Am I having some kind of waking fever dream or was Robert Jenrick part of the Conservative governments he’s now busily accusing of failing Britain? It almost feels like gaslighting.

It’s fantastic news for the conservatives- all their worst MPs are moving to Reform. We now need more visibility from credible Conservative MPs and candidates. Go Kemi!

He and Zahawi are both pathetic imo – a couple of low calibre ex-ministers desperately trying to revive their careers by jumping ship, despite both having previously been extremely critical of Reform.

Nail on head.

‘Honest’ Bob is a self serving snake. Awful man.

Worse than that, he was found to have acted unlawfully over a planning application where £10 million of payments were avoided.

So Reform have accepted him alongside a man who tried to avoid paying more tax than Lester Pigott went to prison for.

Ah, those were the days when MP's had standards... cough cough!

Chalo · 15/01/2026 18:01

I dunno, Labour need the right to be fragmented between the Tories and Reform. Jenrick was much more open to a pact with Reform or some kind of other deal. Now he’s jumped ship, any of team-up seems off the agenda. So good for Labour.

Ugh Kemi B is awful. If she gets into serious power one day, we'll all need to buy the popcorn because she'll unravel faster than a dropped ball of wool..Ghastly woman.

More of Jenrick's back catalogue: overriding the local council to give planning permission to Conservative donor Richard Desmond... the day before the new community infrastructure levy came in.

So Desmond got to dodge shelling out about £40 million that would have been used to provide transport, schools, hospitals, sports facilities, etc for his new housing development.

Definitely the sort Reform want. Up the millionaires! Chin chin! Ordinary folk asking for decent quality housing and facilities... nah mate.

Robert Jenrick and Westferry planning row: What's really at stake?

What a row over a minister's planning decision and a Tory donor means for London's poorest borough.

Yes of course. He’s a phenomenal arsehole with ambition you can see from space. You can’t trust a single word that comes out of his mouth. Of course he’s joined Reform.

Maybe. They need to sort out their response to Polanski quickly though.

Happyjoe · 15/01/2026 18:04

Reform really are not picky are they? They even took on that 'cantgetajobanywhere' Jonathan Gullis. He's another total moron that should be far far away from politics.

X-post with you, @LlynTegid !

Jenrick clearly made a big impression on us both.

I think Labour being considered effective on the basis the conservatives were a shambles is a trick that will only work on the electorate once. With 13 u turns already, they won’t get another chance. Except maybe by the beneficiaries of the ballooning welfare bill.

I listened to an interview with Polanski and really liked him. Came across really well, authentic, like he actually believed what he was saying. It was refreshing. I didn’t agree with him on everything but I see his appeal, he’s very electable.

According to Wiki, Jenrick owns two very expensive homes but the rent on his constituency gaff is paid for by the taxpayer.

I dont know how ANYONE could contemplate voting TORY or REFORM. They are such a bunch of transparently self-serving mediocrities, you'd have to be devoid of every brain cell you ever had to put a cross against any one of their names. Yuckety yuck.

Unfortunately where I live Reform is what most people are going to vote. Neighbours around have mentioned it and the online local newspaper shows where the vote is heading...

He is mental though TBF. Not sure ending borders and legalising heroin would be that good for the country at the moment.

He is very likeable. Sincere. But I too fear some of his policies are a little naive.

I find myself in the very strange position , after being a very centrist Labour voter, of hoping this is true.
i agree the Conservatives have caused all these problems - but I’m finding the Labour response jarring.
