To have not lied to DS about trans actor in Last Christmas?

Watching above with DD17 (lesbian) and DS11 (straight) earlier today. One scene where a female presenting (long hair + fake eyelashes) but clearly biologically male actor plays a doctor (just Dr). DS says "that......lady sounds like a man".

I said yeah it is a man love. A man who identifies as a sex they are not.

DD paused then typed a wee bit more furiously than usual for 30 secs but then was ok. She knows tbf. She's lesbian and not pan.

It was so distilled down to me at the point of his very innocent (and tentative so as not to offend question) that I am not prepared to lie to my kid about the fucking fundamentals of life and tell them that person is a woman. Fuck that.

Merry Christmas 🍷

Also FUCK THAT FILM 😭😭😭😭😭

I’d have just said yes it’s a man dressed up as a woman and left it at that but I don’t understand what your lesbian dd has to do with anything?

🤣🤣🤣

Do tell me what’s so funny. You’re suggesting I’m lying? Why? I didn’t know about the actor until I read this thread.

You do realize that this only became an issue because people want to distract you from actual problems. Trans people have always existed. Their existence takes nothing away from yours. The whole propoganda is just a smoke screen.

I am at odds with your comment in so many ways. For starters, any response that starts with "you do realise" is bothersome because its so incredibly rude and patronising.
And also no the trans debate isnt a distraction from real problems - we are all aware of those issues as well. It isnt one or the other.

And also no trans people have not always existed.

And no again - because yes actually the existence of trans people does take away from the rest of us. In lots of ways.

I recommend you look up the word "obfuscation" because like many others who hold your perspective on this topic you are good at it.

MrsSkylerWhite · 24/12/2025 11:00

“And also no trans people have not always existed.”

How is this known?

TheKeatingFive · 24/12/2025 11:03

Gender non conforming people have always existed.

Deciding that gender non conforming people are 'really' the opposite sex in some way, or that 'gender identity' should trump sex when it comes to the classification of male/female is a very recent development.

God I hate that film. A whole film concocted to match a line from a song. I rolled my eyes so hard when the penny dropped that I saw my brain.

Oh my god! I feel so stupid now!! 🙈🙈

Because he was very clearly a man, so I find it funny when people say they couldn’t tell. There are a rare few who could ‘pass’ as women, although usually once they speak and you see more of them, it’s still obvious that they’re men. In this case, he is very obviously a man.

TheKeatingFive · 24/12/2025 11:09

I haven't watched it. I like both leads, so would be open to it, but the premise sounds dumb as rocks.

I’ve looked at photos on Google because of this thread. Passes for a woman, to me. I’ve seen more masculine looking female born actresses. Angelica Houston, Tilda Swinton, for example.

Because it doesn't matter. Why does it affect you how people identify? It doesn't affect trans people that you don't identify as trans.

Interesting......... so despite the fact that there is I think? a trans day, week, month of visibility and that we are endlessly being told by the "trans community" (which is in no way a community) that those of us who object to it are "destroying their lives" and lots of other hyperbole........you are arguing that actually the fact that most of us dont identify (or in anyway support the trans cult) doesnt affect a trans persons life. Also as I said in another comment - look up "obfuscation"

The trans cult (because it is a cult) massively affects all of our lives whether male or female in so many ways. It permeates almost every aspect of day to day life in the Western world atm. Have a read/watch of books/videos and you will soon know but Im guessing you'd rather not confront the facts - should you wish to........

It would have been fine, except you qualified it. Just say 'yes, dear, it's a man'.

See him in the film, see him move, his voice, his hands, him in comparison to women. He’s is obviously a man.

See him in other things where he has a bigger role. He is very obviously a man.

Didn’t notice? 😂

I didn’t notice either but I have only watched Last Christmas while wrapping presents so am often only listening.

I tried to watch the Ex-Mas one this year instead but God it was dreadful. I got as far as the cupcake-divorce and the gay Grandads who seemed to have no narrative reason other than being gay Grandads for cutesy reasons (how patronising) and I was out

Doesn’t he just sit behind a desk?
Anyway, it really didn’t leap out at me. Wouldn’t bother me if it had, though.

No, he stands at one point. Seeing him next to women really shows that he is a man. And his voice. Its not individual things even, It’s the whole presence/package (no pun intended). He looks like a man which is no surprise when he is a man

To you, fair enough. Can only say again, didn’t notice.

I’m more intrigued that you felt it appropriate to label your DS11 as straight. At 11?? How can he possibly know accurately yet?

It didn’t bother me either. It’s just a part in a film. But if my child has asked if he was a man, I’d have said yes.

It’s also important to have conversations about people who are identifying as trans due to the explosion in numbers and the consequences and impacts on wider society. This will be a talking point for many 11 year old in year 7. Both of my children had trans identifying people in their friendship groups from year 7. Talking to them so that they can get think through their views, helping them to balance those with other peoples etc, it’s something parents need to be ‘on’. If you have an autustic child, even more so as they are so vulnerable anyway, but especially to this ideology.

TeaAndCock · 24/12/2025 11:30

I’d have said yeah a biological male, who identifies as a woman, so a trans woman.

To anyone who doesn’t want to deny biology and isn’t scared of bringing called transphobic because they deal with scientific facts, not just feelings.

So what? Lots of things are new. Rights for wimen are new. Rights for gays are new. Being anti slavery is new. New doesn’t mean bad.
