I’m 26 with a 10 year old, but when I was 10 my mother was 50. Feels very strange, I remember being my son’s age and very aware my mother was way older than the other mothers.

My mum was 29, when I was 10. When my son was 10, I was 43.

Bloatstoat · 31/12/2025 18:53

I'm 44 with a 10 year old. My mum was 37.

ineedhelp37 · 31/12/2025 18:53

When my oldest was 10 I was 32, my mum was 42.

mindutopia · 31/12/2025 18:59

Another one of these. 🤣 We were roughly the same age.

I was 42 with a 10 year old and my mum would have been 40.

It’s funny, looking back I felt like she was a proper grown up with proper big girl responsibilities. I’m 45 now and still kinda feel like a 25 year old who isn’t really a fully fledged adult yet. Even though I’m a married professional woman with two children and multiple degrees and a mortgage who has lived in 3 countries and has lots of big girl responsibilities. 😂

Mummynextdoor · 31/12/2025 19:05

I’m 50, my mum was 39.

HumphreyCushionintheHouse · 31/12/2025 19:08

I was 52 when my DD was 10. When I was 10 my Mum was 46. I come from a long line of late in life mothers. It’s not for everyone, but it works for us.

PluckyChancer · 31/12/2025 19:08

My mum was 52 when I was 10 (I was the youngest) and I was 53 when DS was 10.

I preferred having an older mum as she was higher up in her career and a lot more relaxed about stuff compared to parents of friends. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Mama2many73 · 31/12/2025 19:09

I was 27 when my son was 10.
My mum would have been around 38 when I was 10.

Hopefully they won’t go on about having a young mum or they could expert back lash of easy/uneducated mum etc which is very common, and you will have no doubt already had the looks from other parents.

I was 52 when mine was ten. I’ve spoken with her about how it feels to have a mum older than many of her friends’ mums. She doesn’t see me as older as she doesn’t think I look older! I guess because I’m fit and active that helps! Also I’ve plenty of similarly aged friends with children her age. So it doesn’t seem that odd. When I was a child I had a friend whose mum wore the same kind of clothes as my nan and it was that which made me think she was old.

StayAliveJessicaHyde · 31/12/2025 19:34

North87 · 31/12/2025 19:38

Wiltshiremum1986 · 31/12/2025 19:41

Does it matter? You love your child. I assume your mum loved you. What does it matter how old you are? (I was in my 40s when I had a 10 yr old child).

Meadowfinch · 31/12/2025 19:44

It takes all sorts OP, live & let live.

My dm was 52 when I was 10. I was 55 when ds was 10. The world hasn't ended 🙂

capricorn12 · 31/12/2025 19:44

I'm 52 ( 10 year old is youngest of 3 her brothers are 18 and 23) my mum was 40. At my daughters school I would say I am the oldest mum but there are a few who are only a few years younger than me and I know quite a few women my age with similar age kids.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 31/12/2025 19:45
