This is my first post on here so can someone help me tell
my husband to wax his back. My daughter always says on holiday he is like a tree and it’s very embarrassing.
Should I be concerned how much hair is on his back.

You can ask him if he would consider it. You cannot tell him

ToKittyornottoKitty · 30/12/2025 18:31

Is the hair growth new? You should tell your daughter to stop being such a brat, horrible way to speak about her dad.

SixDozen · 30/12/2025 18:32

Is he embarrassed?

Slothey · 30/12/2025 18:32

How would you feel if he ‘told you’ to have a painful and unnecessary procedure?

YankSplaining · 30/12/2025 18:32

You don’t. He knows his back is hairy, presumably, and he doesn’t want to wax it. My husband has a hairy back too and I just accept that.

Arlanymor · 30/12/2025 18:33

It's his back - what harm is it doing anyone else? Unless he smells a lot because sweat gets trapped in the hair, then it's up to him if he embraces being a bear.

Try "Darling, would you have any objections to waxing your back?". Then see what he says.

So if your daughter was embarrassed by her own body hair would you encourage her to love her body, or to change it to please other people?

Gowlett · 30/12/2025 18:35

Mine doesn’t wax, but he’s self-conscious of it on holiday.
I usually give him a shoulder & back trim, does the trick…

Iocanepowder · 30/12/2025 18:36

I would go down the route of explaining to DD that people shouldn’t feel embarrassed about their bodies on holiday.

Jungleballsjungleballs · 30/12/2025 18:36

How do you tell him? - you don’t

how would you feel if he TOLD you to wax your pubes?

his hair his body his business - stay right out of it unless he brings it up and asks for your opinions.

Sunfloweranddaisy · 30/12/2025 18:36

Unless your partner has mentioned they are unhappy themselves with their hairy back you pull your child aside and explain that everyone is different including how much hair they have and that she is being very unkind.

JHound · 30/12/2025 18:36

You don’t.

His body hair is not your business.

PhilandKirst · 30/12/2025 18:37

This is a chance to teach your daughter about bodily autonomy, variation and respect.

hattie43 · 30/12/2025 18:37

Give him a back massage ….. using hair removal cream

Tigercrane · 30/12/2025 18:37

Not everyone will have the same view, nature made him lovely and hairy.

K0OLA1D · 30/12/2025 18:38

You don't op. Tell your daughter to stop being so awful and leave his back alone.

TheMorgenmuffel · 30/12/2025 18:39

You don't.

You tell your daughter that it is rude to act like that and ask her if she'd like a few comments on what she ought to be doing with her body.

GreywackeJ · 30/12/2025 18:39

I’d say, ‘ew, your back is hairy. Let me wax it’

Job done.

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 30/12/2025 18:39

Why the hell is your daughter embarrassed about her dad's back? It's normal and it can't have any impact on her. Telling her to stop being silly is a much better solution than telling him to do something pretty drastic for vanity's sake.

UncannyFanny · 30/12/2025 18:41

Perhaps yours will give you a head rub with Imac.

landslide51 · 30/12/2025 18:48

Why would you be concerned? it's not harming him or anyone else. Offer to trim it for him if he'd like and tell your dd she's being rude.

Daleksatemyshed · 30/12/2025 18:48

Yes, it's his body and he can be as he likes but hairy backs make me shudder, it's waxing or bust

TomatoSandwiches · 30/12/2025 18:50

If he doesn't care about it then everyone else needs to leave him alone, it's just hair fgs.

Tresd · 30/12/2025 18:51

Men have hairy backs - tell your dd this
