Those prisoners starving themselves, what the hell is going on in this crazy world!!!!

Pro Palestine activists are on a hunger strike, I really hope you get the result you want, the people of Gaza remember you seven kids who died for…… oh for them! 😂

I watched an interesting interview months ago now a young guy who was born in Israel then his father ended up being one of the head chiefs ( killers) in Hamas he know lives back in Israel after escaping…. His wise words were…. ‘ you lot in the west have no idea what is going on, with your protests and flags, stop trying to get involved in something we can and won’t be able to change’
This comes from a person on both sides who stayed very humble but very blunt.

Stop your silly little hunger strike, go and enjoy time with your family and friends you are lucky enough to be able to do that.

Maybe they aren't doing it just for recognition from the people of Gaza,
Maybe they are on hunger strike as they just cant stomach that its now the new normal to sit back and watch Israel (killers) mercilessly murder innocent civilians and defenceless babies and children?.....
They are trying to make a difference however small.
Unfortunately every government has shown just how bloody spineless they really are and it will probably achieve nothing,

but YABU as I wouldn't be making snide jokes about it.

What difference exactly do you think they are going to make? Do you think any world leader who has any influence at all over what is happening in Gaza is going to take a blind bit of notice?

It's a brave action on their part and finally people are recognising what they are doing. There was very little media coverage at first.
'Silly little hunger strike', OP, really? They are young people in their twenties ready to give up their lives for something they believe in. What could be more seirous.

Daft people. The political prisoners during The Troubles had, at a minimum, legitimate personal ties to Northern Ireland. The current lot are just useful idiots.

Do you think the UK government isn't taking a 'blind bit of notice' of these hunger strikes? And if a bunch of them die and it's front page news all week?

They're not doing it with a view to end the conflict overnight, they're doing it to put political pressure on leaders.

Comedycook · 18/12/2025 20:30

At least the IRA lot had the grace to actually hunger strike to the bitter end and not fanny around demanding ambulances and having sixth formers milling around outside Long Kesh.

NinaGeiger · 18/12/2025 20:37

These are their demands:

  • De-proscription of ‘Palestine Action’ as a terrorist group and for the ban to be lifted
-David Lammy to meet with their legal representatives urgently -Defence firms which have links to Israel to be shut down -immediate bail for their prisoners -Right to a fair trial -Freedom of expression and opinion whilst they are in prison and end to censorship (including missing letters, books banned (including feminist literature), phone calls blocked and visits disrupted.

So they're not hunger striking because they think it's a nice thing to do for Gaza or they think it'll affect Israel's actions, it's partly in response to how they're being treated in prison and to try and affect UK politics related to Gaza

Sorry I don't know why the formatting in my previous post is horrible. The bullet points looked fine before I posted it

JoyintheMorning · 18/12/2025 20:42

Causing damage to aircraft is not the equivalent of a Bank-holiday walk to Aldermaston. They are terrorists. They should own their actions.

Staringintothevoid616 · 18/12/2025 20:42

They’re idiots, all useful idiots. They’re killing themselves to stop a group who think nothing of taking state defence assets out of action, groups that partake in anti semitic marches being called what they are, terrorists..

Dollymylove · 18/12/2025 20:43

They are a bunch of idiots. They broke into a military base and one of them seriously injured a police officer. Shame we are not in a wartime situation because breaking into a military Base would have got them shot.
Good for the government for not capituating to their demands.
I can just imagine Hamas sitting in their cozy billets laughing their heads off at them 🤣🤣

popcornandpotatoes · 18/12/2025 20:54

I think it's disingenuous and quite ignorant to act like protest does nothing and is a laughable act. Maybe in 100 years time kids will be learning the names of the people who were hunger striking for Gaza, like we learn the name of Emmeline Pankhurst and Emily Davison. There's a right and a wrong side of history to be on

Friendlyfart · 18/12/2025 20:55

Never has the phrase ‘useful idiot’ been so apt.

Ironic you didn’t say Bobby Sands or Michael Devine and instead said the names of people who very much did not die of a hunger strike

growingsideway · 18/12/2025 20:56

These hunger strikers are prisoners who have been remanded in custody and are protesting that. Nothing to do with Gaza.

Yes, my understanding is that they may be facing trial without jury? And that the hunger strikes were protesting this and their long detentions on remand.

Originally it was long remand (the delays in the justice system are well documented), now it’s also because of the changes to jury trials. But they’re not willing to die for the cause. So it’s performative

HoneyParsnipSoup · 18/12/2025 20:56

I wasn't thinking of death I was thinking of protest, and yes they were the first that came to mind, I don't think that's unusual? We learn about them in school, I didn't learn about Bobby Sands and Michael Devine in school. So not, not very ironic at all

Hoardasurass · 18/12/2025 21:14

Their on a rolling hunger strike meaning that they're only skipping food for a couple of days then they start eating and another 1 or 2 stop eating. Its not a real hunger strike unlike the IRA hunger strikers who started dieing after 40 days and I don't remember any of them making it past 44 days yet the PA terrorists are on day 47 with no deaths, which tells you all you need to know about the conversations of these idiots

Thats political though isn’t it. If you are Thatcher then Sands was a villain but if you go to Glasnevin I seem to recall there is a monument to the hunger strikers who died in that protest.

Nope they're facing the same consequences as every other terrorist and dont like it my answer to them is tough if you can't do the time don't do the crime

HonoriaBulstrode · 18/12/2025 21:20

On another thread, people hadn't even heard of Bobby Sands et al, so the chances of this lot being remembered for a hundred years are less than zero, I would say.
