All that matters is that YOU love it, OP.
I can imagine most people wouldn't like my engagement ring becuase it's not a classic engagement ring style whatsoever. I didn't want to be like most other women in terms of an engagement ring so just chose a style I liked (not expensive at all, but perfect and so me!)
I couldn't care less what other people think but then I think that comes with age.
Congrats ❤️

Oh they will.

Part of the cachet of a diamond was the tight control of the supply and the subsequently inflated price. De Beers have now lost control of the supply chain and the market is flooded with lab grown with a corresponding drop in prices.

I pay £1-2 a diamond from my supplier for those pave style chips and I'm only a small player in the jewellery making market. I can buy a 2ct lab grown diamond suitable for a solitaire for £300 or so. A good colour sapphire of the same size will be 3 or 4 times the price.

The large diamonds are now almost ubiquitous and I'm already seeing people moving on to other stones and styles.

I agree, I am not a fan of the chunky stome diamond ones, and when they are overly big I would generally assume they are fake. Which is also fine, but many do not look in any way classy.

My engagement ring is the only custom thing I own, and probably will ever own. I love knowing no one has a ring like it (unless the designer used my design again - hopefully not - as a designer would you use someone's design again?

I think smaller diamonds are nicer.

My first engagement ring was diamond chips, my second a large diamond solitaire. The love for both husbands had nothing to do with the quality of the ring
