How many of you love your job

I am genuinely interested having been weighing up my options and going round in frustrating circles.
I would like to know how many people feel fulfilled by and enjoy their work and if you do, what work do you do?

I do kind of! I love my job, I work for a charity and I see the benefits of it every day. It’s been struggling recently (like most charities!) and as a result it’s not a great workplace anymore. But what I do is meaningful, my manager is great, the pay is reasonable and it works very flexibly with my family. So I think I do?

ChocolateMagnum · 29/12/2025 14:08

Me. I'm a university lecturer and I love it.

DarkEyedSailor · 29/12/2025 14:09

I love mine. I'm a school cook. It fits around my daughter's school, I love the work and the children are great.

I do! I'm a junior primary teacher. Retrained 3 years ago - graduated age 39. Before that I worked in PR for some very interesting organisations which was diverse, worthwhile and mentally stimulating. However, teaching feels much more of a 'calling' and I am so grateful for the connections I have with the kids in my class. I really do enjoy every day (whilst being also quite exhausted)!

Alexadidzammomarryjackie · 29/12/2025 14:12

I'm a SENCO. Love it, although it will be the death of me...

These are all so encouraging, thanks all. Sounds like lots of them have a very human / altruistic element

I love mine. I'm a senior youth mentor. No 2 days are the same, very rewarding, rarely boring & meet some lovely young people & my colleagues are just the best

Alsonification · 29/12/2025 14:17

I worked as a childminder for 25 Years and while I loved the children & enjoyed the work, the last 5 or so years were hard as I’m getting older.
i gave it up & started a new job in May of this year. I work for a local paper & absolutely love my job. The people I work with are amazing. Every single one of them (there’s about 25 of us), the job itself it’s brilliant. I’m on reception & do some sales. My immediate team leader is the nicest most obliging person ever & all my bosses are great.
the owner of the paper is the loveliest man & all he wants is his staff to be happy & content in their jobs & does what he can to do help that.

FlutteryButterfly · 29/12/2025 14:18

Me! I didn't but i do now. Im a full time sports coach. Work mainly with children but adults too. After 25years of unsociable hours I've now got weekday daytime shifts. It was the evening and weekend working that got me down not the work itself.

AttackCat · 29/12/2025 14:19

I do.

Charity public affairs - I get to stand up for a cause I believe in every day, do cool stuff like meeting government ministers and occasionally we succeed in getting them to do something that genuinely changes people’s lives.

People I work with are great, tonnes of flexibility, very inclusive and we are fortunate to be well funded so we’re not under the same financial stress as a lot of charities.

I’m genuinely happy to go to work every day.

Bubblesgun · 29/12/2025 14:19

I do. I own my company and I am an interior architect. Couldnt be happier even when it s difficult or when I do boring admin!!!!

AllTheChaos · 29/12/2025 14:21

I did 🙂 Specialist in-house lawyer (finance, City)

Downdowndownunder · 29/12/2025 14:22

I do but at the same time sometimes I don’t! I’m a public
health consultant in the NHS.

Ariela · 29/12/2025 14:23

I think it's as much the people I work with as the job itself - which is quite a step down from where I was before kids. We have fun, the work gets done, and it's just very nice and supportive. If anyone is away we all step in to help out.

fruitypancake · 29/12/2025 14:24

Love my job , university MH support/ counselling

AddictedToTea · 29/12/2025 14:26

I do! Secondary English teacher of almost 20 years. Love my school and colleagues. Only downside is the marking!

Dontlletmedownbruce · 29/12/2025 14:28

I'm a pre school educator (technically we can't say teacher). Love it. I work term hours only so no childcare costs for me and long Summer, Christmas and Easter holidays. There is so much joy in my job everyday, some stress too of course but predominantly joy. I work PT hours finishing by 2 and this helps keep energy up, it is physical and exhausting sometimes. I don't earn much and am somewhat financially dependent on DH, practically a crime on MN but it works for us as a team. I retrained in mid 30s and started my new career at 42. I never knew it was possible to enjoy work. I also never received Christmas presents and thanks like in this role. I feel so appreciated and respected by parents and luckily have great colleagues too.

GreywackeJ · 29/12/2025 14:30

I do. I’m a lecturer in building engineering and I do consultancy work too, mostly fire engineering and building safety.

I had a very high pressured and stressful job until relatively recently and I love how easy my new job is. Better pay too.

Alpacajigsaw · 29/12/2025 14:30

I do, I love my work. Lots of people around me are Planning for retirement and whilst I’m obviously mindful of my pension I don’t actually want to retire. The plan will be to cut down my hours rather than give up

The6thQueen · 29/12/2025 14:31

I do, I’m a secondary school teacher, head of department. I’ve always loved my job (been doing it since 2004), although it can be hard and stressful at times. I love the variety and I love working with teenagers, they can always put me in a good mood and make me laugh; they’re hilarious 😊
