To be concerned about my dd being friends with this woman

Holiday888 · 11/12/2025 14:48

My dd is only 22 year old and she’s become friends with a middle aged 29 year old lady. Aibu to be concerned due to the huge age gap and the fact this woman must have completely different life goals to my young daughter

VERY soon? 7 months away???

magicstar1 · 11/12/2025 15:17

You're ridiculous. When I was that age I had friends ranging in age from early twenties to late seventies. Both male and female.

Kubricklayer · 11/12/2025 15:17

Your DD should be concerned....about her overbearing mother, not her friends.

Lightuptheroom · 11/12/2025 15:18

That's only a 7 year gap. I have a bigger gap than that between my ds and my step ds, they are still mates? I work with 18 year olds and I'm 53!!

They should be be settling down a 22 year old is still in party phrase I know I was

I'm 43 and still in the party phase! So is my 54 year old DH and my 69 year old friend.
Age is but a number!

Katiesaidthat · 11/12/2025 15:18

Oh my, I´m 51, I have a friend who´s 35 and another who´s 68, go figure. Life goals and stages is for love stories not friendships.

Says who ? She might not want to settle down. What are you going to say if your daughter is not settled down by 29 ?

Meh when I was in .my 20,s on e of my best friends who i regularly went clubbing with wa s 10 years older than me she also has two kids.

BeFastDreamer · 11/12/2025 15:19

What kind of weirdo is concerned about a friendship between a 22 year old and a 29 year old? I’m 28 and one of my best friends is a colleague who is 58! Her kids are my age, and I have two under 3 (but have known her since I was 23 with no kids) so we’re in very different stages of life. Which by the way, being in different stages of life is totally irrelevant as plenty 22 year olds have children, and plenty 29 year olds are still single! You need to get over this.

Snorlaxo · 11/12/2025 15:19

Yabu

I have work friends who are all kinds of ages and live different lives. For example there’s a 50yo Christmas temp who works temp jobs for 2-4 months, travels for a month then starts the process again. Her youngest has just left the nest and she’s loving her new life.

She’s not dating a 29yo and middle age is in someone’s 40s since life expectancy is around 80+. Being friends with someone older could be good for her. My son is a similar age to your dd and he learned about stuff like LISAs and pensions from slightly older colleagues. He has fun but paying into his pension and LISA now will hopefully pay benefits later.
slightly older colleagues.

ItalianChineseIndianMexican · 11/12/2025 15:19

OP do you have any friends older than you?

Teanbiscuits33 · 11/12/2025 15:20

29, middle aged? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. That’s either a piss take or OP is another another planet

This is a nonsense thread.

Yes I've reported it because it's quite obviously calculated to be offensive.

wrongthinker · 11/12/2025 15:20

Sooo... when exactly does 'middle age' start, in your opinion, OP? 25? And then you're officially elderly at what? 40?

Waterbaby41 · 11/12/2025 15:21

Your poor daughter.

Applesonthetree · 11/12/2025 15:21

you must be bored. Come up with a more believable one next time

outerspacepotato · 11/12/2025 15:22

You're being weird and controlling.

JuvenileBigfoot · 11/12/2025 15:28

JustMe2026 · 11/12/2025 15:29

Utterly bizarre thread my bestest friends are all much older so your point is or keep your nose out and mind your own business probably

Tdcp · 11/12/2025 15:30

When I was 23 a close friend was 45 .. We're still in touch and I'm 39 now. 22 and 29? You're nuts lol

Just when I htink I've seen enough bonkers threads on MN yet another one pops up.

Are you OK OP - I mean this nicely but honestly - what on earth are you on about?!

TreeDudette · 11/12/2025 15:31

Fuck off! I am 48 and I consider myself middle aged. I intend to live well into my 80s or 90s. My parents are coming up on 80 and are still fighting fit!

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 11/12/2025 15:31
