My dd is only 22 year old and she’s become friends with a middle aged 29 year old lady. Aibu to be concerned due to the huge age gap and the fact this woman must have completely different life goals to my young daughter

Virtually no one lives to 120 but '58' isn't anywhere near the average life span either. If you die at 58 people will still say you died young.

It is middle aged in my family but we all die very young due to health issues... most healthy peoples middle age is around 37 - 45 (life expectancy of 74 - 90).

My niece who is 25 has a 45 year old good friend (work colleague,) they have a pub lunch together twice a month.

Should her parents call the police? 101 or 999? Or social services, childline? What? Do tell @Holiday888

I met one of my best friends when she was 20 and I was 32, we’re still friends 23 years later….

Ha ha, I was married to DH with the same age gap at 23! Still happily married 30 plus years on.
I’m now in my 50’s with friends in their 30’s - late 70’s! I’ve even been known to hang out with our kids friends occasionally, and some of them would only be 18/19/20, the horror!
It’s only when you’re at school that your obliged to only speak to people born within 12 months of you OP, once you’re an adult your free to be friends with whomever you please!

I agree 60 isn't middle aged, even though when you google middle age, it says 40 to 65. I would say 30 to 41 is 'adult,' then 'middle age' is more like 42 to 55, then 56 to 75 is 'senior,' then 76+ is 'elderly.' 90+ is 'very elderly.'

Respectfully, is this a joke? Firstly, your daughter is an adult. A grown up, with her own autonomy. Secondly, twenty-nine is neither middle aged nor too old for your daughter to be making friends with! As someone who turned twenty seven in late September, I advise you get a grip.

You must be on the wind up?! As a teen, I worked with and had friends in their 40s and 50s. When I was 22, I had a friend in her 60s.

OP, I mean this very kindly, but you seem a little rigid in your way of thinking. And people with very rigid ways of thinking don’t tend to, as a rule, have wide groups of friends. Are you worrying because you haven’t had that varied friendship experience that she’s having so you don’t really understand it?

as to a 29 year old should be settling down, words fail me. You have some young 29years old and some old and those in the middle. At 29 you don’t have to have settled down and even if you have do you think going out stops at a certain age?

You must be very small minded if you only have friends the exact same age. I have friend ranging from 10 years younger to 20+ years older. Maybe your daughter is mature and relates more to someone a few years older what is wrong with that
