hand towels in at the same time, although sometimes I swap the hand towels out sooner.

IMO if you dry them properly after each use (remember you are drying your clean body!) then I don’t see why it needs to be more? My bath towels never smell, and neither do I! 🤣

I wash my bedding every 4-6 weeks 😱🤣

For me, washing more frequently is both expensive, extra work, unnecessary and bad for the planet.

Ok....... Sorry but washing bedding every four to six weeks IS actually grossShock
dead skin cells and sweat......

Pjs weekly, bedding weekly, towels weekly.

Puffalicious · 19/01/2026 01:49

It's wild the variance on here! Every day or every month are both so alien to me.

I'm right in the middle, I suppose:

Bath towels weekly
Hand towels 2-3 days (but if guests come fresh one before they come and changed again when they leave).
PJs twice a week - but don't sleep in them, just for lounging.
Kids' PJs every 2nd night
Bedding every fortnight

I don't usually cast opinions on others, but I've got to agree.

Similarly, someone said kids' PJs every week!!!

Strongle · 19/01/2026 01:53

I grew up with my PJs being washed every week. Clean pants on for bed and those pants changed in the morning.

if kids are clean and getting into PJs and only sleeping in them with underwear, I don’t think a week would be that terrible.

clamshell24 · 19/01/2026 01:55

Weekly for pj (tops), when i think of it (fortnightly?) for towels

Beekman · 19/01/2026 02:15

We have our own sets of towels and they get washed weekly. As long as you hang them
to dry properly, they’re fine for a week. Bath mats and hand towels also get changed out weekly unless there is a problem.

I sleep naked so any PJs are used like loungewear and I wash them after every use. Kids used to have clean pyjamas or nightie every night but they’re in their 20s now, I have no idea what they do

ihatethewordhubby · 19/01/2026 02:52

I change my towels after every use. I also change towels if I accidentally look at it, brush past it or say the word towel.

Calling someone else gross when you’re wearing pyjamas for a week is a bit much

Many, MANY people have responded saying they wash pjs weekly. Together with responses saying daily, so obviously it varies.
And I didn't call the poster gross, but not washing bedding for 6 weeks??? THAT is gross, or if you prefer, unhygienic.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 19/01/2026 03:26

Clean nightdress every 2-3 days, clean towels every week.

Focusispower · 19/01/2026 03:32

Pyjamas I generally wear twice before washing. The kids might wear theirs three times but whilst they are bathed before bed, they are more likely to chuck their breakfast down them, and so could end up in the wash after a single wear.

Towels - a week/10 days. We all have our own ones. Bedding fortnightly.

Anything clearly dirty is washed in our house but we don’t wash for the sake of it or to an artificial schedule!

Mumofyellows · 19/01/2026 05:16

PJs clean each day
towel weekly
bedding weekly
