Do you shave your legs in the winter?

I last shaved my legs in September and won't shave them again until about April.

I didn't but then I got blue lighted to hospital in my tatty nightie, no knickers and with hairy legs. My mum always used to say wear respectable knickers in case you get run over. I would add shaving legs to that advice...

Honestly as an anaesthetist we couldn't care less about the amount of hair on someone's legs nor their underwear....

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 07/12/2025 09:45

I had a lower leg wax recently but that was only because I was going to a spa.

LemonLeaves · 07/12/2025 09:46

Once a week. Mine doesn't grow particularly fast though - so even in the summer it's only twice a week, and that's more to stop my legs feeling stubble-y as I tend to wear skirts and shorts a lot.

GumFossil · 07/12/2025 09:49

I IPLd my legs and armpits years ago, so have no hair.

PGmicstand · 07/12/2025 09:50

No. Or in the summer.
Might shave my armpits once in a while, but I mostly live in jeans, so my legs need to be comfy.

Nope, I never shave, even in summer.

I hate it that the beauty standard is for women to look like a prepubescent girl.

I had very hairy legs as a child - only started shaving when I hit puberty. So it's the other way around for me 😅

Dontlletmedownbruce · 07/12/2025 09:51

Hairy pits and legs for the winter. I sometimes shave pits depending on what I'm wearing but can go all winter without, I'm not one for a strappy tip anyway.

I'm surprised no one has said yes because they go swimming or do other exercise during the winter. I get far too hot in full length leggings. For that reason alone, yes. And also because I just feel a bit gross otherwise.

I do swim weekly in the winter but don’t feel shaving essential for this, and wouldn’t be upset if some hairy leg visible at the gym. Do shave sometimes but definitely not regularly and much less in the winter.

Rituelec · 07/12/2025 09:56

Nop. Dont care

StupidHappyClocks · 07/12/2025 09:57

Yes, but I’m a lot lazier. Probably once a week rather than every other day.

I swim all year too. I dont care! No one should be looking and if they did notice, so what. We all have body hair, they just choose to shave theirs

No, furry until shorts weather

I wear shorts all year round, so yes!

soocool · 07/12/2025 09:59

Once a week or so. Like a pp I was glad I did the Sunday night defuzzing recently as I ended up in A+E next day and was admitted. Showered and shaved just in time! Ultra clean undergarments also whew.

Don't shave, don't give a fuck. And won't until men are expected to spend time, effort and pain removing all their body hair.

Don’t care that you don’t shave- each to their own, but why the comment about men? Alot of women find hair on a man attractive, beard, hairy chest etc.

iSage · 07/12/2025 10:00

No. I don't even shave them much in summer. They've never been very hairy, and so what if someone sees hairs on my legs - hairs growing where hairs are meant to grow - why is that shocking? I shave them once before we go on holiday usually in June and then let them grow unless I'm going anywhere special. I don't shave my underarms at all.

Missj25 · 07/12/2025 09:22

Yuck !
Is your husband not turned off by hair ?
I’m single & keep everywhere shaved no matter what the season , if it was only for hygiene reasons alone .

Why yuck? Body hair is perfectly normal on a adult woman. I currently have hairy legs, because I pretty much never shave them, and hairy armpits because I forgot to shave them in the shower yesterday. My DP certainly isn't turned off by it, he couldn't care less whether I have body hair or not.

MrsMoastyToasty · 07/12/2025 10:14

I don't shave my legs in winter. I get eczema on my shins at this time of year so it's too sore.

autumn1610 · 07/12/2025 10:16

I’ve started waxing my legs as hunger terrible reaction on my legs to shaving and finally got fed up in the summer. So need to try and maintain every 6 weeks to keep it up. For me body hair on legs/bikini is a sensory thing and find it makes my skin uncomfortable with the friction between clothes and hair so the week or so before a wax I find irritating. I couldn’t care what people think though as with waxing you have to let it grow back out anyway so if it’s near wax time then my legs/bikini will be hairy

RichardMarxisinnocent · 07/12/2025 10:16

Shmee1988 · 07/12/2025 09:04

As opposed to a gorilla?

Just as shaved women don't look like pre pubescent girls, women with even the hairiest of legs, armpits and bikini lines don't look like gorillas.

OrlandointheWilderness · 07/12/2025 10:17

Always. Every day - armpits/legs/bits. Can’t bear to be hairy! And before we have the ‘doing it for the menz’ crowd along to tell me WHY I shave MY legs - it’s because I actually really hate the feel of it and I’ve always done it even when single for years.

OrlandointheWilderness · 07/12/2025 10:18

And I love my man hairy 😂

HermioneWeasley · 07/12/2025 10:19

Nope. Long enough to braid now. Might make a feature of them

AgnesMcDoo · 07/12/2025 10:20

Yes but only cause I go to the gym and swimming

AhBiscuits · 07/12/2025 10:20

Nope. I don't shave them in summer either, I epilate when the mood takes me, maybe every couple of months. The hair is fine, blonde and hardly visible anyway.

dimple285 · 07/12/2025 10:21

No I don't, and i don't understand people who say having leg hair makes their skin feel itchy or uncomfortable, I'm not even aware it's there till I see it.

Shaving on the other hand often makes me itchy, especially when the hair first starts growing back - oh maybe that's what people don't realise? - if you don't shave the hair isn't itchy, it's the shaving that makes it feel itchy as it grows back.
