To ask what you think to head teacher saying this

I work in a school, as a TA. And over heard a child saying to the head teacher that they’d forgotten her name. And she said to him ‘’but I’m not the most important person here’’ not in a jokey way either. Then she looked over at me in a way like she was looking down at me.

Non issue. What did you think?

BishyBarnyBee · 18/12/2025 11:25

How could you possibly interpret that as her looking down on you? Surely that's about your own feelings of not being important rather than anything about how she perceives you?

TAs are crucial in schools, do you not feel appreciated? Though at this stage of term, no-one working in schools, whatever their role, will feel at all appreciated, you are all on your knees!

OP, you are important and you make so much difference in children's lives, thanks you for all you do.

TheCountessAtChristmas · 18/12/2025 11:25

Im unsure what you mean.
Child said to head teacher "ive forgotten your name"
Headteacher said in response "im not the most important person here"

Fair enough HT feels there are other people in school community more important to know... I dont get what your saying?

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 18/12/2025 11:25

I think nothing.

SleepingStandingUp · 18/12/2025 11:25

she said she not the most important person or am I not the most important person?

NotForTheMoneyandNotForTheApplause · 18/12/2025 11:29

I think you haven't explained it well enough, who said what?

topcat2014 · 18/12/2025 11:31

Head teacher is Sir or Madam, simples

Purplecatshopaholic · 18/12/2025 11:32

Need more info op. At the moment there’s ’nothing to see here’, and I don’t see how what was said means anyone is looking down on anyone (other than your own perception). Any further details?

Nannyfannybanny · 18/12/2025 11:32

Presumably the pupils are the most important ones in the school

Milkbloo · 18/12/2025 11:33

I think you are being fairly inarticulate, which is probably the most important thing, here.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 18/12/2025 11:38

Slightly odd of the HT to just say that, it doesn't answer the question! Unless they said 'I'm Miss Smith, but it's ok, I'm not the most important person here' meaning the children are the most important.

Were you even involved in the conversation at all? I can't see how it's about you in any way.

Damnd · 18/12/2025 11:40

I would take it as sarcasm and was looking at you to laugh

Purlant · 18/12/2025 11:40

The headteacher is saying that the pupil is the most important person there.

arethereanyleftatall · 18/12/2025 11:40

within the nothingness, you also haven’t detailed who is the he and who is the she.

Tillow4ever · 18/12/2025 11:44

Unless you’ve made a typo I’d have thought they were saying they aren’t the most important person and then looking at you as if to signify that you are? Because for a child, their teacher or the TA will be the most important person.

Chemenger · 18/12/2025 11:45

Tillow4ever · 18/12/2025 11:44

Exactly this. The head teacher was saying you are more important than her.

StaySpicy · 18/12/2025 11:50

So, the headteacher effectively said there are more important people in school than them, suggesting it's fine the pupil didn't know their name, and you've somehow attached an insult directed at you to this?

Do you usually find insults in random comments or are you going to drip feed something to us now?

u3ername · 18/12/2025 11:50

Pretty sure it’s a typo.

It’s one instance, one example… No one can say exactly, but if you often feel like she’s looking down on you and others, I’m guessing you’re right.

arcticpandas · 18/12/2025 11:51

Chemenger · 18/12/2025 11:45

Exactly this. The head teacher was saying you are more important than her.

That would be my thoughts too.

Applespearsandpeaches · 18/12/2025 11:52

It sounds like a complete non issue unless there’s an enormous backstory. There is no need to overanalyse every tiny look or word someone says scrutinising for offence.

IceIceSlippyIce · 18/12/2025 11:54

Agree with those saying she looked at you as an example of an important person in the school.

ColdAsAWitches · 18/12/2025 11:54

Absolute batshit. There is no way to interpret that comment as looking down at you.

Purpleharlow · 18/12/2025 11:55

Eh?

AmIthatSpringy · 18/12/2025 11:57

no idea what your issue is, to be honest

TootsMaHoots · 18/12/2025 11:57
Confused

You have made a whole lot of nothing out of something there.
