Browsing at my Instagram this evening and feel a need to have a rant lol.
Influencers talking about Sunday night "reset" in videos about simply planning for the week ahead. I mean mundane things like ironing school uniforms, tidying up the kitchen.. Just normal tasks that are familiar to most of us. Why call it a "reset"?

Similar is when an influencer is posting videos of themselves in new clothing items.. Lets say new shirt or jacket etc. They call it a "piece". As in I got this piece in x shop..
Why not just call the item whatever it actually is?

10/10
Hate it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

jay55 · 18/01/2026 21:33

As to why do I watch, sometimes I don’t scroll fast enough. Sometimes creators I’ve enjoyed get sucked in to the influencer cliches (I always wonder if they get management that encourages this tripe) some creators have fun to watch stuff and this shite and I don’t know which I’m getting until I watch.
And sometimes I find it fascinating to watch grown ups act in this weird artificial way.
I live in hope that the algorithm will one day sort itself out and show me what I want to see.

LetRip · 18/01/2026 21:34

I cannot stand the hand gestures, everything has to be said with obnoxious pointing and finger wiggling and chef kisses 🤌 and when they hold an item to the lens and wiggle it. I’ve noticed this with grocery shop hauls, every item has been shimmied to the camera, I saw one do this with cat litter

Jk987 · 18/01/2026 21:36

Why put inverted commas round the word influencers in the title? Like it or not, it’s a big source of income for many and therefore a real job.

Kindafreakingouthere · 18/01/2026 21:37

videos of people putting face creams/foundation on their face and they squeeze it directly on with it dripping all down their cheeks 😭😭😭
might be slightly a me problem because I hate any make up videos…the pulling faces whilst blending with a brush etc…all of it just sends me into a rage 😂

McChubble · 18/01/2026 21:38

I hate it when food influencers say “did you know if you mix 3 eggs…” and another influencer stitches it and says “what will happen if I mix 3 eggs?” in a silly voice and proceeds to make the recipe saying “I try viral recipes so you don’t have to”. Don’t know how to describe it but if you’ve seen them you’ll know what I’m on about!

Ghilliedu · 18/01/2026 21:39

‘When I tell you…’

so annoying!!

tubingmascara · 18/01/2026 21:41

I always think that is a PIECE….of shit.

CaffeineAndChords · 18/01/2026 21:43

It’s the tapping on everything they hold. Stoppppp

monicagellerbing · 18/01/2026 21:43

And they are ‘obsessed’ with everything.

BadgernTheGarden · 18/01/2026 21:43

'Let that sink in'

I understood you straight away, I'm not stupid, but I don't necessarily agree however you push it.

That hand movement they do, like imitating a sock puppet. 🤏 like this but with all four fingers meeting thumb.

Also, holding things up to the camera with the palm of the other hand as background when totally unnecessary.

Actually, all or each other’s affectations that they copy. And I only ever see them in recipe reels on Facebook! Don’t even have any other SM so am guessing they’re rife there if they’ve made it over to my ancient FB page.

YES!

WatchingWongFilms · 18/01/2026 19:23

I’m not sure if it’s an influencer thing because I don’t really watch them, but I’ve noticed a lot more people talking about how they “caught feelings” for someone, and I cannot bear it.

Omg that bullshit winds me up ..talk properly ffs

Thesummer · 18/01/2026 21:48

'in my X era'

That fucking hand/two hands under chin thing and wiggling the fingers with an idiotic smile on their face.

'Comment IMADICK in the comments below to receive my guide to being a dick'

Agree with colourways. Just say colour ffs.

exercisedout · 18/01/2026 21:49

I hate “love that for me”

also when they say “loads of you have been asking for my routine” when possibly one person asked, or no one asked but they wanted to do it.

Yesss! Unnecessary and ridiculous.

Also applying skincare using a pipette straight on the face, head tilted backwards. The pipette always, always, always touches the skin. Apply to hand then from hand to face people!

And just generally, why don't they behave like normal people?!

Language moves on across the years. It’s just the way it is.

No it doesn’t, ignorance becomes trendy

Holding space.

It’s many things but a ‘real job’ it ain’t!

Ah yes the reset. Fucking awful,

I see this on MN all the time. ‘We reset the kitchen before we go to bed’ 🙄

I’ve seen a few on instagram say they’ll be shopping more sustainably this year - so only buying 30 new dresses instead of 50… If they were really shopping sustainably they’d be in the charity shops.

You can’t affiliate charity shopping.
I do like the meal prepping but only the 3 day ones. But I don’t it, because I can’t arsed.
I also the AF written in the tiniest writing, which is only a shade or so darker than the background.
Sometimes a rage watch, but the algorithm doesn’t know that does it.
The cat videos are still cute though.

ThreeTescoBags · 18/01/2026 21:56

Use of the word 'worth' in relation to beauty boxes and advent calendars. E.g. The contents of this beauty box is worth £1000.

No, they are not, what you mean is, if you were able to buy each product separately, that might cost you £1000, but that doesn't necessarily mean the box is worth that.

It certainly isn't worth that amount to the retailer otherwise they'd be making a loss on each one and it's only worth that to you if you we're going to buy each of those things in those sizes (you normally get a couple of things that aren't on sale in the sizes made specially for the boxes).

It's a pedantic point but it irritates me.

Also, 'investment piece' or 'investing' in clothes. You're not making an investment, you're just justifying spending more money than you think is reasonable on the basis that you wont throw it in the bin after 1 wear.

TikTokker · 18/01/2026 21:56

We get told to be a bit annoying by our agencies so people are triggered to comment. Some people do stuff like put a pair of shoes in the fridge so when they open it to get the milk/eggs/whatever out people say ewwww why are there shoes in your fridge? Clsssic rage bait. Our top earner made £23k in December. Crazy. Sadly I’m nowhere near that level 😁
