To have not lied to DS about trans actor in Last Christmas?

Watching above with DD17 (lesbian) and DS11 (straight) earlier today. One scene where a female presenting (long hair + fake eyelashes) but clearly biologically male actor plays a doctor (just Dr). DS says "that......lady sounds like a man".

I said yeah it is a man love. A man who identifies as a sex they are not.

DD paused then typed a wee bit more furiously than usual for 30 secs but then was ok. She knows tbf. She's lesbian and not pan.

It was so distilled down to me at the point of his very innocent (and tentative so as not to offend question) that I am not prepared to lie to my kid about the fucking fundamentals of life and tell them that person is a woman. Fuck that.

Merry Christmas 🍷

Also FUCK THAT FILM 😭😭😭😭😭

"Why do you automatically jump to the conclusion that answering her child’s question accurately is ‘anti trans’?"

The bit OP said about shoehorning in a booming voiced man in woman cosplay gave a little bit of a hint...

Again, why is that anti trans? It’s a statement of fact.

You’re entitled to your views about trans people. But why ‘fuck that film’? That implies that trans people can’t exist at all. They shouldn’t even be on your television? I find that pretty offensive. You believe a trans woman is a man dressing up as a woman - fine. Why can’t she be on your television doing that?

Allow your child to form their own opinions as they get older rather than enforcing yours. A simple 'it's someone who was born a man but now lives as a woman' would have sufficed. You're not right just because you think you are and you risk alienating your children with your views. If you wish to share your views make sure you give the other side. Some people believe x but some believe y.

There’s no ‘believe’ in truth. Children are already indoctrinated in school to ‘believe’ that people can change sex, girls are told that they should accept boys in their toilets, changing rooms and sports otherwise they’re bigots and transphobic (probably by the same posters on here calling us the same). Honesty is important!

So are some females. But fwiw I experienced SA from actual men that weren't trans. I believe that if someone feels strongly that they are the wrong sex and goes through the horrendous surgery to achieve it they fully deserve to be called a woman. A man that just dresses like a woman is a drag artist. They've always been around.

I've been mulling this one over since you wrote it, because on the surface it sounds so reasonable.

I've come to the conclusion that they may well deserve to be called a woman because of what they have gone through, but that calling them a woman actually relegates every woman to a set of stereotype behaviours and a body that can be manufactured by a skilled surgeon.

We wouldn't believe the woman with breast implants who insisted her breasts were real because she had always felt that she was born with bigger breasts; we'd probably laugh at anyone with roots showing in bleached hair who insisted they felt they grew up as a blond; and we'd likely pity a woman who we knew was 60 who swore she was 40 because a face-lift and makeup makes her look 40, and so on.

We would be furious at any person, especially a man, who tried to tell women that being a woman was defined by how they dressed and behaved and that dress and bahaviour was on the female end of the gender spectrum, yet we are expected to accept that male to female trans people define being a woman exactly that way.

No amount of cosmetic alteration can actually make someone something that they are not. Silicon implants don't give you more breast tissue, hair dye doesn't make your hair grow blond at the scalp, a face-lift doesn't alter your date of birth.

Surgery can only make someone a facsimile of one particular version of womanhood. I feel enormous sympathy for anyone who has put themself through reassignment surgery but I'm really sorry, I can't bring myself to call them a woman without, as a fairly "unfeminine" woman, feeling diminished and misunderstood myself.

I'll sit back now and wait for the usual suspects to tell me that my feelings are ridiculous and do not matter compared to the feelings of a male to female trans person.

Can't agree with you there. Maybe a cross dresser, but a drag artist is something else altogether. A grotesque parody of "femininity".

Great actor. Was in the sitcom Boy meets girl.
They have quite a rich voice actually.
No idea why you are so proud of yourself.

No, she would probably have been a suffragette because she was focussing on something that mattered - you know, like votes for women

So the rights of female only change rooms for women and girls, rape survivors like me and DV survivors 'don't matter'? Is that what you're saying?

I suggest you google something called the Urinary Leash. You will see that the Suffragettes were involved in getting female toilets so that women could PARTICIPATE IN SOCIETY. How very little you actually know.

Do you not think women deserve privacy, dignity and respect in terms of single sex spaces? Or that girls and women should be allowed single sex sports? Or that awards designed specifically for females should remain single sex?

EchoedSilence · 24/12/2025 22:24

Votes for women, I would have been there chained to the railings. A Trans actor in a film, I couldn't give a fuck about.

Not transphobic to call a man a man.

Except the actor isn’t a man. They are a transwoman. And calling them a man is transphobic. I do hope this clarifies things for you.

YANBU. He is a man and you were right not to lie to your child. is your son year 6 or year 7? From year 7, he needs to be a bit clued up on trans ideology because it’ll be a topic of conversation in school.

From both of your children’s reactions, I’d be having a chat about trans ideology, how it’s a very separate thing to sexuality, that it’s a homophobic movement, the importance of biology, the harm this is doing to women, children, especially autistic people etc.

Transgender people are not homophobic utter bollocks. They are not a movement either. Justa group of people trying to live their lives. Weither you agree or not. Dont make up shit!

A man is an adult human male.
Transwomen are adult human males.
Transwomen are men. Lipstick and frocks dont change that. To call a transwoman a woman is misogynistic

You really have not done any research on this topic, that is more than clear. Trans Ideology is homophobic at it's very nucleus. It denies sex attraction and replaces it with gender 'identity' attraction. It calls lesbians who won't sleep with males with penises 'transphobic'. It shouldn't need to be said that lesbians don't do dick.

"And also no trans people have not always existed"

I don't know what "always" means but records show existence of trans people since at least 5,000 BC. So hardly a recent development

People who believe they can talk to the dead have always existed.

People who believe they have a spiritual connection to animals or to the elements have always existed.

People who believe they can perform certain rites and ensure a good harvest have always existed.

People who believe they can see the future have always existed.

People who believe they are "really" the opposite sex have always existed.

In some societies, at some times, every one of these beliefs has been accepted by the wider society as a true fact.

In other societies, at other times, every one of these beliefs has been seen as an individual delusion.

"Trans people have always existed" is no more significant than "astrology has always existed".

Fun fact - not one of the trans women who have "always existed" was ever stopped from voting because he was a woman.

No idea why you are so proud of yourself.

The social engineering sitcom that about 3 people watched? “Rebecca” is a misogynistic male who on an interview on Victoria Derbyshire with a female survivor (as I recall) who wanted a female only domestic violence shelter, said she was ignorant because excluding trans identified males was just like excluding “women who have had a hysterectomy”, and I don’t believe goes by they/them? Why aren’t you she/hering?
