Those prisoners starving themselves, what the hell is going on in this crazy world!!!!

Pro Palestine activists are on a hunger strike, I really hope you get the result you want, the people of Gaza remember you seven kids who died for…… oh for them! 😂

I watched an interesting interview months ago now a young guy who was born in Israel then his father ended up being one of the head chiefs ( killers) in Hamas he know lives back in Israel after escaping…. His wise words were…. ‘ you lot in the west have no idea what is going on, with your protests and flags, stop trying to get involved in something we can and won’t be able to change’
This comes from a person on both sides who stayed very humble but very blunt.

Stop your silly little hunger strike, go and enjoy time with your family and friends you are lucky enough to be able to do that.

They should totally be allowed to carry on their pathetic little diet, but without any burden placed on the NHS. Leave them to get on with it.

They have been remanded in custody ahead of their trial. That’s totally normal.

The justice system is in a shambles. Has been for quite some time. It’s usual for offenders to be on remand for a long time before they face trial. These people broke into military bases and damaged military equipment. They didn’t know if that equipment was going to be used in Israel, Ukraine or elsewhere.

They fucked around. They found out.

Please provide credible evidence for this.

As for Israeli atrocities: https://news.un.org/en/story/2025/06/1164496

Are you asking for evidence of what Hamas did on October 7th?

growingsideway · 18/12/2025 22:54

Nobody’s saying what’s happening in gaza is funny.

But these people are not on a hunger strike because of that. They’re on a hunger strike because they’ve been remanded in custody awaiting trial for their crimes and they’re not happy about it.

Oh they definitely wouldn't have done any striking or action in support of the hostages Hamas were starving in Gaza! That's a given.

BusyBat · 18/12/2025 22:58

Staringintothevoid616 · 18/12/2025 22:54

Yep, they’ll be reading their names wondering how they could have been so stupid. Their names will be synonymous with the idea of how easy it is for terrorist groups to manipulate people by convincing them they’re the good guys. It will be like how we learn of those experiments of how people were convinced to become guards in the concentration camps or otherwise follow the Nazis orders

When you go to vote, do you think about how stupid the Suffragettes were? I don’t.

And for breaking a police officer’s back of course, you left that part out.

Samuel Corner, who is awaiting trial for that charge, is not on hunger strike.

I totally agree. I have no time for these attention seeking fools. If they want to starve themselves let them get on with it. Good lord.

I’m not sure why you’re implying the hunger strike has anything to do with Gaza at all. It doesn’t. These young people are doing it because they don’t like that they’ve been remanded in custody.

No, they’re not.

They’ve gone on hunger strike because they don’t like that they’ve been remanded in custody after committing very serious crimes.

shuggles · 18/12/2025 23:05

@SheThinksShesAllThat You’re going to die if you don’t eat.

Unlikely.

The overwhelming majority of people overestimate how much food humans actually need to eat, and it's surprisingly easy to go for long periods of time without eating anything.

HonoriaBulstrode · 18/12/2025 21:20

On another thread, people hadn't even heard of Bobby Sands et al, so the chances of this lot being remembered for a hundred years are less than zero, I would say.

I remember the IRA hunger strikers dying. It was headline news every evening.

BlakeCarrington · 18/12/2025 23:06

No they aren’t @wineosaurusrex. Go and read their demands. Most of them are about the DREADFUL injustice of them being remanded in custody, phone calls, visiting rights etc. Their protest is doing fuck all to influence anybody.

It is the protestors themselves and those that are encouraging them who bear responsibility for the outcome here, nobody else.

I think we agree. The starving people being talked about were the ones Hamas were detaining. Bit inconvenient to the PA narrative though!

Thats political though isn’t it. If you are Thatcher then Sands was a villain but if you go to Glasnevin I seem to recall there is a monument to the hunger strikers who died in that protest.

Yes Sands would be regarded as a heroic figure to an Irish person. I don't know much about it and it was before my time but it is very much still referred to as a pivotal moment and to many his death was not in vain

These hunger strikers don’t deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as the Suffragettes. They are actually delusional enough to think that most of us will care whether they refuse food or not, when most of us couldn’t give a toss. Just crack on with it I say, but I’ll bet that the novelty will wear off very soon, and they’ll be tucking into their prison food before the end of next week…..

OpheliaIsntMad · 18/12/2025 23:09

If the government give in to their demands then the numbers of prisoners hunger striking would probably increase…
This is obviously a tactic to put pressure on the government but as a precedent it’s dangerous for the government to give in ( also a terrible situation if there are deaths )
Its a no- win

This

What a load of absolute twaddle. The fact people believe shit like this just goes to prove the terrorist supporters are either completely stupid or not bothered by the truth,, These idiots damaged uk defence property estimates to be in the region of £30mill. Interestingly these people don’t seem to be bothered about any other “poor babies” it’s only a useful rhetoric when they can stir up antisemitism, the thing is most of them are too stupid, too desperate to be liked they’ll follow all manner of illogical clap trap!

growingsideway · 18/12/2025 23:07

Yeah, I think there'll be a lot of people like that. It doesn't do the pro Palestinian cause any good to be associated with people who are a threat to security and attack equipment intended for Ukraine, and sensible Palestinian supporters get this.

DangleDonkey · 18/12/2025 23:09

It's not a rolling hunger strike by the way. One person was on hunger strike intermittently and has more ended his strike but the others haven't eaten solidly for many weeks.

From BBC:
Qesser Zuhrah and Amy Gardiner-Gibson are said to have each been refusing food for 45 days. Heba Muraisi began her protest a day later. Teuta Hoxha is said to have refused for 38 days and Kamran Ahmed 37 days.

An eighth prisoner is described by supporters as intermittently joining the protest but then breaking it because of an underlying health condition.

**
I'm really surprised by the sneering tone in so many of these comments. Standing up for what you believe in is admirable as it shows moral strength and grit, even if you personally don't believe in their cause. Without idealism and protest and activism and speaking truth to power, where would we be?

And people acting like having an ambulance or healthcare is a reward or a luxury rather than a fundamental and neutral necessity to stabilise a person whose body is under extreme strain and decline. This isn't just losing a few pounds, this is gradual organ failure, muscle wastage, neurological conditions, as the body starts cannibalising itself.

We should be worried that our politicians are so out of reach and disdainful of ordinary folk that they're refusing to even meet the hunger strikers' representatives. That isn't good for any citizen.
