To believe there will be no justice fo Renee Good under the Trump administration

Nodramalama85 · 13/01/2026 18:23

Renee Good and the way the American government has responded. The broader shift toward more aggressive ICE operations and federal enforcement under the Trump administration is clearly influencing this response. Surely there should be more demand for accountability, transparency, and a government that protects all its people—not just those enforcing the law.

Am I being unreasonable to want justice for Reneee and to be concerned about the broader implications? Surely this sets a precedent for aggressive, potentinally leathal enforcement, even in communities not typically associated with immigration enforcement. Is America moving towards authoritarian practices? Under Trump is this a surprise?

There will be no justice. There will be talk for a while and then it will be brushed under the carpet.
And worse things will happen.

CatamaranViper · 13/01/2026 18:27

I always feel like the US completely aligns with the end justifies the means, if make a few mistakes along the way then it doesn't matter cos its all for the "greater good."

I doubt there will be any justice for Renee, and certainly no real accountability.

RichardTemplethatbeatingRythm · 13/01/2026 18:40

The ICE boot boys have carte Blanche to do as they wish.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 13/01/2026 18:42

There will be no justice for anyone under the current administration, including the administration themselves.

Nodramalama85 · 13/01/2026 18:42

Terrifying to think what they'll feel able to get with going forward.

He will not be the President forever. He has two years.

Will Trump be able to pardon every single ICE agent?

Another incremental step towards a police state....

I don't think many Americans care all that much TBH. Those who do are not numerous enough to change anything. Only a rising up and General Strike, together with a revolt by the Army to refuse orders for dodgy manoevres will achieve anything, and I can't see that happening anytime soon.

I wish people would listen to Senator Mark Kelly, look him up if you don't know him. He is married to Gabby Giffords who was shot in the head but made a reasonable recovery. I like him and what he has to say, he has been treated badly by the Trump Admin.

Dabralor · 13/01/2026 18:53

What terrifies me is the way the narrative has been so successfully manipulated on social media.
Within hours, this young mom was labelled a domestic terrorist, an abuser, a failed mother who had to give up her kids and all the other perjoratives that people throw at the ‘woke’. And people have swallowed it. There will be no justice for her because enough people now believe she was a threat who is best off dead and our attention has moved elsewhere. How chilling is that- she could be any one of us.
Its totally Orwellian.

Nodramalama85 · 13/01/2026 18:55

I appreciate anyone that challenges ICE. I think Trump surrounds himself with yes men to retain power and control, which is probably why Mark was treated so poorly.

And I predicted on one of the other threads that Stamer et al will just shut up about it and hope it goes away.

Well here we are. It's terrifying.

She has been killed because of her own foolish actions. She hit that officer with her car and showed total disregard for him. Its awful and it's sad but I don't think he should be punished for her actions that day.

I don’t think there will be any justice, not for Renee Good or the hundreds of people ICE “officers” (thugs, cowards, pigs, incels) have disappeared off the streets.
ICE have been referencing Renee Goods murder and asking civilians “haven’t you learned yet?” - they feel immune because they’re being told they’re immune and protected.

I hope and pray for this whole administration and its bullshit gestapo to be held to full account for their doings when the Nuremberg 2.0 trials take place one day.

PhuckTrump · 13/01/2026 19:13

Of course there will be no justice. They labelled her a Domestic Terrorist before her body was even cold. The FBI have taken over the investigation, prompted by the president. If the State of Minnesota had charged the ICE agent, the only person who could pardon him would be the Governor (VP candidate Tim Walz). Since it’s now a federal case, the person who can pardon him is (surprise surprise) Cheeto Don.

That’s actually irrelevant to OP’s point. In any sensible situation, politicians would not brand her a domestic terrorist within hours. He would not have been able to drive off. The vice president would not make the absurd and false claim that “That guy is protected by absolute immunity”. That is simply not true.
A sensible, rational, responsible government would refuse to comment, and ensure a proper investigation. If that investigation found that your version of events is correct, then fine. That would not be injustice.

Averynicelady · 13/01/2026 19:28

I don’t really understand why a country with such a highly developed, sophisticated legal system and certainly no shortage of lawyers doesn’t seem able to hold Renee’s killers to account.

Can Trump’s legal immunity really protect ICE agents against investigation for offences by individual states? Where are the checks and balances?

oscalo · 13/01/2026 19:34

Yes I wonder where we can find out what these checks and balances actually are, and how they are invoked.

Is it a case of the opposition (Dems mostly) being unable or unwilling to challenge this, or is there absolutely no point, because.... why?

Surely there is something in the Constitution that upholds the law and holds the Administration to account. Otherwise what is the point of it? When you think of the machinations of the Electoral College that is meant to ensure an even handedness despite the size/population of a particular State, one wonders what the heck is going on, or isn't as it seems.

Is it fear, is it inability, is it a waste of time, is it inertia, does anyone know FGS.

NoMoreTrees · 13/01/2026 19:38

Saw something on New York Times instagram earlier-

“Six federal prosecutors in Minnesota resigned on Tuesday over the Justice Department’s push to investigate the widow of Renee Good, the women killed by an ICE agent, and the department’s reluctance to investigate the shooter, according to people with knowledge of their decision.

Joseph Thompson, a career federal prosecutor, was among those who resigned. He objected to the investigation into Good’s wife, as well as to the Justice Department’s refusal to include state officials in investigating whether the shooting itself was lawful, the people familiar with his decision said.”

So, by the sounds of it… no.

Claims that she “hit the officer with her car” are misleading and used to excuse lethal force before any investigation has taken place. There is no conclusive evidence that she actually hit him. Her tone was calm and non-threatening. He swore at her, became agitated, and then shot her. Jumping to blame the victim like this others her and signals that law enforcement can act with impunity.

On the contrary, there is clear video evidence (from more than one bystander) that she steered away from him and deliberately didn't hit him - even though he was apparently so 'frightened' of her as a 'terrorist' that he deliberately jumped in front of her car.

She was either the most incompetent terrorist ever; or a courageous, decent, peace-loving citizen. The video evidence makes it very clear indeed which one she was.

Jonathan Ross, that particular ICE agent, has form for putting himself in front of moving vehicles and for trying to get into the windows/doors of moving vehicles. This is not his first time behaving this way. Was he trained by ICE to do this? Is it part of ICE protocol? Or is he consistently making poor decisions and putting himself unnecessarily in harm’s way (against ICE protocol)?

Congress declared that the Epstein files were to be released by 19 December. Three weeks ago. What happens when the FBI says no, under the order of the president? The FBI was supposed to be independent, but it no longer is. And the Supreme Court validated that the president can do whatever he wants in office without facing prosecution. So…what now? 🤷‍♀️
