Is there something wrong with me or is there anyone else who can't cope with Strictly

I can't cope with it.
I've watched this series.
I watch it every year with DC.
Just watched the final.
It's soooooo noisy. So incredibly loud. The non stop screaming when they get their scores. The jumping up and punching the air. The shouting. The schrieking. The cheering. The super loud music. The staged acting. The horrendous booming music when the judges do that thing where they dress up in silly props. Claudia's relentless shouting.
OMG.
I can't stand this format and I'm sure it didn't used to be like this years ago.
I'm sure I used to feel relaxed whilst watching.
Now when I watch it I feel stressed and spend the whole time turning the sound down.
Am I alone in this?
I'm point blank not watching it next year. 11 year old DD forces me to every year but I can't do it anymore. It's torture.

That bit where they all stand around in the background waiting for the couple who have just danced to get their scores. All gurning and fighting for the most attention, like some horrible mass stage school audition. Awful lot!

I loved it years ago too.

Trued watching it once - found it boring so never watched it again. To me, these types of Saturday eve shows (dancing, singing etc) had their day ages ago.

I saw somewhere online maybe here maybe facebook someone claiming to be in tears and very emotional because it was Tess and Claudia's last episode. I actually felt a bit sad that someone's weekends enjoyment depends so heavily on a TV show. But were all different I guess.

Ive never understood the hype. Its cheap fodder for TV. Its gone the same way XFactor and BGT went. Loud crass corny with some exaggerated emotional bullshit chucked in.

I don’t watch it because of the crying, the gushing, the insincerity and the same boring questions over and over again. I quite like the dancing but that’s overshadowed by the sickly sentimentality.

I hadn't watched it for about 12 years until this series, which I picked up about half way though. I totally agree with all the things you find objectionable about it, so the way I 'watch' is by putting it on close to the end of the live broadcast and rewinding iplayer back to the start, then forwarding through all the rehearsal, chat, judges' feedback etc elements. I pretty much just watch the dances. It's a 15 minute show for me!

I enjoy the actual dancing, it's also nice to hear a live band and singers, although that's often ruined by the moronic clapping along. So it's recorded here too and selectively watched, minus screaming and lots of judges' inanities.

Me neither. Not watched it for years, but I did try....
First problem was the dreadful studio audience clapping out of time 😬
Second big problem is the sentimentality, which they ladle on with a giant spoon.
Not to mention the "celebrities" I've never heard of!
I'd quite like to see people learn a new skill, but all the nonsense just puts me off and makes it unwatchable.

This is exactly why I can’t stand it. It’s just dancing, they all need to calm down!

It’s awful.
Even more so when they talk about it on the news. Literally no one cares!

Well, that’s patently not true, is it?

That's exactly what we do. It's much quicker and more enjoyable.

Around 6 million people care

@AlexaMachesca thank you for voicing my inner thoughts. Or should I say THANK YOU!!!

😅

I've tried to watch a few times - not so much this year - because I do love music and dancing basically. But I so agree that it's over the top and Claudia W. particularly gets on my tits. Maybe with new presenters it might be a bit better?

I assume it’s for the elderly or those with a lot of time. It goes on and on. My parents are obsessed with it and talk about the contestants like they know them. Maybe in retirement you have more headspace.

How bloody patronising and rude you are!
Being retired and having more headspace doesn't equate to being glued to mindless dross and celebrity gossip as we get older.
