To think it is not at all sad that the Women's Institute is now only for actual women?

“Incredibly sadly, we will have to restrict our membership on the basis of biological sex from April next year,” Green said. “But the message we really want to get across is that it remains our firm belief that transgender women are women, and that doesn’t change.”

Tellingly - they still think women can have a penis.

Women’s Institute will no longer accept trans women as members from April

Exclusive: CEO says decision taken with ‘utmost regret and sadness’ after supreme court ruling on definition of a woman

Yeah whatever. 🙄

Look, could you bitches just get out of the way and let me give people with penises your stuff? It gives me the sads when you put your interests ahead of my preferred group of males.

The nastiness and continuous portrayal of being self imagined crusaders by posters who frequent these threads is nauseating, tiresome and concerning. We’re talking about a marginalised group of people who don’t have it easy. Some human kindness wouldn’t go amiss.

Some just pile on with self congratulatory nastiness all day. One does have to wonder if they actually have lives aside from doling out vileness - on a loop saying the same old shite.

But you haven't explained what you think is so 'nasty' about expecting men ti obey the law and stay out of women's single sex spaces?

Why aren't you concerned about the nastiness of the men who want to access spaces that don't belong to them?

Can you see why it looks like you value men's desires over women's rights?

Hoppinggreen · 07/12/2025 20:17

Throckmorton · 07/12/2025 18:40

What has the one got to do with the other?
Easy or hard ride, ether way single-sex spaces are there for a reason and people should not go into a single sex space if they are not that sex. That applies to all people, trans or otherwise.

[edit for typo]

Edited

They face challenges (largely of their own making) so we are supposed to just give them whatever they want?

It's the best thing the WI have done in a long time and I'm appalled at the Directors thinking otherwise . They should check with their membership . Everyone in my local WI agrees it's for women only and should not include men dressed as women or who think they're women or want to be women.
The High Court ruling was clear

Good to hear. Please communicate your feelings to the high head yins!

What are you going to do with yourselves when this thread reaches 1000?

Start a new thread . Duh.

Just stop. We’re talking about children, children that are already some of the most socially isolated there are.

Exactly. Which is why GG happily welcomes girls with a trans identity. They just exclude boys with any identity.

No. Why should we?

I'm so sick of women being told to shut up.

You know girls are children too? Not just boys.

And girls have just as much right to get their stuff back from boys as women do from men.

You don't like it? You want the boys and men included? Then go set up your own version of girlguiding and WI.

The current versions are now back to what they were supposed to be, for girls and women only.

But that wasn’t that posters contention. They said “Men are not a marginalised group. Not even the ones with womanly feelings.”

Regardless of your viewpoint of female only spaces - their point is demonstrably false. It is possible for “men” in certain groups to be marginalised

Men as a sex are not marginalised.

Women. This thread is about women.

You want the thread and the WI and girlguiding to be about the men.

No.

Men as a sex are not marginalised.

“Not even those with womanly feelings”. Assuming this means trans people. Then they, as a subset of “men” in your worldview, like gay men - also a subset of men - are two marginalised groups.

arguing that trans people are not marginalised - whatever your views on other parts of the trans debate - is not an intelligent, reasonable conclusion to come to.

They could just open membership to men, might make it more appealing quite frankly. Men can go to mothers union meetings if they want, really don’t understand sex segregated societies

Fine. Trans people are marginalised.

The Women's Institute could likely do loads to support transmen, and any female non-binary people.

Sad men is not their remit.

You don't think anything at all should be single sex. This is a valid, if very niche, viewpoint. Well done for owning it!

To be fair, societies are not the same as changing rooms, prisons or domestic abuse shelters.

I can see why someone sees no need for sex segregated societies. Personally, I see value for limited numbers of them, but it certainly feels like a more arbitrary point than some other spaces.

Don't make me laugh. People have had their careers ended, been utterly cancelled, been silenced, traduced, women have been forced to share cells and changing rooms with men, had their sporting medals stolen, been told men are better women of the year than women are, gaslit, pilloried and beaten up in the name of men being women. You complain about MN but in the earlier days of this lunacy, you couldn't say anything too honest on here either and it was one of the few places that didn't zap you on sight for saying women don't have penises.

If you're angry now because sanity is starting to prevail and everyone now has to follow the same rules and have the same rights as everyone else, that just shows what a crazy privilege your camp had for years.

Ahhhh, I see, I read 'societies' as meaning 'society' more generally, rather than individual organisations.

Of course they could, but it is a single sex space and they don't want to. If you do not understand why anyone might want or need a single sex space then that doesn't actually matter. Women and men have a right to them and if they're not for you, you are free to use the mixed sex spaces that also exist as an option rather than removing this one.

Raped. Sadly we must add raped to that list
