I agree. I don't think I would find any common ground with those whose view is "it's just a dog".

Fine to say 'it's just a dog' if it's ok for me to say 'it's just a child'.

I have dogs because I like dogs. I don't have children for a variety of reasons, including that I cannot have children but that's by the by as I don't particularly like children and do not want any.

To me, your child is 'just a child'. I am not interested, do not want them in my house, and find the very young ones to be fairly revolting (producing snot, piss, shit and vomit without much warning) and a very real risk to my health (little disease vectors that they are, never mind the parasites!).

Or we could accept that family is family, my family is important to me, but not to you. Your family is important to you but not to me, and be just that bit more thoughtful of others feelings?

I hope the people arguing that animals are equal to humans never eat meat. By their logic it would be morally equivalent to cannibalism.

I hope the people that proclaim to care about children so much have fostered or adopted.

Well no because end of the day no matter how much you hate children and love dogs, children are humans who will grow up and many of them will contribute in wonderful and interesting ways to life on this planet and your dogs will...go for a lot of walks and get belly rubs. They're just dogs. They're never going to be anything but dogs.

No I haven't adopted or fostered, but I do think that human life is of more value than animal life. Sorry but I'm not really sure of the correlation between the two things, but I daresay that you know there isn't one.

My dog saved my life. I live with MH illness, and she has been the reason I have accepted treatment when in hospital so I can get back home to her.

I hope the people arguing that the lives of random humans should always be placed above family dogs would risk their lives to save Huntley, West, Putin, Hitler, Bundy, Dahmer, Gein, Brady, Hindley, Shipman, McCann, Sinaga and all involved with trafficking women and children for the cartels from a house fire.
