So many people post online about knowing a person or family, some apparently know multiple people who are lying to claim PIP or DLA for their children.
If you know this for a fact as us claimed then you should report them.

If all the suspicions on here were followed up and correct, we'd have nobody on benefits. Funny, that.

You mean like the 22 year old girl I know who cannot work because of depression and anxiety who is getting benefits
She is not too anxious or depressed however to go to the gym most days, go out for meals and to clubs with bf and friends , to go on a 6 week holiday to South Africa and a 3 week holiday to Egypt paid for by her parents
To be fair both parents who run their own business think she is going to being sponging from hem for ever but she is their daughter they love her they are stuck with it

Cheesecake53 · 03/12/2025 16:30

Why ask you not for the rich people not being paying tax being reported bei their friends? Poor people bashing of course.

Indeed they could save so much tax payer money overnight.

They probably have and it's been investigated and dismissed - or, the one that entertains me most (as my ex was apoplectic at how I wasn't being hauled off to prison despite his many reports), they weren't in receipt of benefits in the first place.

Celestialmoods · 03/12/2025 16:35

People don’t need to know for a fact. Reasonable suspicion is enough to report, and then the investigators can find the facts.

wossupthen · 03/12/2025 16:36

It's pretty much everyone isn't it? I mean everyone knows how simple claiming pip is! You just go to the doctor and say 'I'm a bit sad' and you get full rate and a free car and are automatically £71000 better off than a HARD WORKING person the Very Next Day!

Because there aren’t any.

You absolutely should do this, but you’ll probably find their bank has beaten you to it.

Kettlepotkettle · 03/12/2025 16:42

I suggest they mind their own business.

I was reported for “benefit fraud” by a woman whose children all had different dads who she didn’t allow to see the kids. She was jealous my children had the same father and we actually got on with one another

BobbyShaftoWentToSeeSilverBucklesOnHisKnee · 03/12/2025 16:42

Yanbu, if the good people on MN spent as much time reporting all of the people they know who really, definitely fake disabilities (because, somehow, they are clever enough to trick the system, but stupid enough to go into lengthy detail with their neighbours or at the school gate) as they do bitching about it on here, MN alone would have saved the country billions in fraudulent claims apparently.

Take me for instance, I just walked past the benefits office looking a bit sad one day and they invited me in and gave me a grand a week and a car, I've put in in the Christmas round Robin this year, just so everyone knows the full story.

People don’t need to know for a fact. Reasonable suspicion is enough to report, and then the investigators can find the facts.

And yet we still have people on benefits. Perhaps the people doing the investigation know best? I do wonder what 'reasonable' means to some people, but I don't think it's 'has a lifestyle that's better than mine and I'm bitter'.

Mokeytree · 03/12/2025 16:33

I really don't get this - moaning on here about someone allegedly committing fraud but actually doing nothing about it

Plantatreetoday · 03/12/2025 16:49

Surely if you know or highly suspect someone is committing fraud you should report it
Much the same as any other crime

OonaStubbs · 03/12/2025 16:50

It's very hard to prove, unfortunately. Except for the people who do stupid stuff like trampolining while claiming benefits for having a bad back etc.

SerendipityJane · 03/12/2025 16:52

Report them ?

Surely a letter to the Daily Mail has more effect ?

Where?

Almost every single person has agreed with OP

CatkinToadflax · 03/12/2025 16:56

It’s certainly amazing how many people on here know others who are definitely, without any doubt milking the system…. and they are so sure about it that they come on here to complain about them and everyone else who they assume is also fraudulently claiming PIP…. but then don’t report them.

Plantatreetoday · 03/12/2025 16:57

CandyCaneKisses · 03/12/2025 16:53

Wow. More disability hate.

Surely it’s the opposite of disability hate to report those who claim fraudulently

Minty25 · 03/12/2025 16:58

It's rife, both for non means tested benefits and means tested benefits. I am glad they are cracking down on benefit fraud.

Megifer · 03/12/2025 16:58

My SIL fakes hers, in that she could absolutely work if she had to and is very open about this, but Id never report her as that would impact my DBro and neices/nephews.

I dont particularly feel strongly about benefits claimants though, fake or otherwise.

floppybit · 03/12/2025 17:01

Because whenever someone comes on here saying they know someone who is fraudulently claiming benefits and ask if they should report them, the vast majority of people tell them that they shouldn’t and it’s none of their business!!
