I've seen these threads before and thought how on earth did you not know! How big must your house be to have a secret room.
Our house is not massive, 4 bed, normal size not really old or anything.
But there's a super creepy room. Hidden at the back of the loft, It's got carpet, wall paper and even spot lights! And a director's chair... just sitting in the middle of it! It's weird.

so its literally just your loft then.....

what a nothing burger

Yes.

no door. Not secret room.

the loft. With a foot high step up to it.

and the OP’s poor father being roped in to taking a look this weekend because the op and her dh seem to be quivering wrecks about it

Interpol etc would have databases of backgrounds from footage posted on dark web so it would be a straightforward check. They would also have the expertise and experience to pick up on relevant things in a way you and I wouldn't.

If the people we bought the house from are on here please DM me.

Why wouldn't you just contact them, or speak to the estate agent about it?

Still waiting for an explanation why you wouldn't do this as first port of call - rather than "hoping" the seller is on MN, or contacting Interpol.

Please call Interpol @Ohwhatswrong and report back.

WonderfulSmith · 13/12/2025 14:32

There is a police website where they post backgrounds and objects from child abuse video to see if people can identify locations or products.

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 14/12/2025 08:06

Part of our loft is decked out like this...papered and hidden from.the rest of the loft. My neighbour told me that the chap who lived here in the 1970s used to "take young ladies up there and take blue photos". I think.you have a porn loft.

MrsZiggywinkle · 14/12/2025 09:17

It’s the secret snack room.

BluTangClan · 14/12/2025 14:19

I'm hoping there's a locked safe in the unexplored area.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/12/2025 21:32

there is no way that wouldn’t have gone though the hatch door or peeked my head in to see what it what in there

I’m not disputing that - horrible as it is to think of - people do sedate children for the purposes of producing illegal films.

What I am questioning is the plausibility that a person with a drugged child would choose to pull that child into a very hard to access loft room to commit illegal acts. What purpose would be served by this when they could do the same thing in any room in the house, avoiding significant difficulty and risk?

Whenever you see news reports after the event of this sort of thing, you hear about double lives being led - so, it could be the happy family with kids, or a normal couple, or whatever, with visitors, so a veneer of normality with anything not so normal hidden away. This has featured in films too by the way - donny darko for example. They wouldn't do things in normal rooms as too much chance of someone suspecting something, seems the obvious answer. Also means that if there had been a police visit, more difficult for them to find evidence perhaps. Again I am not suggesting it is anything like this, just thinking better safe than sorry, doesn't take more than a few minutes to send an email with the information. Could lead to helping someone somewhere in the end.

I wonder how many people have doubled checked lofts and cellars after reading this thread!

GasPanic · 15/12/2025 15:17

I doubt very much that anyone who has a dodgy room in their loft just leaves it that way when they move. Surely it would be easier just to take 2 hours and dismantle it.

I suppose the people there before may have not actually bothered looking and it is from more than one occupant back. There are people on here who apparently never look in their lofts.

I would definitely want to look in any screened off areas for signs of damage and if only to open the area up for storage. But I wouldn't do it before Xmas for logical reasons !

Did you not see the post above from someone who has worked in police intelligence suggesting that the OP contacts police intelligence and opens up the other side of the loft? Basically (as I have explained already) filming and photographing trafficked children or adults and posting on the dark web is big money and widespread, increasing all the time. The teams would know quickly whether or not to investigate this. By adding this information to other information they may already have they may be able to solve crimes, identify where crimes took place, potentially help current victims. Or they may decide it was a hobby of a previous owner. It takes 5 mins to post on their website photos and descriptions - I really can't understand why you think it is not worth doing this? You may have this sort of thing happening near you and be oblivious to it.

I have experience of regulatory agencies including the one mentioned.

I do not agree that anything will happen next.

I have experience too. And I think you are being naive or disingenuous.

No one has said what will happen next.
And my question, please could you answer - did you see the post by someone who worked in police intelligence or not? Do you think they are talking nonsense?

I saw the post and am not confident the way they are, it's not hard to understand.

We can agree to disagree.

OP can do whatever she likes.

You say am not confident the way they are - you mean you aren't confident they are who they say they are? your text was autocorrected
If that is what you meant, I agree that it is easy to understand what you mean, but it is the first time you have said it.

It would be an interesting choice of words - "not hard to understand" - for someone who works for these agencies, so I assume that isn't what you do.

Yes I understand that abuse will generally be carried out by “normal” people in “normal” homes but none of that explains the need for a hidden loft room. Abuse can happen anywhere!

It makes no sense at all that anyone would go to that level of effort to conceal activity (dragging unconscious children into a loft, really?) but deck the “secret” room out in an incredibly distinctive way and then just leave it like that when they move out.
