How many times do you use your towel before washing it?

I use a pajama once, then wash it. Does everyone do the same?

With towels, I use maybe twice or three times, But I'm not really sure if it shouldn't be this way?

Same as you.

bieabebe · 19/01/2026 07:59

I don’t believe any of the responses, especially in a country where people don’t use the bidet. In Italy we have showers every day and on top we wash our intimate areas every time after going to the toilet 😂 no chance people are washing their pjs every day !

Weekly for both PJs and towels.
You use a towel to dry clean body. If you have to change it daily, something's gone terribly wrong earlier in the process.

Exactly!

I don't understand the logic behind washing kids pj's more than adults. Kids tend to be less sweaty.

DD manages to either get toothpaste all down her pyjamas or food or in her rush to go for a wee doesn’t pull them down enough and dribbles wee on them.

I manage not to do those things. Granted as I age it will probably reverse.

ReturnToRiding · 19/01/2026 09:20

I have adhd and the idea that people keep track of how often to wash their towels or kids pjs on a set number of days just blows my mind.

Sahara123 · 19/01/2026 09:25

When I think of it. I don’t really have a system 🤣

Oh, I don't keep track. I just know that I do roughly one load of washing per week and a towel ends up being thrown in more often than not (mostly because I need to add to a half-empty load).

I sometimes leave towels a couple of weeks before washing, they feel no more dirty than they did on the first day.

They do me - and they don't dry as well. But I like my towels to be really rough as they dry me quicker, so I guess the difference is more apparent than soft fluffy ones.

Menopause.
That's why a lot of people, inc myself, change them every day.
And how come in Italy? Temps in the summer there are insane, surely Italians get hot and sweaty even if some use a bidet?

bathsmat · 19/01/2026 09:49

Where do people store all of their pyjamas?! Thank god my dc just wear pants

IWishIWasABaller · 19/01/2026 09:55

Myself and teen daughter fresh pjs every night . Men folk sleep in underpants . Towels are hung out on line after use and washed after 2 or maybe 3 uses . Bedding changed once a week

Tinatubby73 · 19/01/2026 10:05

2/3 times for both. Only wear pj's around the house for a couple of hours after work and not to bed

WanderlustMom · 19/01/2026 10:11

Towels probably around 3/4 times? PJs I’ll wear for a good week or so but I don’t sleep in them, only put them on for around the house after my shower so wear them for an hour or two

Stompythedinosaur · 19/01/2026 10:12

The real eye opener for me here if that people wear clean pjs every night!

I change towels once a week and PJ's a couple of times a week.

letshavetea · 19/01/2026 10:15

Clean nightie every day, clean towels 2/3 times a week, bedding changed weekly.

NicLSmith · 19/01/2026 10:29

Pjs every couple of days, towels weekly

Edited

I have lived in the UK for 20 years, shared flats with many people for a decade and I have never seen anyone changing pjs every day, let’s not even mention towels. In Italy we all have bidets daily and have always wondered how other nationalities can even think to go to the toilet and not washing afterwards. We do have frequent showers due to insanely high temperature in summer when we don’t wear PJs. I must say that majority of people have also air-con on at night which helps. I understand people in menopause, fair enough, but I don’t believe the majority of the responses. There’s not way the majority of people wash the PJs and towels so frequently.

cramptramp · 19/01/2026 10:32

All I do with towels is wrap them around me when I get out of the shower. I don’t actually ‘dry’ any part of my body with them, I just air dry. Therefore I get a lot of use before I wash them.

MagicStarrz · 19/01/2026 10:33

About three times but we have our own towels and I make sure they are left to dry fully. With pyjamas, I'm strict about putting them on before I get in bed and taking them off in the morning. I don't sit around the house, cook, clean, eat etc in them and I have a shower before bed.

Peonies12 · 19/01/2026 11:01

My god cannot believe people have clean PJs every day. I do at least 4 day. Towels every 1-2 weeks. The planet is dying!! It’s your own towel and clothes!

amusedbush · 19/01/2026 11:15

Pyjamas twice a week, though my "pyjamas" are just a baggy t-shirt and knickers (which are changed every morning!)

I have a hair towel and a body towel, which are washed after 3 or 4 uses.

Bedding is washed every Sunday morning.

I have a good friend in Rome, she doesn't have a bidet, so I guess not all Italians? She also has the same mattress since her teens, an old horse hair one, I have slept on it. She's nearly 50 now, lives with her mum to look after her. I think it's fair to say generalisation is exactly that and people have different levels of hygiene world over. What she does think is disgusting is carpets, but I point out to her that the UK is a lot colder and it helps keep a house warm. I do understand her reasoning though.

I presume your flat share means that you were young for those 10 years, no menopause, money to buy lots of clothing and too busy out working/having fun? I was probably the same in those years.

My mum changed sheets every week, the whole house (6 beds), every Monday, Sunday night was clean up bedroom night so she could clean, lol. And she washed towels twice a week, huge airing cupboard of towels on rotation. I just went on from her method.

ThatFairy · 19/01/2026 11:39

I use a towel maybe 3 times before washing it, but I'm not drying myself all over with it I wrap it on and sit on the sofa to air dry
