Those prisoners starving themselves, what the hell is going on in this crazy world!!!!

Pro Palestine activists are on a hunger strike, I really hope you get the result you want, the people of Gaza remember you seven kids who died for…… oh for them! 😂

I watched an interesting interview months ago now a young guy who was born in Israel then his father ended up being one of the head chiefs ( killers) in Hamas he know lives back in Israel after escaping…. His wise words were…. ‘ you lot in the west have no idea what is going on, with your protests and flags, stop trying to get involved in something we can and won’t be able to change’
This comes from a person on both sides who stayed very humble but very blunt.

Stop your silly little hunger strike, go and enjoy time with your family and friends you are lucky enough to be able to do that.

It's not a rolling hunger strike by the way. One person was on hunger strike intermittently and has more ended his strike but the others haven't eaten solidly for many weeks.

From BBC:
Qesser Zuhrah and Amy Gardiner-Gibson are said to have each been refusing food for 45 days. Heba Muraisi began her protest a day later. Teuta Hoxha is said to have refused for 38 days and Kamran Ahmed 37 days.

An eighth prisoner is described by supporters as intermittently joining the protest but then breaking it because of an underlying health condition.

I'm really surprised by the sneering tone in so many of these comments. Standing up for what you believe in is admirable as it shows moral strength and grit, even if you personally don't believe in their cause. Without idealism and protest and activism and speaking truth to power, where would we be?

And people acting like having an ambulance or healthcare is a reward or a luxury rather than a fundamental and neutral necessity to stabilise a person whose body is under extreme strain and decline. This isn't just losing a few pounds, this is gradual organ failure, muscle wastage, neurological conditions, as the body starts cannibalising itself.

We should be worried that our politicians are so out of reach and disdainful of ordinary folk that they're refusing to even meet the hunger strikers' representatives. That isn't good for any citizen.

“This isn’t just hunger”

no. It’s a choice. Just like they made the choice to commit crimes.

Samuel Corner, who is awaiting trial for that charge, is not on hunger strike.

Edited

He's not awaiting trial, his trial is going on at the moment. He pleaded not guilty despite there being video footage of him bludgeoning the police officer while she was on the floor.

He said he was doing it to protect a friend.

If you've seen the video footage of them storming into the offices swinging around their sledge hammers and screaming at the security guard, they were fucking deranged.

A white van with yellow and orange hi-vis decals at night. There is a lot of smoke in the air and on the right there is a figure wearing all black and a white hard hat.

Activist's hammer attack was to 'protect friend', court told

The Oxford University graduate is accused of causing grievous bodily harm during a break-in.

Hilarious when someone jumps on to comment without first reading up on the facts. They aren’t doing the hunger strike to help the people of Gaza. You’re just making yourself look silly.

DangleDonkey · 18/12/2025 23:12

They also haven't been to trial yet, and should be considered innocent until proven guilty. Being in prison for 20 months before trial as some will be is not justice, and should be protested.

I guess you could have said killers full stop. But you only address Israel’s atrocities- what about Hamas? strange world we live in where people are rushing around defending people who literally went and beheaded, raped and murdered in gruesome ways a bunch of people. Why is this just ignored like ohhh well it was less people so…who gives a shit? Is that it? Why are we pro any country at all? instead of being anti any disgusting actions full stop? That is the bloody stupidity of this hunger strike shit..

and no, me not being pro Palestine doesn’t make me think Israel is right - they’re committing war crime. And doesn’t make me not give a shit about Palestinians.I give a shit about every decent person who is stuck in any conflict anywhere in the world.

Im not “ignoring Hamas”. Hamas are a terrorist organisation and what they did was horrific and indefensible.
But acknowledging that does not mean we stop talking about what Israel and the IDF are doing now. Hamas are terrorists, Israel is a state with one of the most powerful armies in the world and therefore held to international law.

Condemning Hamas does not give Israel a free pass to punish civilians, flatten neighbourhoods, and make Gaza uninhabitable. Yes Hamas committed atrocities but he Israeli government and IDF are now committing war crimes.
Being pro-Palestinian is not being pro-Hamas. It’s being pro-civilians, mainly children not being bombed, murdered and displaced.

We have all see the videos of how much joy it brings the IDF to murder Palestinian children for fun so dont give me that, 'oh what about Hamas' argument its irrelevant.
As of September the death toll for children alone is at about 19,423.....so tell me again how Hamas are in any way comparable to the IDF?

It’s called being remanded in custody. Happens all the time. It’s not unusual in any way

https://nitter.net/johnmcdonnellMP/status/1999530229023359405#m. Hopefully this works. It's a link to John McDonnell highlighting one of the meal skippers. I don't think the public is supporting the protest as much as the hunger strikers thought they would. Also, apparently one of the Palestinian Action people was granted bail. He then skipped bail. I'm not surprised the rest are being kept under lock and key.

@SheThinksShesAllThat You’re going to die if you don’t eat.

Unlikely.

The overwhelming majority of people overestimate how much food humans actually need to eat, and it's surprisingly easy to go for long periods of time without eating anything.

10 IRA prisoners died on hunger strike in 1981. If it was that easy to live on fresh air they wouldn’t have died.

No they aren’t @wineosaurusrex. Go and read their demands. Most of them are about the DREADFUL injustice of them being remanded in custody, phone calls, visiting rights etc. Their protest is doing fuck all to influence anybody.

It is the protestors themselves and those that are encouraging them who bear responsibility for the outcome here, nobody else.

It’s what happens to terrorists and terrorist sympathisers. Anyone destroying defense assets is an enemy of the state and as are the people who support them. In most cultures and times they would have been executed. Go uk Gaza and destroy some of Hamas assets and see how that goes down.,

I accept it's normal but it shouldn't be. 20 months of your life in prison and that will happen to people who are eventually found not guilty. Justice delayed is justice denied, as the saying goes.

The system is stretched and not fit for purpose currently. But what do you suggest? That they’re allowed to roam free until their trial? Along with all other prisoners held on remand?

SoulSearchBeHonest · 18/12/2025 23:17

HonoriaBulstrode · 18/12/2025 19:59

They are trying to make a difference however small.

What difference exactly do you think they are going to make? Do you think any world leader who has any influence at all over what is happening in Gaza is going to take a blind bit of notice?

Trump can influence things and he's unlikely to listen to a bunch of twits on hunger strike.

It's very telling how mean spirited the reaction to the hunger strikers is from several pp.

I agree with you. Luckily I manage to avoid such vile unempathetic people in real life. I need to go back to reading posts from people who are stressing about Christmas dinner to restore my faith in humanity!

Do you know what remanded in custody while awaiting trial means?

Incidentally, one of the hunger striker's relatives made a speech today praising their actions which led to them being in prison, which would be an odd thing to do if they hadn't actually done them.

"Just a reminder that she is charged with aggravated burglary, criminal damage, and violent disorder, that resulted in 2 police officers being injured, 1 seriously. Equally one of her co-defendants absconded. We are all safer with her behind bars, she should face justice & you should tell her to eat something".

Not sure those type of actions garner much sympathy with people 🤔

You see to have a fantastical imagination- the suffragettes were fighting for equality of women. These useful idiots are crying because a group which has destroyed British national defence assets, broken into military sites and support terrorist activity with a prime focus of antisemitism have been rightly called terrorists..

The fact you can’t tell the difference shows. The exact issue of useful idiots being used to fan the flames of anti semitism resulting in things like the Bondi terrorist attract.

Sorry but you are very naive, UK political leaders don't give a shit about a few extreme people on hunger strike. Even if they did what exactly could they do to influence Israeli, put them on the naughty step, stop importing oranges?

Chinese students stood in front of tanks and were run down in 1989 every politician said it was horrible, but I bet the device your typing on was made in China, along with 75% of the things in your home

I didn't say they gave a shit about the hunger strikers, did I? I said that the aim of the strike is to put pressure on them.

Even if they did what exactly could they do to influence Israeli, put them on the naughty step, stop importing oranges?

Their key demand is for the ban on Palestine Action to be lifted, not to sanction Israel.

So nobody should ever protest anything because China makes smartphones.

I’m not defending him in any way. I simply stated the fact that he isn’t on hunger strike.

Palestine Action - who is their leader? Where is their head office? How can we send them hate mail? The likelihood is that there are numerous groups, including Jews Against Genocide, who are being held responsible for the violent actions of a very small group of people in one incident.

I don’t think putting paint on a plane is terrorism. Criminal damage, a public order offence, yes, but a plane is an inanimate object and can’t be terrified.

Hitting a police officer twice, and breaking her back, whilst she is laid on the floor is 'helping a friend '. Wow. Well at least its recorded for all to see.

It’s possible to oppose genocide and not be anti-Semitic. There have been huge protests against the bombing of Gaza in Tel Aviv, by Israeli Jews who don’t want their adult children to be conscripted into the IDF.

All of that has happened to my dearly loved niece in the grips of anorexia. She not doing it for attention or to blackmail society, she’s genuinely ill and at risk of organ failure but she can’t get an ambulance or attention for love nor money.

The protestors’ fate is in their own hands and their own responsibility.
