Do you shave your legs in the winter?

I last shaved my legs in September and won't shave them again until about April.

OP posts:

Not much. maybe three times ? About that. Been once since the weather was good, think I stopped after September.

Will do them again if I wear a skirt that calls for pale coloured tights and that probably won't be til March maybe April 2026.

I don’t shave my legs at all. I don’t understand why women have colluded with the notion that normal body hair is somehow gross or indecent (but only on women), and we all need to try to make our legs (and private parts) look like those of prepubescent children.

NaiceBalonz · 07/12/2025 10:22

Yes, I have standards all year round, not just April - October.

Grown adults don’t look prepubescent just because they shave.

I couldn't go a few days without shaving, its so prickly. Takes about 1 minute.

Standards? Choosing to have or not have body hair is nothing to do with standards, it's completely personal choice.

As opposed to a gorilla?

If you look like a gorilla unless you shave you have a very big problem… Presumably you also shave your face, neck, in fact entire body then?

TeenLifeMum · 07/12/2025 10:27

Currently once a week but I’m in the process of using IPL so it’s reducing significantly. I love the feel of smooth legs and armpits all year round.

WellMaybeYouShouldntBeLivingHeeeeeeee · 07/12/2025 10:27

I don’t feel very socially compelled to shave but there was one winter where I decided not to bother at all, and I ended up with uncomfortable dry skin on my shins — I think because the shaving kind of serves to exfoliate a little bit and makes me more likely to moisturise my legs than if they’re hairy. So now I do it year round, every few days

Why do you think looking hairless, apart from the head, is supposedly desirable for women?

Do men who shave their faces look like prepubescent boys? this would mean that anyone whose husband doesnt have a beard likes under age boys, no?

Why yuck? Body hair is perfectly normal on a adult woman. I currently have hairy legs, because I pretty much never shave them, and hairy armpits because I forgot to shave them in the shower yesterday. My DP certainly isn't turned off by it, he couldn't care less whether I have body hair or not.

I think it’s yuck 🤷🏻‍♀️
I wear skirts & dresses a lot, & exercise leggings, wouldn’t like hairy legs .
I think underarm hair is unsightly & unhygienic .
That’s how I like to keep myself & that’s my entitlement.
We are all different, I respect your choice also ..

Tablesandchairs23 · 07/12/2025 10:30

Yes i do. Why wouldn't you!

Standards? Standards? Why do you think looking hairless is somehow morally better?

WildCherryBlossom · 07/12/2025 10:31

@MightyGoldBearBraun do very good epilators. If you are new to epilating then a cordless waterproof one is ideal as you can do it in the bath which can help with any discomfort. I’ve been epilating for donkey’s years and can barely feel a thing now. Hair growth gets finer and finer over time too.

If you like shaved pits for aesthetic reasons then fair enough, but it's not 'unhygenic'. Otherwise men would feel compelled to shave theirs.

Beards or no beards is purely a fashion. (Maybe being 'clean-shaven' is also more comfortable for a man - I don’t know.)

What I object to is the notion that women's body hair is somehow unclean. Someone has talked about "having standards"! You don’t hear that said about men’s facial or body hair.

opencecilgee · 07/12/2025 10:36

No but I do wax about once a month or six weeks

opencecilgee · 07/12/2025 10:37

How is hair unhygienic? It’s just hair

is the hair on your head unhygienic?

No, you are deliberately avoiding what I asked. I am not referring to it being "unclean", I am referring to your ascertain that women who shave resemble prepubescent girls.

If this were in fact, true, then any woman who had a husband who is clean shaven would also find prepubescent boys attractive because it is "natural" for men to have facial hair after puberty.

I note the fact you are avoiding this means you recognise what you are saying is bollocks

So you think it's yuck on yourself? If so, fine, you're completely entitled to feel that way. Just please don't tell other women you think it's yuck on them.

I haven't said that that's how I feel - if you feel that way, that's your issue.

Anyway, lots of men shave too - are they trying to look prepubescent as well?

Lennoxx · 07/12/2025 10:38

Nope! Furry for the warmth 😆

It’s only prickly in the early stages of the hair growing. If you didn’t shave it would never feel prickly again.

CandyCaneKisses · 07/12/2025 10:40

I shave every day regardless of the weather.
