Don worry about it. Although I’m sure you won’t as you haven’t been back!!

Didimum · 11/12/2025 08:12

I was 35. The mums ranged from 22 to 45.

sunshineonmeith · 11/12/2025 08:14

With DC1 I was 24, with DC3 I will be 33 just to give a range.

Catsandcwtches · 11/12/2025 08:17

My youngest is in year 1. I’m 43, think I am one of the older mums but not the oldest.

Theroadnottravelled · 11/12/2025 17:53

I’m 46 with a 6 year old in Y1 and a 3 nearly 4 year old too. Guess I’m ancient then.

Guccigirl123 · 11/12/2025 17:54

I was 26 but my kids are now 42 so 1980’s normal for that era when mums had their babies younger

SushiDisco · 11/12/2025 17:55

I’m 30 but most of the mums of kids in year 1 are mid/late 30’s.

MMUmum · 11/12/2025 17:57

I was 47 😬😬😅

bookishmum1 · 11/12/2025 17:57

My oldest is in year 3 I was 30 when she was in year 1

Myotherusernamesafunnyone · 11/12/2025 17:59

the average age of a mother in uk is now almost 32. A child in Y2 is either 6 or 7; making the average mum around 39, at 41 you are not particularly old.

pouletvous · 11/12/2025 17:59

45

ColdWaterDipper · 11/12/2025 18:03

I was 37 when my eldest started yr1 and 40 when my youngest did. That’s about average for the schools they went to (village primary’s in predominantly middle class areas). There were a few mums in their mid or late 40s, a couple who were younger (20s), but most were mid to late 30s. Does it matter? I became friends with the mums who were most similar to me in interests (and those who were parents of my children’s friends) rather than those who were the same age as me.

Jayne35 · 11/12/2025 18:04

I was 26 (DD almost 30 now) and most of the Mums were younger than me, it has changed a lot now though at that school they all still look very young. Maybe it depends where the school is as that one was on a notorious local estate.

I would have been 31, 32 and 37

CatComments · 11/12/2025 18:05

I was 25 when my oldest was in year 1, and 39 when my youngest was in year 1.

SpiritedFlame · 11/12/2025 18:06

I'm 35 but she is my second. I think there are quite a variety of ages though at pick up.

TwinklyTraybake · 11/12/2025 18:10

I was 47 when she was in year 1.

Iziz · 11/12/2025 18:10

i don’t think any of the mums are in their 20’s in my year 1 child’s class I would say all are 30+ to 45 , you are not old but I know am older than the class three teachers doesn’t bother me .

Skyglimmer · 11/12/2025 18:10

Almost 40 and my eldest is in year 2 and I would say a lot of parents are around my age some older some younger but for my reception age child parents seem a lot younger than me.

ThisLittlePiggyHasEatenAllOfTheJaffaCakes · 11/12/2025 18:12

I was 34 when DC was year 1. There were some older and younger but I think a lot of us were mid to late thirties. Then in comp it seemed to change and there were more older mams and that was the norm.

onedogatoddlerandababy · 11/12/2025 18:12

Mine are older now, but when my youngest was yr 1, I was 46.

PluckyChancer · 11/12/2025 18:18

I was 49 and not the oldest mum in the playground. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Angelil · 11/12/2025 18:21

I was 37 when my eldest was in Y1. Will be 42 when my youngest is.

MB34 · 11/12/2025 18:29

My son was year 1 last year and I was 47.

Another mum from his class is 52.

Other mums are in their mid/late 20s

TheTruthWillSetYouFreeMaybe · 11/12/2025 18:30

First (and only) child. I was 48. As worked FT I rarely went to school gates. When I did, can’t believe the snotty looks I got - I was not one of the bright young mums and boy did I feel it ! And I did try to smile and join in
