Avoidable professional

Im mid thirties and more or less single after a LTR through my twenties. Im childfree and happy to stay childfree.

Im happy and content in my singleness - truly- I have a nice life, good friends, amazing siblings, brilliant nieces, à career that has its ups and downs but that is rewarding. I am economically stable.

So here is the question - without justification - one evening many yonks ago - my elder sister made me promise to never date people from a certain profession. She didn't want to elaborate but just said "Don't".
My best friend of many years (Male) recently said as long as you don't choose à "same profession" you'll be happy. He didn't want to elaborate either.

Sister is an academic, best friend is a surgeon, I'm a lawyer.

AIBU to ask you to guess thé profession?

I ask because I am being quite nicely flirted with be a man who is "profession" ... He's a relative stranger - we met in real life but no mutual acquaintances.

Police officer and surgeon are the ones that always come up on threads like this. Police officer cause apparently they’re always shagging. Surgeons cause (understandable) god complex.

I was thinking police or surgeon purely due to hours.

I always ended up with musicians... Never again!

I don't think it is a related to a specific 'profession' but my advice would be to not get involved in any adult who believes in Father Christmas.

Presumably similar reasons.

Mainly, because the politicians who have a conscious and are decent people, aren't very good at being politicians and the politicians who are good at being politicians aren't very nice people.

This is making me laugh and relieved I am married. As a full-time nhs consultant, I have just realised I am undateable ;-)

Police or Army. So much misogyny and abuse. Not all of them, I know 1 man who was in the Navy and is lovely but for that 1 I know 5 that were abusive men.

Surgeon is usually the answer...but my brother is one and he's lovely 😊 (and single...!)

Well, regardless of what the Undateable Job is, I don’t think I’d take the slightest notice of this kind of advice. I’ve gone out with doctors of various stripes, a lawyer, a paparazzo, a farmer, several academics, a chef, a search and rescue helicopter pilot. Theur jobs weren’t the reason I’m not still with any of them.

I can absolutely attest to this.
