To have not lied to DS about trans actor in Last Christmas?

DungOnATwig · 24/12/2025 01:10

Watching above with DD17 (lesbian) and DS11 (straight) earlier today. One scene where a female presenting (long hair + fake eyelashes) but clearly biologically male actor plays a doctor (just Dr). DS says "that......lady sounds like a man".

I said yeah it is a man love. A man who identifies as a sex they are not.

DD paused then typed a wee bit more furiously than usual for 30 secs but then was ok. She knows tbf. She's lesbian and not pan.

It was so distilled down to me at the point of his very innocent (and tentative so as not to offend question) that I am not prepared to lie to my kid about the fucking fundamentals of life and tell them that person is a woman. Fuck that.

Merry Christmas 🍷

Also FUCK THAT FILM 😭😭😭😭😭

Some of you are so naive, thinking that being a trans identifying male who demands acceptance as a woman is anything to do with surgery. They literally maintain that they are women, because inside their heads tells them they are - they are just a slightly different type of woman.

Here is a quote from today, on Reddit:

Women should not be made to use men's toilets just because they were born with a trans body. Cubicles are private, and are designed that no one has to view anyone else's genitals (with the exception of urinals in men's toilets).

People pretending that women who were born trans are somehow an invasion of privacy of women born cis are just dressing up their bigotry as something else.

You truthfully answered a question. Your DC were fine with your answer, so why do you need to ask if YABU @DungOnATwig ?Confused

He didn't ask a question.

GarlicBreadStan · 24/12/2025 02:22

Because it doesn't matter. Why does it affect you how people identify? It doesn't affect trans people that you don't identify as trans.

Ah, don't you know that this is the most significant issue affecting women, globally? More so than, say, FGM, reproductive rights, violence against women, rape, discrimination, gender based poverty? After all, how can women in Yemen achieve some (e)quality of life if we have trans people? Have you not been on the FWR board (or whatever it's now called)?

MyrtlethePurpleTurtle · 24/12/2025 14:01

Thedevilhasfinallycaughtupwithhim · 24/12/2025 07:38

It’s not.
“I wish I could do my make up that well”
“I wish I could walk in heels like that”
“You’re so beautiful”
“You’re more of a woman than I’ll ever be”
“All I noticed was how beautiful you are”

This kind of gushing sycophancy is reserved for men, exclusively.

Edited

No it's not - with the exception of the penultimate 'quote' (and possibly the super creepy never said final one), women say these things to women. Or maybe your circle doesn't include beautiful women who can wear killer heels and have skillfully applied makeup 🤷‍♀️

How can you measure any of those things, or address them, if you can't say what a woman is?

Some of the comments on this thread are harmful to the GC cause, because they are actually proving the TRAs' point. It's one thing to not want trans people in spaces designed for the opposite sex. It's quite another to complain about their very existence.

Well. Yes. Exactly.

Oh dear. Did you just say "opposite sex", with regard to trans people? They won't like that.

Sex is a wibbly wobbly spectrum, did you not realise?

As I say, I'm GC, I don't believe in gender woo but at the same time, I am not so bothered by the sight of a man dressed as a woman that I am bothered by seeing one dressed as a cardiologist. I think that trans people need their own spaces, so Isla Bryant and his ilk need not to be in the women's estate. However, some of the people on this thread are almost as extreme as the TRAs.

spirit20 · 24/12/2025 14:51

You don't know that was a transwomen. It could easily have been a man who identifies as a man but decides he likes having long hair and eyelashes.

Literal genocide. And you say you're not extreme!

It's been probably a whole day without a anti-trans post on this so I guess we got to put up some numbers. Some people have way to much time on their hands to care about other people's lives 🙄

Well this is as extreme as the TRAs, so really?

You do realize that this only became an issue because people want to distract you from actual problems. Trans people have always existed. Their existence takes nothing away from yours. The whole propoganda is just a smoke screen.

You do realise that when males are in female intimate safe single sex spaces, or in womanface, it affects us? People with Schizophrenia have always existed, too. It doesn't mean we have to laud it.

StealthMama · 24/12/2025 15:08

Sennelier1 · 24/12/2025 13:34

You are right to explain that actor started life as a male - I like to be honest as well - but the "being someone they are not" is offensive to trans people and their loved ones. That is nót explaining the facts to your 11 year old, it is interpreting them and thus imprinting on your son. I would've said something like " he felt being a woman and decided to transition". Then wait for your 11 year old to process this information and start asking more questions.

’he felt being a woman’

therefore woman is defined by a feeling? Sounds like a great lesson to teach an 11yr old boy.

TableRunners · 24/12/2025 15:08

A lot of the "Just #bekind and budge up for the mens, I'm not extreme like you" brigade out today, I see.

Not realising that, in TRAs' eyes, they are extreme like us. Because there can be no leeway, no acknowledging that men aren't women if men say they are.

NaiceBalonz · 24/12/2025 03:19

I can only assume nobody has said you were or weren't being unreasonable, but just wanted a chance to parrot your anti trans agenda on here.

Job done, so jog on darling.

Is that worse than parroting an anti women agenda on here, a feminist website?

I find Mumsnet users to be an intelligent and understanding group until we get to the trans debate. On this subject it's a hotbed of intolerance with its inflexible and hate-filled TERF mentality. I despair.

Or maybe you just haven't considered the issue and the impact on the female sex class below surface level? Since we are intelligent and upstanding, have not even bothered to consider that maybe we have a point on this, too? Or have you closed your mind to that possibility.

ThatBlackCat · 24/12/2025 15:16

AppropriateAdult · 24/12/2025 07:45

This sort of attitude always baffles me. There’s a bunch of people whose opinions you like and respect; then you find out they think differently to you on one specific subject. Why is your response “Oh no, they were terrible people all along!” rather than “Hmm, I wonder if there’s more to this topic than I realised?” This lack of curiosity and self-examination is not a good thing…

Exactly. It's indicative of a very shallow and closed mind.

ThatBlackCat · 24/12/2025 15:17

PegDope · 24/12/2025 07:52

How is it anti-trans to point out a biological fact?

Honestly it’s so boring now.

Yup. It's also anti environment and anti science to say water isn't wet.

ThatBlackCat · 24/12/2025 15:19

Thesofathatwas · 24/12/2025 07:59

Wow.
What a nasty, bitter, Pearl clutching fucking way to turn a compliment from one human being about another human being into something deeply murky.

You must be a joy to be around in person.
Fuck me, this is a cesspit of shite on this Christmas Eve.

It's a reflection and comment on the fact that so many women say that some transwomen are more woman than biological woman.

Yes, some are so gushing and fawning they do actually say this. Especially on social media.

ThatBlackCat · 24/12/2025 15:22

DallazMajor · 24/12/2025 08:09

I wish I could cherry pick the easy stuff and fuck the periods, period pains, hormonal issues, menopause, squeezing a human out of my vag, misogyny, pay gaps, fear of walking alone at night, fear of walking alone in an unfamiliar area, menopause, weight gain, sexism in the workplace etc etc etc

fuck it though. I have nice make up.

👏👏👏

’he felt being a woman’

Started life as a male and will finish life as a male, regardless of how or whether he modifies his body.

’Being someone they are not’ is offensive to women when it turns womanhood into a costume. If it is offensive for a white person to pretend to be black, and to expect to be treated as black by black people, why don’t you consider it offensive to women when a male person to pretends to be a woman, and to expects to be treated as a woman by actual women?

ThatBlackCat · 24/12/2025 15:26

StolenCookie · 24/12/2025 08:37

I’m pleasantly surprised by some of the responses on this thread. Mumsnet used to be an absolute cesspit of anti-trans sentiment but things seem to be changing.

'cesspit' of 'anTi tRaNs'

Unlike the cesspit of anti women you'd prefer it to be?

If you've actually taken any notice, you will see the GC feminist stance is growing far larger on this site (and in society in general). A few years ago, there'd only be a handful of pro-feminists on this thread. Trans Ideology is receding.

ThatBlackCat · 24/12/2025 15:29

GoodQueenWenceslaus · 24/12/2025 08:37

If you are in the UK, you know that simply is not true.

I take it you've never heard of Maya Forstater, Allison Bailey, Sandie Peggie? The UK police are a hotbed of anti women misogyny and actually call in women for questioning for even tweeting a perceived 'anti trans' tweet.
