To be concerned about my dd being friends with this woman

My dd is only 22 year old and she’s become friends with a middle aged 29 year old lady. Aibu to be concerned due to the huge age gap and the fact this woman must have completely different life goals to my young daughter

In that case she's not middle aged. Your daughter is old enough to make judgements about her own friendships and they're nothing to do with you.

Now now OP. I think you need to calm down and get back into your rocking chair with a shawl on your knees. Have a little nap, a cup of tea and sort our your funeral plan. Because if the middle aged 29 year olds should be settling down, ancients in their 50s(?) with 22 year old daughters should be settling into their dotage.

If your daughter was 15 hanging around with a 29 year old you might have a point, but they are both young women in their 20s. It’s nothing at all to do with you, and no, I don’t agree that they are particularly at different life stages, not these days. And even if they are, so what? I have friends of many ages.

I’m 53 & have a good friend of 62! We even go on holiday & for weekends away together! Now if your 13 yr old was hanging around with a 20 yr old that would be something to worry about!

I got married and had kids ( as did all my peers) late 30’s last child at 44

Life goals only really matters in romantic relationships, not friendships. I am mid 40s, and have friends that are early 20s, and mid 70s.

I agree OP. The 29 year old needs to be thinking about end of life care. Very concerning for your daughter to be exposed to the elderly in that way.

I started work at 18 and made friends with women of all ages. Many were at least ten years older.

Early Adulthood 22-34
Early Middle age 35-44
Midddle age 45-64
Late Adulthood >65

DD friend isn't middle aged, she's in the same stage of adulthood as DD just opposite ends.

There's 7 years between them its not a huge gap and 29 isn't middle aged.
