NYE - PITA

Not a serious thread but is anyone else not doing anything for NYE.

AIBU to think that NYE is a PITA and staying in is the new going out.

I usually love it but tbh I want to be down early - might not even watch the hootenanny

I'm doing nothing. I've never been big into new year but I really cannot be bothered this year.

I never really do anything and am often in bed for the bells.

Staying up to watch Stranger Things tonight though.

Can’t be arsed with it.

I live in a city and it’s pretty impossible to get home after midnight and is just so overpopulated nowadays.

100pc agree and I am not going to stay up especially to see the NY in.
People can call me a killjoy but I am dealing with so much emotional pain that sleep is the only way to block it off

I enjoy seeing in the new year - the year has turned , light and warmth we hope will follow

I think the ritual celebrations do have some merit. Binds us together which is more important than people seem to realise in these self obsessed days

I’ll be joining you - earplugs will be in too, so I’m not disturbed by the fireworks.

I will be going to bed early. CBA. Will try to look ahead instead of back. Hope we all have a good 2026

It's only another day starting really, it's as big a deal as you make it.

Shudder. Hogmanay is my worst nightmare. We will go to the pub for a few tomorrow afternoon. That’s what the cool folk do 😂

I had my times of clubs, parties and shots champagne and now I’m content with the sofa and Jools! Then in the morning I’ll go on a nice long hike who even am I?

I’m not going out & haven’t for about 20 years. I can’t think of anything worse than strangers wanting to make some sort of contact in the way of saying ‘happy new year’ 🙄

We have never really celebrated NYE. , when I was a night staff nurse I used to request to work it to get out of doing one of the Christmas nights . I will be awake because I’m always awake at midnight . I also don’t like fireworks, they are boring after the first 2 minutes

I cant be bothered with it. Hogmanany used to be a huge thing in Scotland when I was little but now its quiet and over priced if you go out. I normally go to my bed and enjoy the 1st without a hangover.

Nah, YADNBU. We stay home, do our usual things, hear a couple of neighbours setting off fireworks, count down to midnight, and that's it. We stay up until midnight fairly often, these days, anyway (though lately I'm nodding off at 11), so it's not particularly special. NYE has never been that big of thing for us. It was more exciting as a kid when staying up late felt like a treat.

We’re not doing anything. Watch a film or two and likely be in bed well before 12 as usual, lol. CBA with Hogmanay these days, been there done that, happy chilling at home. I just hope there are minimal fireworks as one of my dogs is terrified by them. I hope you all have a good one whatever you are doing.
