I've recently been dating again after a bad experience and long break. I have known this person years and we have chatted quite often so the familiarity is there. 2 things: he has a very small package and the whole thing was just very awkward and it didn't really work. And after a random conversation it turns out that he doesn't wash his hands after going to the toilet (both a wee and poo). I'm really fussy with cleanliness and to me that is very basic hygiene.

AIBU to do a 180 turn on the whole thing? He is trying to make plans to see me this weekend as we speak. My friend says give it another meet up and see as sex is always very awkward at first but it's the hand washing thing aswell.

You are definitely not being unreasonable. The hygiene issue is a red flag. Sorry to hear the sex was disappointing too. As someone who reentered the dating pool a few years ago i absolutely get how nerve racking it is but usually if its so off track the first time im not sure i would want to try again personally.

Yes I could maybe work with small but chunky and clean hygienic hands but this one was 4" and quite skinny. It just didn't work especially in certain positions.

Thinking about it I had BV a few times when I was with a previous ex. And I didn't have the hand washing conversation with him, I wonder if he was another non hand washer! It will be the first thing I bring up and ask from now on, even if it makes me look a bit odd!

I don't know any man that washes his hands. Even the most fastidiously clean men when they have been in my home and been to the toilet...when I go in there after them the basin and the soap are dry.

These are men that are fastidious about hygiene in other ways. It used to shock me but I've not had one man who has routinely washed his hands.

Oh no op how disgusting boys are taught so early on to wash hands I think it’s women who don’t actually touch anything with using loo roll but I could not leave without washing my hands after each toilet visit. Especially after Covid. Just say what others have said you have found the hygiene a real turn off and it’s not something you can un know just say I’m happy to be friends but this is one I’m my pet hates it knocks me sick sorry.
