Am I having some kind of fever dream? Robert Jenrick

Am I having some kind of waking fever dream or was Robert Jenrick part of the Conservative governments he’s now busily accusing of failing Britain? It almost feels like gaslighting.

He is mental though TBF. Not sure ending borders and legalising heroin would be that good for the country at the moment.

Oh yeah, I agree. I won’t be voting for them. I disagree too fundamentally with their stance on some big issues. It was nice to hear someone who actually believes what he’s saying though, however nuts.

I’ll be voting Labour, mainly because it’s a straight up Labour v Reform clash in this constituency, and I’d vote for anyone if it keeps Reform out, even the Tories.

I can picture Farage outside Tory headquarters singing 'Any Old Iron'.

StarlightRobot · 15/01/2026 18:26

Will Luz Truss be next? Or is that too barrel scraping even for Reform?

TBF Nigel Farage is the one person in politics who has been consistent for 30 years. You may not like or agree with what he believes but at least he believes what he says.

I'm voting Conservative still I think. No one likes a snake. I think Kemi is OK. I just want Labour out. Not ideal scenario for voters though.

I'm surprised there haven't been more recall petitions.

Your MP defects - they should face a by-election.

100% agree.

Farage said that after the 7 May local elections there would be no more Tory defections, and Reform would reject more seeking to join.

A taste of Uturns to come.

Chalo · 15/01/2026 18:31

He says he’s got a Labour defection coming next week. Any guesses?

I'm no Tory voter, I'm politically homeless at the moment, but I really hope all these self-serving arseholes like Jenrick, Zahawi et al find their defection bites them in the arse down the line and they find themselves out of a job.

Reform are riding high just now but a lot can change in 3 1/2 years and I look forward to the "Oh fuck" moments of realisation that they abandoned ship only to find themselves on the Raft of the Medusa.

And how will they manage to argue they're different when they're completely made up of the people who failed the country for 14 years

that’s the intriguing bit!

I imagine by arguing that they were constrained by their sclerotic party, for Jenrick that's fairly convincing

People just hate Labour more.

Unjustified hate too.

It'll be an older Labour MP. Old school.

Livelovebehappy · 15/01/2026 18:39

Its all falling together. The May elections should be very interesting. Cant wait....

Jenrick has always been a bit of a prick. Remember when he ordered the removal of cartoons from the wall of an asylum centre for unaccompanied child migrants because he thought they made the place ‘too welcoming’. Yes, he really is that much of a knobber. This defection to Reform is entirely in keeping with who he is.

Yes, this will never be forgotten. He’s a perfect Reform candidate.

Pedallleur · 15/01/2026 18:41

AmberSpy · 15/01/2026 17:21

He and Zahawi are both pathetic imo – a couple of low calibre ex-ministers desperately trying to revive their careers by jumping ship, despite both having previously been extremely critical of Reform.

Opportunists looking for a safe space. Zahawi apparently going round for months after a peerage despite his financial misdeeds. Like attracts like.

Exactly! He’s basically moaning about the party he was part of. Traitor. Glad I don’t vote conservative anyway, and definitely never the racist Reform lot

He said 'Labour figure', not 'Labour MP' or 'Labour politician', so it might not be someone currently in parliament. A former MP? Or a celebrity who is known to be a Labour supporter, maybe?

Is Corbyn still labour?

Pedallleur · 15/01/2026 18:55

Zahawi is an example of a smart financial guy using every opportunity to line his pocket. Offshore dealings, expenses issues, careless with his accounting. Prob has a lawyer on retainer/speed dial. Now his new grifting pal Nigel has welcomed him into the club. Let's not forget the men only event that Zahawi attended.

Depends really.
Some May (Local) elections are being cancelled.
Something about reorganisation of local authority areas/mayors.

Bullshit.

No (Council) Taxation Without Representation...
