Xmas day in PJs?

Ultravox · 24/12/2025 11:13

I read it on here quite a lot that people spend all of Xmas day in PJs. Each to their own and all that but I just can’t imagine it…I guess I could imagine it more if we got a takeaway for dinner but just can’t imagine cooking & eating a Xmas dinner in PJs! So am I in a minority? Is it normal?

Of course it's normal, but if it doesn't suit you then just get dressed.

professionalhomebody · 24/12/2025 11:23

I put fresh pjs on, usually a pair of new Chelsea peers as a little treat to myself. Not ones I’ve slept in

AuntiePushpa · 24/12/2025 11:25

Sounds cosy if they're fresh pj's. Slobbing around not having had a shower tho - I hope that's not what people mean

PumpkinSparkleFairy · 24/12/2025 11:27

Of course it’s not normal to wear pyjamas all day if you’re well 😂

MrsSkylerWhite · 24/12/2025 11:28

I have a new pair of chocolate brown velvet ones. Much smarter than my usual attire 😁

23doorsdown · 24/12/2025 11:28

It’s just clothes though isn’t it so getting up and dressed and changing into pjs or jeans is not that different.

Createausername1970 · 24/12/2025 11:36

You do you.

PJs are comfortable and I will probably be in a clean pair of bottoms and a baggy Christmas jumper.

We are out this evening seeing DH family and then hosting my family on Boxing day.

Turkey is in the oven right now, gammon came out a short while ago.

Tomorrow is a lie-in and a relaxing day with only veggies and other sides to sort out.

topcat2014 · 24/12/2025 11:40

Slovenly! Blazers, chinos and dresses minimum..(half joking)

AshesUnderUricon · 24/12/2025 11:47

I don't want to look at anyone's genitalia bulging through thin cotton, thanks.

23doorsdown · 24/12/2025 11:51

@AshesUnderUricon why are you spending your Christmas breaking into peoples houses to stare at their thinly veiled genitalia? You know Netflix is approx £6 for a month.

Eh?

It's not for me - I personally feel gross if I don't get up, wash, and dress in actual clothes - even when poorly. I wouldn't judge those who don't, though.

LlynTegid · 24/12/2025 11:54

Not unusual, though I would never do it. Even in 2020 when I was not going to church on Christmas morning.

Last time we went to a Christmas service, not religious but enjoy the singing, there were several little ones in fleecey, Christmas onesies.
Thought that was an excellent idea in a rather draughty church.

We have an annual pj competition with the 20 family members with us on Christmas Day. Each year we have a theme - all three generations take part from grandparents in their 80’s down to DT’s, their partners and cousins in their 20’s.
Strict guidelines and rules - and a huge amount of fun and laughter (until tears are running down your face!).
We aren’t cooking (cold buffet instead as no one likes the traditional Christmas meal). And yes we will all have showered when we get up.

Why would you feel gross having a shower and putting on new pj’s as oppose to putting on regular clothes?

JudgeBread · 24/12/2025 12:09

We do if we're spending the day at home, fresh jammies on first thing. Not sure why it's any different than cooking in normal clothes.

MouseCheese87 · 24/12/2025 12:09

I like to have a shower, get dressed and do my make up. I couldn't bear to sit around unwashed. I don't care if others want to do it but it just isn't for me. I do however put pj bottoms on once visitors have gone and I want to be comfy.

I daren’t mention how many $ I spent on this years pj’s but they are very gorgeous 😁

Why would you assume people in pyjamas haven’t washed? Bath then clean pair, here.

Clefable · 24/12/2025 12:12

Kids probably will be, I might be or at least the loungiest of loungewear which is basically pyjamas. DH doesn’t own pyjamas.

Because they're not day clothes.
